War on Iraq

George Bush's Al Qaeda Lies Exposed

National Security Network. Posted July 25, 2007.

President Bush is misleading troops about who they are (and are not) fighting in Iraq.

President Bush makes fallacious connections between Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Al Qaeda who attacked the US on 9/11. "Some say that Iraq is not a part of the broader war on terror. They claim that the organization called al Qaeda in Iraq is an Iraqi phenomenon -- that it's independent of Osama bin Laden and it's not interested in attacking America. That would be news to Osama bin Laden. I presented intelligence that clearly establishes this connection. The facts are that al Qaeda terrorists killed Americans on 9/11, they're fighting us in Iraq and across the world, and they're plotting to kill Americans here at home again." [CNN, 7/24/07 ]

The nation's 16 intelligence agencies agree that Al Qaeda has regenerated its ability to strike at the United States through its bases on the Afghan-Pakistan Border. "We assess the group has protected or regenerated key elements of its Homeland attack capability, including: a safe haven in the Pakistan Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), operational lieutenants, and its top leadership." [National Intelligence Estimate, 7/07 ]

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell said that Al-Qaeda "was only 10% of the problem in Iraq and Nouri al-Maliki, its prime minister, lacked the political will to establish an effective government." He went on to say that even even if the military surge has been a partial success in areas such as Anbar province, where Sunni tribes have turned on Al-Qaeda, it has not been accompanied by the vital political and economic "surge" and reconciliation process promised by the Iraqi government. [The London Sunday Times, 7/8/07 ]

Al Qaeda in Iraq is not the same as Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Some of the extremists in Iraq have chosen to call themselves "Al Qaeda in Iraq," and they are in fact inspired by Osama Bin Laden's extremist ideology. While there is some level of cooperation and exchange of information, these groups did not exist in Iraq prior to the invasion in 2003.

President Bush argues that "Al Qaeda is public enemy number one in Iraq. Al Qaeda is public enemy number one for the Iraqi people. Al Qaeda is public -- public enemy number one for the American people." [President Bush, 7/24/07 ]

Al Qaeda in Iraq accounts for 15% of the violence in Iraq. "Anthony Cordesman, a security analyst at the Center for Strategic and International studies says, the U.S. military estimates that al-Qaeda in Iraq, a group thought to number several thousand, accounts for only about 15% of the attacks in Iraq." [Time, 7/30/07 ]

Foreign Jihadist fighters make up less than 10% of the insurgency.
Most intelligence estimates still state that the vast majority of Sunni insurgents are Iraqi. They are not driven by a pan-Islamic ideology of destroying the West and creating a caliphate. Instead, they are fighting either against American forces or against other ethnic groups in Iraq. [Center for American Progress, 6/25/07 ]

The Al Qaeda Threat: Myth vs. Reality

The National Intelligence Estimate reaffirmed that the Bush Administration has made Americans less secure by taking its focus off the real danger in Afghanistan and Pakistan and instead invading Iraq. Almost six years since 9/11, Al Qaeda has established a new safe haven on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and has taken advantage of the operational space afforded by a poorly conceived truce between the Pakistani government and tribal leaders. Meanwhile the invasion of Iraq has fed the Al Qaeda narrative and created a new focal point for the recruitment, fundraising, training and indoctrination of Al Qaeda operatives. Unfortunately, the Administration's response to all of these problems is to continue to pour more troops and funds into Iraq, even as military strategists have concluded that sectarian violence and civil war - not Al Qaeda - are the greatest dangers in the war torn country.

It's time to get out period. Nothing will improve until we do.

It's time to get out at any cost and now. Nothing is going to change in Iraq until we do. The unfortunate truth however is that no one listens to the people in the US. Not even Congress. It's corruption at all levels with no one being held accountable.

How does the US pull out? Simple, pack your bags, and head out. Call it victory, call it loss, but leave. This should be able to happen in no more than 6 months. Forget the oil. But it won't happen.

President Bush is the worst US President in the history of the United States. Removing our rights, provoking FUD in the form of "Axis of Evils" and "Terrorism" while claiming "In God We Trust". What God on earth would put up with this nation of abominations? Let alone a creator that states the greatest of all gifts is the gift of "Love"? If they believed at all, they would concur that the "God of Money" is known to fail time and time again throughout all of history. Yet it appears it is still the deity of choice.

