War on Iraq

Remembering Marla

Posted by Tai on May 11, 2005 @ 3:08PM

Marla Ruzicka's friends and colleagues are determined not to let her memory die -- nor her work on behalf of innocent victims of conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. On Saturday, May 14 in Washington DC, Sen. Patrick Leahy will host a tribute to Marla in the Senate Caucus Room (325 in the Russell Building) from 2-4pm. The roster of guests is evidence of how connected Marla was -- among those slated to speak are Samir Shakir Sumaidaie, Iraqi ambassador to the United Nations; Senator Dianne Feinstein; war correspondents Peter Bergen and Steve Connors; and Tom Malinowski, director of Human Rights Watch.

A reception will immediately follow the event at Perry's Restaurant at the corner of Colombia Rd. and Biltmore St. NW, in Adams Morgan. The public is invited to both events. For more information, visit CIVIC Worldwide.
