As someone who has spent years chronicling racism, I know that the average black cop battles against far more prejudice than most of the young, white radicals who came to LA could ever hope to imagine. Not to recognize that those same cops could be allies, not enemies, is an arrogance and immaturity the new movement cannot afford.