No one will Impeach, no one will do anything. Because it's all part of the plan. We just sit here and watch our rights being suspended and the US turn into a depressed / repressed nation. But we will Impeach a Democratic President for lying about his sex life. Do you understand
how stupid we look to the rest of the world?

Instead of following love and compassion, working with other nations on a broad basis, saving the option of war for an all out last ditch effort, and doing what we can to create stability and peace for all people, we follow war in the name of a single man and those tied to corruption.

People make mistakes, but this is no mistake. This was the plan and we had no clue. Nor were we truly informed.

We need to get out now at any cost. We should not even be there and most Americans believe the same. Most believe it to be a war of agression against another nation. Preemptive war is not the answer and not a solution to the growing issues world wide.

The next several presidents should be working towards building better relations with the rest of the world. Bringing the US closer to it's allies, creating or working to create a more compassionate way of co existence with all neighbors.

We cannot save face, nor should we try. We should put the blame where it should be on the shoulders of the US President who made these decisions and those whom supported the "Global war on Terrorism" in the first place, and move forward with a better and more realistic future for the generations to come.

Problem is, most of whom sit in the high places of our government supported this war. Again, not much of a group of 2008 candidates to choose from that isn't already tied up in the mess. They fell for the war hype and fever as well.

We keep hearing that if we "leave we lose". That we are staying until we win. Okay, what are we going to win? Are going to defeat Global Terrorism in Iraq? Is there such a thing as defeating what has existed since the beginning of time? No. And this rationale seems to be more borderline mental illness than anything else.

Defend our borders. Stay home. Quit policing the world. If we are attacked and we can "PROVE" whom did it, then go after just those people who committed the crime. If not, we should not rain hail and thunder on nations that had little to nothing to do with it. Nations that would be doing well to threaten us with no more than a sling shot and a rock.

"Perpetual War", "Perpetual Terrorism" FUD is not an option and should not be tolerated of any society as a definition of any kind.

I see little hope for change in 2008 in the slightest of form.
Appease the people with words and vote the opposite. That is what we currently operate under.

This is just an opinion. Just one.

Resisting the Drum of War

From a psychological perspective, the Bush administration promoted the misguided and destructive war in Iraq by targeting five core concerns that often govern our lives--concerns about vulnerability, injustice, distrust, superiority, and helplessness. Looking ahead to September and beyond, the continuing occupation of Iraq--or an attack on Iran--will likely be sold to us in much the same way. I examine these warmongering appeals--and how to counter them--in a 10-minute YouTube video entitled “Resisting the Drums of War” available for viewing HERE.

There are at least two who had the vision and wisdom BEFORE becoming presidential candidates to see the folly of an Iraq war!

Aristocrats do not lie!

Aristocrats depend on underlings to do their dirty work, like raise their children, clean their commodes, keep the yard and garden looking manicured, etc. So, Pres Bush has been given some dubious information from his underlings and he believed it to be true, so he never told any "lies." His underlings are the ones at fault. Another thing about aristocrats, they protect their underlings, e.g. Scooter Libby. So, here in America in the year 2007, we cannot accuse the President of lying. That's why FOX News, CNN, NBC et al never report the "lies" because if President Bush lied, it would be the main topic of news and both he and Cheney would immediately be impeached. But, remember, President Bush has never told a lie in his life, because aristocrats do not lie. This is part of the New World Order in which Pres Bush #1 spoke of. Poor people lie. Liberals lie. Alternative media outside of the MSM lie. We have to understand this and live with it. So remember, every one remember, ARISTOCRATS DO NOT LIE.

Both wings of the WarParty are agreed on the need to occupy Iraq because the oil is meant to fuel America's Pax Americana. And that is not going to change with Obama, Clinton, and Edwards as the candidate.

Boycott/Strike 08!

. . and may get it. It has worked pretty well so far.

Push towards narrowing the minds of citizens, feed them platitudes.

I loved this one, from a speech earlier this week:
"There's a reason they call them Al Qaeda in Iraq, see, they're Al Qaeda . . . they're Al Qaeda . . . and they're in Iraq".

Bush said that as though he were explaing some complex phenomenon to a bunch of serious students who just weren't as brilliant as him.

