War on Iraq

Bush's World War III 'Solution'

By Scott Ritter, Truthdig. Posted October 23, 2007.

The stakes regarding Iran have always been high, but Bush's invocation of "World War III" as a solution has brought the threat to a dangerous new level.

Don't worry, the White House is telling us. The world's most powerful leader was simply making a rhetorical point. At a White House press conference last week, just in case you haven't heard, President Bush informed the American people that he had told world leaders "if you're interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing [Iran] from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon." World War III. That is certainly some rhetorical point, especially coming from the man singularly most capable of making such an event reality.

Pundits have raised their eyebrows and comics are busy writing jokes, but the president's reference to Armageddon, no matter how cavalierly uttered and subsequently brushed away, suggests an alarming context. Some might note that the comment was simply an offhand response to a reporter's question, the kind of free-thinking scenario that baffles Bush so. In a way, this makes what the president said even more disturbing, since we now have an insight into the vision, and related terminology, which hovers just below the horizon in the brain of George W. Bush.

When I was a weapons inspector with the United Nations, there was a jostling that took place at the end of each day, when decisions needed to be made and authorization documents needed to be signed. In an environment of competing agendas, each of us who championed a position sought to be the "last man in," namely the person who got to imprint the executive chairman (our decision maker) with the final point of view for the day. Failure to do so could find an inspection or point of investigation sidetracked for days or weeks after the executive chairman became distracted by a competing vision. I understand the concept of "imprinting," and have seen it in action. What is clear from the president's remarks is that, far from an innocent rhetorical fumble, his words, and the context in which he employed them, are a clear indication of the imprinting which is taking place behind the scenes at the White House. If the president mentions World War III in the context of Iran's nuclear program, one can be certain that this is the very sort of discussion that is taking place in the Oval Office.

A critical question, therefore, is who was the last person to "imprint" the president prior to his public allusion to World War III? During his press conference, Bush noted that he awaited the opportunity to confer with his defense secretary, Robert Gates, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice following their recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. So clearly the president hadn't been imprinted recently by either of the principle players in the formulation of defense and foreign policy. The suspects, then, are quickly whittled down to three: National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, Vice President Dick Cheney, and God.

Hadley is a long-established neoconservative thinker who has for the most part operated "in the shadows" when it comes to the formulation of Iran policy in the Bush administration. In 2001, following the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States, Hadley (then the deputy national security adviser) instituted what has been referred to as the "Hadley Rules," a corollary of which is that no move will be made which alters the ideological positioning of Iran as a mortal enemy of the United States. These "rules" shut down every effort undertaken by Iran to seek a moderation of relations between it and the United States, and prohibited American policymakers from responding favorably to Iranian offers to assist with the fight against al-Qaida; they also blocked the grand offer of May 2003 in which Iran outlined a dramatic diplomatic initiative, including a normalization of relations with Israel. The Hadley Rules are at play today, in an even more nefarious manner, with the National Security Council becoming involved in the muzzling of former Bush administration officials who are speaking out on the issue of Iran. Hadley is blocking Flynt Leverett, formerly of the National Security Council, from publishing an Op-Ed piece critical of the Bush administration on the grounds that any insight into the machinations of policymaking (or lack thereof) somehow strengthens Iran's hand. Leverett's article would simply underscore the fact that the Bush administration has spurned every opportunity to improve relations with Iran while deliberately exaggerating the threat to U.S. interests posed by the Iranian theocracy.

