The 2008 presidential election was the most expensive on record, but this year's contest promises to break that record, due in part to the new rules of political fundraising.
The 99% is more generous, and gives primarily to the church, while the 1% is more connected to cultural institutions that offer some payoff in social status.
It's a good rule of thumb: If the Chamber is whipped up about something, there's probably good reason for the public to back whatever has sent them into fits.