I don't know about you, but suddenly it was all much clearer to me. I didn't hear one single raspberry from the congregation. For all I could tell, this little gem was received like a sublime epiphany.

Tell us we have plenty of oil! Tell us we can have cake and ice cream for every meal and grow ever healthier and more fit. Tell us you understand the problems and know how to fix them. Tell us our lives are secure.

Just don't tell us to think for ourselves.

general public?

George Washington told us to think of native Americans as wolves & wild beasts. In other words, as long as Native Americans were viewed as beasts they did not have rights to the land that was being stolen by the Europeans.

Similar logic was used to justify slavery, and it was accepted by the general public.

Vietnam was invaded and the use of Agent Orange (started by the beloved Kennedy) to this day is causing horrendous birth defects. Yet there is no remorse by Americans for causing such destruction. After all they are all just "gooks", and hence not really humans.

Now it is the Muslims. 700000 dead Iraqis as a direct result of US invasion. The death squads unleashed by the same folks (Gates, Negroponte etc) who perfected the techniques in Latin America during Reagan administration, have created the perfect 'divide & rule' situation.

And Americans voted twice to elect Bush & the same democrats who voted for this genocide.

When do we hold ourselves accountable?

Nouri al-Maliki does not lack the political will this is just more Washington BS. The US has taken away his chips and then complains that he can not play in the game. Give him the one big chip he needs and watch how fast Iraq stabilizes. Give him a national oil chip, oh that’s the one Bush and Co. wants.

"Al Qaeda" is the last-ditch strategy to Save War Inc. NeoCons

The renewed proliferation of Al Qaeda, Al Quaeda, Everywhere, is nothing more than a WH Political Strategy to delay and defer across the board Rebellion from the American People and now-nervous War-Congress. Approval ratings cannot get lower without a serious threat of Popular Upheaval, and the situation calls for an ultra-coordinated (read; Rove/Cheney) Attack on American Consciousness in the name of Saving Our Fears.

The article does a good job demonstrating the purpose of DHS, without mentioning it explicitly, that the New American Department of Offense Requires Interdepartmental (neocon) Coordination and (neocon) Oversight to get things clicking! This latest round of Public-Hijacking is costing them some friends, however, due thankfully to a statistically high and growing skepticism of Everything NeoCon.

Help us bring these Monsters to Justice, Demand a Full and Open Accounting and Investigation of All the Crimes of 911!

Dub-ya is guilty of treason, according to the late GOP Senator Barry Goldwater.

Read the feisty Arizonian’s 1960 masterpiece, The Conscience of a Conservative, and you will learn that REAL conservatives don't come close to Herr Busch and his goose-stepping goons.

For example, Barry despised neocons, believed women had a right to abortions, approved of gays in the military and was vehemently opposed to so-called nation-building. And, of course, he believed in balance budgets, fair taxation and the U.S. Constitution -- all cornerstones of true conservatism.

But most important to me, with Iraq on my mind, Sen. Goldwater was adamant in his views about achieving victory on the battlefield.

Wrote Barry on page 89 of Conscience of a Conservative (hardcopy edition):

“If an enemy power is bent on conquering you, and proposes to turn all his resources to that end, he is at war with you. And unless you contemplate surrender, you are at war with him. Moreover -- unless you contemplate treason -– your objective will be victory.”

Based on Barry’s reasoning, Bush is a traitor. Otherwise, he would have eliminated Al Qaeda in Afghanistan four years ago instead of invading Iraq.

Case closed on the most dishonest and incompetent commander-in-chief in U.S. history.

Hugh E. Scott, Vietnam vet and the editor of nonprofit investigative website, King-George.biz, which features the only hardcopy proof of White House corruption ever found on the Internet.

Is it me or maybe I am wrong. We keep seeing on TV and reading in the media that Bush has lied , cheated, and a whole lot more, but when it comes time to do something no one has the Power, Balls, or GUTS to stand up and follow through with it.
This country is in a world of lies from the White House down and nothings being done. IHMO the candidates for the next term are all liars and hypocrites also. Look at the Gonzales issue, there just spinning there wheels with hearings , Bet ya Bush uses his executive decision thingy to save Gonzales, Cheney's still doing what he wants to do and no ones stopping him. So how do we fix this mess ? Wait till 2009 and get someone else coming in thats says one thing and does not follow through with it all over again.?