If anyone doubted the very sanity of this administration and president, let those doubts dissolve like the morning fog in the coming sunshine. WORLD WAR III? Did he actually say that (a rhetorical question, since I saw the footage). This guy just doesn't comprehend the power of presidential words. You would think he would have learned after his 'Bring'em on' remark, which set up our troops as magnets and targets in a region Bush's decision single-handedly turned into a no-man's-land. Now our evangelical dear leader, whose dogma recognizes end time theology, is evoking World War rhetoric. WOW. 15 months is an eternity when madmen are in power, there is no stopping them short of a spineless Congress rushing to curtail this power grab in every way, combined with a military that refuses illegal and immoral orders. So Bush is a spokesman for God, it seems that the god of this world (power and money) is the only one he listens to. The God of Christ would remind him 'Blessed are the peacemakers', 'Live by the sword, perish by the sword', 'Blessed are the meek', and 'Pray for your enemies. Bless those who curse you. Forgive those who spite and smite you'. If Christ taught peace, this warlike president is absolutely ant-Christ-ian in his bloodlust policies. The perfect karma for him would be to have to observe as a fly-on-the-wall, in real time, every minute of unlived life cut short because of his unconstitutional and ill-advised decision to wage pre-emptive war, which by now numbers well past a million cumulative years; at an average life span of 65-70 years, and using a conservative estimate estimate of 100,000 dead. This guy has a lot of karma to pay for. If you do that sort of thing....pray....we need all we can get at this point.

End of days is the solution

So Bush's 'World War III' solution is derived from Christianity. Surprise, surprise. As to which World War we are approaching sometimes seems difficult to grok since Norman Podhoretz the “godfather” of neo-conservatism, and who I believe may be the final imprinter of Bush’s brain, seems to believe we already are fighting WWIII and are now approaching WWIV. What Godly manifestations that masturbate in this old codgers brain who is approaching the golden years of his senility is a mystery. But an Armageddon would suit Podhoretz just fine since he’s going to be dead soon anyway.

As always, the idiocy of religion continues to guide the world toward misery and self-destruction. Bush and legions of others in authority in America have set the example for this absurdness for the rest of its misinformed citizens to follow and to finally set the stage for eliminating the separation of church and state. American evangelical Christianity may eventually turn America into an Islamic-like state. Then both sides can threaten each other with my god-can-beat-up-your-god until the end.

What is required presently as the solution to the problem of a war of aggression toward Iran - collective debate, discussion and dialogue – is no longer on the table. How do you undo decades of brainwashing? This administration will not explain nor share any information with the American people, much less its power.

As I'd like to disbelieve all babbling idiots including myself, imagine for a minute that Bush, he's the town crier. IF we back Israel, and Israel bombs Iran instead, then whoever else starts bombing Israel, we bomb, and so on and so forth, then sure, maybe all hell could break loose. I mean.., hopefully this is all just more of the "chaos theory of ruling", which is how Israel has done things in the middle east up until now, and America is right alongside Israel promoting it as well. And, it's a bit funny but in all reality, America promulgates ideologies, and sectarian violence more than anyone ever could. I mean, c'mon it's a democracy, we are so free we create all these strange little worlds within our own minds, and think whatever we want to think.

I mean.., who isnt viewing America as the most hypocritical country in the world right now?, ok, maybe not every other country out there - yet.

The fact of the matter is Bush is a warring president, he stated so himself, his nature is destructive. He wants to push the big button, he wants to feel in control. But when you think about it.., he's just like all the rest of the big headed paranoia driven Americans in this country, and they are everywhere.

Democrat or Republican it makes no difference, your ego still runs the show. What's the next show going to be?, only time will tell.

Forewarned is Forearmed: Bush on Iran

The White House’s propaganda campaign laying the groundwork for military action against Iran dates back almost six years—to Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address in which he designated Iran as a founding member of the “axis of evil.” Since then, this drumbeat has waxed and waned as other concerns—primarily the disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq—have often commanded center stage. Now, with the Bush administration approaching its final year in office, a renewed push and a shorter fuse are increasingly evident. My 3-minute YouTube video entitled “Forewarned Is Forearmed: Bush On Iran” is available HERE. It offers a very brief but deeply troubling chronicle of the president’s public warmongering and demonization of Iran. As has been said before, “the hour is getting late.”

Starting with DC and bunker busters in Colorado and airblasts over every major military base.

And don't think it hasn't been planned and is ready for immediate implementation either.

up to the recent past the directions and process for making a bomb were on the web....

the basic process of making a bomb is taught in most freshman college level introduction to physics class...

scare tactics for a false flag event again if I ever heard it... we won't get fooled again!!! hopefully...

