Unions Organize Against the War

Posted by lakshmi on January 16, 2003 @ 11:10AM

Here is the singlemost important sign of the strength of the opposition to the war: union members around the nation are joining the anti-war movement in droves. Last week, more than a hundred trade union leaders in Chicago – many of whom supported the Gulf and Vietnam wars – launched a new organization called U.S. Labor Against the War.

In more good news, more than 50 Bay Area labor unions plan to march this Saturday in San Francisco – that is twice as many as those who attended the huge antiwar demostration in October.