Impeach this administration and try them for the war criminals that they are before they bring about the end of days for us all. Stand up against this arrogant terrorist administration, protect our constitution and our way of life, do not let these idiots send us to WWIII. No God would wish war on anyone - no God would send us to a violent death in His name - Life is a gift to be lived and enjoyed and to admire the beauty of creation regardless of your beliefs. This is heaven or hell depending on what we make of it. This beautiful gift of life and this wonderful home called Earth is not here for us to destroy.

This ww3 talk coming out of Bush is just rhetoric. What is the purpose of this rhetoric? The rhetoric is a two a headed beast. One head is to drum up support from the people; you need me on that wall to protect you from ww3. The second head is to drum up support from the international community; we need to fight a war to stop ww3, so join us or stay out of the way.
Christianity 101 - You will be known by your works. While you can not judge your brother because of incomplete knowledge, you can judge their works. While you atheists are about 1% of the population on this planet, 80% of the people on this planet believe in the creation. All nations will fall before God; the creation trumps the nations and that does not mean the nations are going anywhere. No matter what you believe writing people off by calling them crazy, stupid, etc. is a huge mistake. Bush, Chaney any many like them may be misguided but they are not stupid and they are on a mission. Do not be deceived and underestimate them or you will be a slave in the NWO before you know it. To us it is the end time and the battle of Armageddon is at hand, so pick a side. One of the ten best deceptions of all times was to make the people believe the beast was flush. You will never see the beast but it may eat you for lunch. One will buy or sell glorious things with the international currency of the beast. How many men will it take to manage this NWO banking service that will make us all slaves? If you want our oil use our money.

[17] And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
[18] Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Drumbeat to war

Just this last Sunday, Dick Cheney said in a speech, "The Iranian regime needs to know that if it stays on its present course, the international community is prepared to impose serious consequences. The United States joins other nations in sending a clear message: We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon." It should be noted that "serious consequences" is exactly the phrase used by the U.N. Security counsel toward Iraq in the lead up to our attack on that country. Cheney's use of this phrase is certainly not coincidental, yet I haven't seen this pointed out in the media.

There is a drumbeat to war against Iran emanating from the White House. It seems odd for a nation to considering starting a new war when one (or two) wars are going so badly, but there is a historical precedent. It didn't go so well for Germany then, and I suspect it would not go so well for the United States now. Certainly the welfare of the United States is not the goal of these people.

The best definition for republican is: rotten and corrupt. Republicans are rotten and corrupt right down to their core beliefs. They defy the laws of chance by being wrong on every single moral issue there is. How could that be? Many republican watchers believe it has something to do with their being devoid of conscience and compassion. Looking out for number ONE is their first, last and only consideration, and that one sometimes doesn’t even include their families.

How do people become republicans? What forms their character? Is it a matter of chance, Mother Nature, mother nurture or preordained by God? Is it like white blood cells attacking red blood cells? Republicans range along a scale between parasites and top predators depending on their strength and opportunity circumstances. Like all predators, they prey mostly on the weak, the young, old, sick, poor, and minorities, but sometimes they eat each other.

Want to thin republicans ranks? Put a dab of ketchup on his head..

Did you know that most people in prison identify themselves as republicans?

Bush listens to God? Cheney gave Iran the Knowledge

Bush says he doesn't want Iran to get the knowledge to make a Nuke Bomb. Cheney with Halliburton spent their Clinton years in Iran Building Centrifuges for Iran to make Nuclear power. So this is just an excuse to lead us to war for more Corporate profits and for the Bush crime family to profit from this action.
Bush wants to blame God for all his actions and not saddle it on Cheney where it belongs. By Bush saying God told him to take all the actions he is taking, just shows how far out of touch with reality he is.
Congress is not serving the people or the Constitution,by not living up to their oath of office, by not removing these, out of touch with reality leaders from office.
Bush has elected to place God in control of this Countries fate and that breaks the law of separation of Church and State.
Cheney broke the law by going to Iran and helping them when Iran was under sanctions and it was against US law to aid them at that time.
We need to sue each elected official that is not upholding their oath of office responsibility. and recieving funds from the taxpayer for service not rendered and for not up holding the Constitution of the USA.
By the Congress ignoring their duty to impeach these Crooks they are in contemt for not serving their oath of office duty and by not responding to the Shredding of the Constitution by this Neo-con Administration is fraud and the funds they received should be returned to the taxpayers as they have not lived up to their responsibility to their elected office.
I think there should be a class action suit brought against our elected officials for lying to us when they swore to uphold the oath of office and have refused to do the duty they were elected to do
Congress needs to immediatly remove our troops from this illegal war and bring articles of impeachment against Bush and Cheney for the lies to start this action in Iraq. They also should be arrested and tried for mass war crimes and mass murder under the false pretense of a witch hunt for WMDs.

We all know the war was planned way before 9/11/01 and the oil was the reason. $30 trillion of oil reserves in Iraq would be under the control of the American oil Cartel and that would give America the ability to control the worlds market and price and that would place OPEC in a bad position on the price of oil on the world market and their control as is now.
Impeach them NOW.

America, it's time you cast off the shackles of religion and put it where it belongs, back in the middle ages. There is nothing positive to be gleaned from it that can't be got from rational thought or rule of law. You don't need the bible to define what is moral. Give up your sky faery! He isn't listening! There are people drunk on its hollow promise who are taking you along a path from which there is no return. The only thing that waits at the end of it is death. Good News? I'll give you the good news, it's not to late to save yourselves from darkness.

The leader of your country is a psychopath!

Here are the symptoms:

* 1. Superficial charm and good "intelligence"
* 2. Absence of delusions and other signs of irrational thinking.
* 3. Absence of nervousness or neurotic manifestations.
* 4. Unreliability.
* 5. Untruthfulness and insincerity.
* 6. Lack of remorse or shame.
* 7. Antisocial behavior without apparent compunction.
* 8. Poor judgment and failure to learn from experience.
* 9. Pathological egocentricity and incapacity to love.
* 10. General poverty in major affective reactions.
* 11. Specific loss of insight.
* 12. Unresponsiveness in general interpersonal relations.
* 13. Fantastic and uninviting behavior with drink, and sometimes without.
* 14. Suicide threats rarely carried out.
* 15. Sex life impersonal, trivial, and poorly integrated.
* 16. Failure to follow any life plan.

Ok, number 15, we don't really know, but come on, he's terrible at everything else.

If WWIII happens it will be started by this freak or someone like him. America, you have to started reining these people in!

Scott Ritter bites on Bush Propaganda' con job
Posted by: cognitorex on Oct 23, 2007 10:07 AM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The Ritter article is great, as always, but.

The BushRovian political handbook , part 1A.1, mandates that any and all campaigns be launched with a catchy, repeatable phrase. Part 1A.2 of the handbook, as we all now are thoroughly aware, states that said catchy phrase need not actually be logically consistent or even have any truthful connection with the political agenda so espoused.

Hence WWIII. 'World War Three,' the phrase itself, resonates with fear, honor, duty, glory and patriotism. It's an ideal phrase to start or continue a 'we need to bomb Iran' campaign. But, Mr. Ritter, op-ed writers, bloggers, ladies and gentlemen, it's a phony, non applicable propaganda phrase and you all bite on it. You all bite on it and soon the red state faithful are all saying, "Did ya hear that Bub? This is World War Three." The architects of Propaganda Central pull up the news and web stats for WWIII hits and high fives all around as it dominates the news sphere.

I mean, you are aware that we have 160,000 troops in Iraq seeking to end a civil war we uncorked, while Propaganda Central hands out annual bonuses for the six year old Grand Daddy of 'Phrases that Lie' or distort, i.e. The War on Terror.
War implies troops, guns, planes, massive logistics and yes, we have these things tied up in Iraq but they are not primarily (civil war) or secondarily (occupation..oil) in a terror war.

The worst scenario, which no one favors, is that Iran becomes the rogue state with nuclear weapons. Presently they are a country with 70m people, geographically isolated, socially/religiously fanatically led and militarily circumscribed by American power. This is Iran with or without a bomb. They can wreak fear until they or their weapons are taken out but they can not institute World War Three. They won't have declared allies in arms. They can't and won't leave their borders. No massive troop buildup would be required to disembowel the Mullahs.

Quite simply, the physical requirements necessary to meet any but a incompetent propagandist's definition of a world war are missing. It is propaganda slogan that misleads by design and should be forcefully wrested from public discussion.

Let's have plans for a potential rogue state with nukes. This is the reality.

This administration has a clear, consistent track record of politicizing all major event to the extent that neither Generals nor scientists can pursue reality unfettered by political intrusion and incompetence.

Let's call this World War Three rhetoric for the bull puckey it truly is.

Or, ...."Mister President. I didn't catch that. When will you be announcing you're instituting a draft? ...Surely to meet this impending all-honor, all-glory, clash-of-nations threat we face a troop buildup should be begun immediately."

Who knows what to make of Scott Ritters assessment. Afterall, he's the one who said Iraq presented a grave danger and was critical of the US and UN for not taking action against Iraq. Then all of a sudden, without no further inspections, decided Iraq wasn't such a threat. Money has a way of changing opinions and assessments.

Bush may have gone into the wromng war, but Ritter was right there behind him and Clinton. Ritter is no better than Bush and Co and maybe even worse..a sell out to his true beliefs.

THE Creation?

Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Well, I'm not sure if you are a religious nut yourself, or if you are just pointing out their characteristics for us... so I'll try to stick to facts and issues, and not speculate. Besides, you're entitled to your own religious viewpoint (no matter how screwed up it may be), at least us "OTHERS" are mostly tolerant in that respect, unlike most X'ians.

I assume that by THE creation you mean the "Christian" creation story. If so, your assertion that 80% of the earth believes in THE Creation is simply false.

At last count, approximately 33% of the worlds population is "Christian".

And us "atheists" (I am not an atheist, but fall under the "other" banner) and others that don't fall under a tidy classification of a major religion, accounts for upwards of 16%.

Even if you factor out Islam, these OTHER "non-Christian" religions amount to about 46%, so in other words, there are more of us that DON'T believe in your bible than there are of you that do... even all the different "flavors" of Christianity can't get along or agree on whether its daylight or dark outside (IE Catholics and Protestants)... so the likelihood of any "particular" flavor of Christianity being an actual majority of ANYTHING other than fucknuts is slim at best.

Source

More needless wars have been started, more innocent lives lost and more blood shed over your religion than all other causes combined in history. Not really a great track record for a "Just and loving God" huh? Even more scary is the fact that the GW is as evango-psycho as they come...

As far as the comments about the "End Days", We don't even need to get into the debate about the chronological relevance of the book of revelations... (so how many thousand years would some Arab living in 300 ad consider "soon"?) Or all the other prophetic apocalypses that DIDN'T make it into the New Testament at final editing time... too bad there weren't DVDs back then... they could have put that "extra" info on the "Bonus Features" disc huh?

So instead why don't you look at the question of who on earth, currently in a position of power, your anti-christ might actually be? GW pretty much fits every description from the bible to Nostrodamus... hmmmmm...

However, even though I don't think any religious group should be in control of ANYTHING, and the conservative Christian religious right gets WAAAAAY too much press... I do have to agree with some of your assertions, i.e. - that it is a huge mistake to underestimate the current administration, or minimize their threat by ascribing them as simply stupid buffoons, which is very much not the case. That could also be said of religious zealots of any flavor, especially radical Christian right-wingers as described in your post.

I really wish all the "End Time" whack jobs would just go someplace out of the way and have your little war and kill each other off without dragging the rest of us down with you, or get on your spaceship, or drink the damned kool-aid, or whatever... and just go away...

Your ("Christian in general") prophecies of the "End Times" are simply delusional, antiquated (literally) self-aggrandizing and self-fulfilling psycho-babble. Hopefully, any "End Times" will only be the "End Times" for you and yours, and the rest of us can live on comfortable and unmolested in our "Hell" here when you "ascend..." hell, there might even be something on TV or radio on Sunday mornings worth tuning in for ....

You're free to believe whatever and however you want... just don't expect me to die for your delusion...

... that Bush and Cheney and their ilk follow is endless GREED for ever more money for their trans national friends. Their is no religion or family values or pro-life behind Bush's agenda and the asian religious guy who quit the Bush Office of Faith Based Initiatives and wrote his book revealing his own misgivings about the strength of Bush's religous nature. Bush's real rligion is endless GREED for money and the use of political power to get more money.

If the evangelical fundies ever comprehend that Bush and the Republican Party are USING them for their votes then Bush and his oil/weapons family and the Cheney/Halliburton oil family will be out the door so fast and will never be believed or trusted.

Also one day their will be a HUGE clash between the Armageddonists and the trans national corpotocracy, who I am sure will never allow them, the Armagedonists, to end the world. Corporatios only believe in MONEY, they could care less about religion. Only the religious right has not figured that out yet.

Hellooo Mother Angelica; she is that angry nun who runs EWTN, the Catholic cable channel. She doesn't even obey her own Bishop and was very happy to see him retire. Just wait until she figures out that the Bushie corporate Republican Party has no religious values other than extreme GREED for money and the political power to get money. Mother Anglica wake up, you have been USED so the Republican Party can make money. All they want from you is your vote, and you stupidly gave it to them and what do they do, just more killing.

Nuns really are among the best people on the planet, my aunt was a nun, now deceased. I'm really glad she did not live to see what the Catholic religion has allowed itself to become a part of, namely, the destruction of peoples souls for nothing more than MONEY.

Has the Catholic Church madeother grevious errors of sin. Just remember Hitler and his Nazi Fascists and WWII and the Holocaust.

Though Mothe Angelica and her crew have been USED by the corporatocracy I don't really have a lot of sympathy for her because she allowed herself to be USED for corporate profit via her strong religious/ emotional beliefs. She ignored Jesus admonition to render unto caesar... Mother Anglica promoted the merging of church and state ashave all right wing Catholic Republicans like Tim Russert, Chris Matthews and so many others.

Now O'Reilly and Hannity/Colms are nothing more than corporate whores for Rupert Murdoch and his GREEDY money empire. There is a difference between Tim Russert and Bill O'Reilly, at leastI hope there is. Russert is blinded by his Catholiism but I don't think he is a total corporate whore like O'Reilly and Hannity are. Russert is a whore for NBC, so may be he is the same as O'Reilly.

Exactly what are you Timmy me boy. Speak up or be cast as just another Bill O'Reilly. Now Samuel Alito is a corporate whore as are Scalia and Thomas and Roberts. But not Kennedy, he like Russert and Mother Angelica are just being USED for global corporations, none of whom heavea soul.

So what has protected me from the mindset of the Catholic right wingers. My poverty and my humility and my lack of religious zealotry And the fact that I am aware of WWII and the Holocaust. I am totally committed to, NEVER AGAIN; not while I'm on this earth. And I equally oppose the Holocaust against the Muslims.

What nice guy David Brooks and arrogant guy Bill Kristol don't understand is that I am on their side. I am on the side of pobably most Jewish neocons but NOT on the side of the Gentile neocons(Cheney, Bush, the Bush family, Jeb Bush etc. who are nothing more than corporate killers.

Corporations, Armageddonistas' and Republicans all want WWIII. The Armageddonists want WWIII so the world will end and they will be raptured into heaven. While their cohorts, the corporations and Repubs want it so they will get richer and the Rethugs can cement their hold on political power in America.
It's all a very dangerous mix and might well kill us all.

would have loved this. He was famous for speaking in a way that provided hidden messages. Reporting on his speeches had to be verbatum and with the same voice inflections. Failure to abide by these dicta were grounds for being shot.

Speaking rhetorically is not in the realm of reality for the king of the deciderers. I can just see the press in the parts of the world who might feel a little threatened by such utterances. It is not like we don't already have enough enemies and it is not like there already are not enough people who are terrified of what the United States will do next.

In case there is no doubt among the few still in thrall of shrub, your guy is simply insane.

There may be as many as 300 billion barrels of oil in Iraq; if true, this would mean that Iraq has roughly a quarter of all of the world's oil. 30 trillion or more in the next 20 years. According to the most recent tally by Oil and Gas Journal, Iran houses the second-largest pool of untapped petroleum in the world, an estimated 130 billion barrels. Only Saudi Arabia, with an estimated 260 billion barrels, possesses more.
There is no person or thing that will deter big oil from that untapped wealth, post haste. Get on board or watch with dismay. Washington is at best a bargaining partner and hired mercenary. Utter unchecked willing exploitation on countless levels.

What If "Jesus" Tells Bush to Let Loose the Nukes?

We have to hope Bush does not "give the order" to unleash the nukes. Theoretically, he could. Would the military listen? Do we know? We have to worry that Bush might just decide he is doing "God's will," decided after prayer, no doubt, and after "hearing Jesus telling me what to do." And, despite this, while we have a real danger from a "reformed" alcoholic and coke snorter, we have all these so-called worries about Iran. A country that has not invaded another one's land and not buttressed the military of a local hostile state (Israel). Just who do we need to be afraid of?

I am pretty sure there is no precedent for it, but can a President (and VP, advisors, Cabinet, etc.) be prosecuted for illegalities committed during his term or terms? Is there a statute of limitations? Can it be handled by the DC US District Attorney instead of Congress?

As a person subject to the law like anyone else, it seems that Bush should be, along with Cheney in separate action. Regardless of political ramifications or consequences for precedent, does anybody know for sure if prosecuting a former President for acts committed during office is within the law?

Dry Drunk Syndrome

Bush is a dry drunk - a very real and very dangerous disease!
"Unfortunately when many former drinkers go through the grieving process over the loss of their old friend, the bottle, some never get past the anger stage.
It is a very real loss. The drink has been their friend for many years and one they could count on. When the whole world turned against them, the bottle never let them down. It was always there ready for the good times, the celebrations, the parties, as well as the sad, mad, and lonely times, too."
Dry Drunk Syndrome:

Is George W. a "Dry Drunk"?
By Katherine van Wormer
Katherine van Wormer, Professor of Social Work at the University of Northern Iowa, is co-author of Addiction Treatment: A Strengths Perspective (2002).
Dry drunk is a slang term used by members and supporters of Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse counselors to describe the recovering alcoholic who is no longer drinking, one who is dry, but whose thinking is clouded. Such an individual is said to be dry but not truly sober. Such an individual tends to go to extremes.
It was when I started noticing the extreme language that colored President Bush's speeches that I began to wonder. First there were the terms--"crusade" and "infinite justice" that were later withdrawn. Next came "evildoers," "axis of evil," and "regime change," terms that have almost become clichés in the mass media."
"What is the dry drunk syndrome? "Dry drunk" traits consist of:
Exaggerated self-importance and pomposity
Grandiose behavior
A rigid, judgmental outlook
Impatience
Childish behavior
Irresponsible behavior
Irrational rationalization
Projection Overreaction"

What disturbs me most is that Congress has all of the power it would need to stop this madness, and is failing to use it.

That power doesn't require a veto-proof majority. A simple majority is all that is needed to defund the war, halt expenditures on domestic emergency prison camps and contractor thugs, end the militarization of police with miitary-grade weapons such as armored vehicles and grenade launcher, dismantle Homeland Security, terminate NSA and FBI domestic spy programs, chastise Justice, end CIA renditions, reign in the Pentagon. Money is power.

That they have not used this power suggests to me that the Democrats have been suborned by the same corporatists that pull Dick Cheney's strings.

What we are getting instead is slow-motion kabuki theater. Table-pounding rhetoric meant to convince us to just wait a little longer, Congress might actually do something to restore Constitutional protections and end this nightmarish threat to our democracy and peace. And as we wait, and hope, the noose around our necks is tightening.

And what legislation does Congress send to the President? Full funding for his every request. The Democratic Congress is an enabler of the President. It's not checking his ambitions. We are in very deep trouble, and time is running out.

Why is it intelligent professionals like Scott Ridder are the ones marginalized and the most insane of us become their betters?

Boston Tea Party on steroids!

We need a massive protest. And not one on the streets. The streets could run red with our blood and these war-mongering cretins wouldn't blink.

Let's form a massive tax-protest! If all the progressive sites called on all their members to send their next tax form back with nothing but a bloody hand-print on it, it might bring a change.

The Federal Reserve Bank isn't even part of the government. It's a private bank, hence the IRS is illegal. Not one penny you pay to the FRB/IRS goes to pay for one single service. It pays the interest on the money the FRB prints, which in of itself is unconstitutional, and loans back to us (our money to begin with) at interest rates a loan shark would envy. So what are they going to do if 5 million of us sent them a bloody hand-print? Arrest us all?

Stop the money and you stop the war!

After waging war for 6 years in Iraq and Afghanistan, George Bush is not happy. He is thirsty for more wars. But his time is running out. So he is looking forward for his ultimate fantasy, World War III.

He threatened the world to start World War III unless ....Why the question of World War arises at all? No person on this planet other than George Bush has been thinking about World War. If you are thinking about something, it will come out of your mouth today or tomorrow. That is exactly what happened with George Bush.

The article is fine in its assessment and where due to growing factors, a global war in some highly powerful minds, may make perfect sense. I say this as the greatest threat to humanity is the population explosion and where a major global war would solve this problem. Indeed, there is a minority of humans with considerable wealth and power who see the destruction of others as the savoir of themselves (and their vast wealth it has to be said also). The late Glenn Seaborg(Element 106 Seaborgium) our founding President personally appealed and implored President Truman not to drop the 'bomb' on occupied Japanese territory. The President though through his military advisers took no notice even though he discovered Plutonium and was head of the Plutonium plant on the Manhattan Project. But behind the scenes also at the time, there were dark figures who saw that after the fall of Japan, great wealth could also be secured. These figures manipulate presidents and leaders to their own ends and basically again today, change-master politicians and governments in particular, are in the pocket of very rich and very powerful individuals/multinational companies, who seemingly do not look for peace but in many ways for wars and their own vested economic interests. Thinking that they can survive because they are on the strongest side and the reason why in many ways US$1.2 trillion per annum and growing, is spent on armaments now.
But getting back to humankind's greatest threat (even greater than that of even the warmongers it has to be said) is that of the ever-growing population problem and where I give a little evidence based facts that people may not be aware of.
The population of the world (in absolute numbers) has only to increase year-on-year by a mere 0.85% for there to be 12 billion people by 2075. The current population growth (in absolute numbers) is 1.27% (most recent UN figures), some 26% above the percentage increase for 12 billion humans to exist in 2075. But looking at the present rate of human growth, there would be 15.6 billion human inhabitants living on planet Earth in 67-years time. But again, as growth rates are, in statistical terms (not the best accurate measure by any means), slightly declining year-on-year, let us assume that the growth rate is the average of the two, which is 1.18%, then we would still have 14.7 billion people to support. In every scenario it is something that the world's resources could not possibly support considering rising standards of living throughout the world and where it is predicted that India alone will have over half-billion middle class citizens by 2025 (McKinsey, May 2007) on its present economic path. And a final point, what is happening with statistics is that they are being manipulated as usual. In this respect people say that population is declining statistically, but where in reality as we have a greater number each year for our base-line, the figures are really growing at the same rate as the year before, or close to that. It is a bit of a con job that governments in particular like to use so not to alarm their electorate.
Therefore overall looking at our bleak future in a world with vastly dwindling resources by the decade, a war may very well be on the cards for humankind in this century, and one where this time there will be no winners.
