Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?

By Steven Rosenfeld, AlterNet. Posted March 21, 2008.

As the board of election in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, where Cleveland is located, launches an investigation into illegal crossover voting in the state's 2008 presidential primary, a big open question remains unanswered: Will county officials go after the ringleaders of apparently illegal electioneering where thousands of Republican voters swore -- under penalty of law -- allegiance to the Democratic Party in order to vote for Hillary Clinton?

In case you missed it, Rush Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama. And that Tuesday, as media in both states reported, thousands of Republicans did just what Limbaugh and others had suggested -- they changed parties to vote for Clinton.

"I want Hillary to stay in this, Laura," Limbaugh told Laura Ingraham on Feb. 29, near the start of his Hillary crusade. "This is too good a soap opera. We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically, and it's obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it and don't have the stomach for it, as you probably know."

And on Wednesday, the day after the Ohio primary, Fox News asked Clinton if she owed Limbaugh a thank you. "Be careful what you wish for, Rush," she replied. Later that day, Limbaugh played the Fox tape on his show and said, "How do you interpret this, folks? She could have said thank you. She could have said thank you! In fact, I was expecting in her victory speech last night to be thanked.

"I helped give Mrs. Clinton the biggest and happiest moment and night of the campaign season so far, maybe her life, and she tells me, "Be careful what you wish for, Rush"? Why, that sounds like a threat, does it not? I've got a Democrat presidential candidate threatening your host. Why, I am stunned! After all I did ..."

While this all makes for great talk radio and sounds like fun, there is one catch: What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail. That is because in order to change party affiliation in Ohio, voters have to fill out a form swearing allegiance to that party's principles "under penalty of election falsification."

On Thursday, March 20, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the "Cuyahoga County Board of Election has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary." According to the report, "One voter scribbled the following addendum to his pledge as a new Democrat: "For one day only."

"Such an admission amounts to voter fraud," the report continued, attributing that conclusion to BOE member Sandy McNair, a Democrat. The report said the four-member board -- two Democrats and two Republicans -- had yet to vote on whether it would issue subpoenas, although Ohio's secretary of state, Democrat Jennifer Brunner, is empowered to cast tie-breaking votes when the BOE is deadlocked.

In 2008, 2.22 million Ohioans voted in the Democratic primary, compared to 1.27 million in 2000, according to unofficial results released by Brunner's office. In contrast, 1.01 million Ohioans voted in the 2008 Republican primary, compared to nearly 918,000 people in 2004.

Both Ohio's secretary of state and attorney general, both Democrats, were reluctant to embrace the prospect of voter fraud prosecutions.

"Secretary of State Brunner has not been contacted by anyone regarding the prosecution of alleged improper crossover voting," Brunner spokesman Jeff Ortega said. "Prosecution of such activities is the exclusive domain of the county prosecutor or the Ohio attorney general."

"We will not make a blanket statement that we would never pursue a case such as that, but it would be our position that a case such as that would be very hard to prosecute," said Ted Hart, spokesman for Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann, who added that a senior attorney in his office said it would be difficult to ascertain voters' motives on particular days. "The county prosecutor would have the first right of refusal."

But Michael Slater of Project Vote, a nonpartisan group that designs voter registration drives for low-income people, said GOP meddling in the Ohio Democratic Primary was a clear-cut example of fraudulent voting, which is how Republicans have defined the issue in recent years, as GOP advocates have urged state legislatures and Congress to adopt anti-fraud measures such as tougher voter ID laws.

"Here we have a real instance of spurring people on to engage in illegal election activities with a real intent to affect the outcome," Slater said. "That is voter fraud. People were encouraged to break the law. They had to declare allegiance to a political party and sign a document under penalty of perjury. Intent is what matters in voter fraud."

For years, Republicans have literally made a federal case of voter fraud. The Bush Justice Department fired U.S. attorneys who would not prosecute cases of people who GOP politicos believed were impersonating voters to help Democratic candidates.

Voting rights groups such as ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which registers millions of low-income people in presidential election years, have been prosecuted by U.S. attorneys for voter fraud -- even after ACORN followed the law and alerted the FBI about mistakes made by its volunteers.

After 2004, Republican-controlled legislatures in Florida and Ohio passed laws, now overturned, curtailing voter registration drives under the guise of fighting voter fraud. Meanwhile, numerous states have passed new and tougher voter I.D. laws, all aimed at stopping people who purportedly were impersonating voters.

"I think this is Rush and others inspiring people to commit voter fraud," Slater said. "They should be brought under investigation."

What can one possibly say regarding the intelligence of a group of people who would proudly refer to themselves as "Dittoheads"? The fact that anyone could take a bloviating gas bag like Rush Limbaugh seriously is one of the mysteries of the age. Fifty years from now, historians will look back on the first decade of the twenty-first century, jaws dropped in disbelief, and will wonder what the hell were the American people thinking when they made this jack ass the highest rated radio host of the era.

Al Franken had it right: Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot. If you haven't read that book, you really ought to. Come to think about it, anything by Franken is highly recommended.

When we look back on reactionary commentators of the past - Westbrook Pegler, for instance - 20/20 historical hindsight makes them look like the fools they were. Even though in their time they were taken perfectly seriously. I can just imagine the judgement history will render on Limbaugh. It ain't gonna pretty.

Regardless of whether or not Rush is guilty of breaking some law, he should be charged with being not only stupid, but spewing hate much the same way Wright spews it.

Isn't there a law where both can be locked away..together!

See this is what is wrong with the Democratic people in positions to flex their authority. Republicans would run with this like a pit bull with a rabbit in it's mouth! I'm sick of them now.

This all goes along perfectly with just how comfortable American conservatives are with lying, including lying about being Democrats.

...and yes, Rush Limbaugh is scum. Look how he irrationally interprets the "be careful what you wish for" quote of Hillary's as a threat:

"That sounds like a threat, doesn't it?" (Uh...No Rush. It really doesn't. At all.)

...which then gets ported over to this:

"I'm being threatened by a presidential candidate."

What a pea-brain. He would fail any semantics class for leaps of logic like that, and probably so would most of his listeners.

Note to Ohio Att. Gen: It's not that hard--find one of those "for a day" people, supoena him/her, put him/her under oath to testify that the only reason s/he did it was because Limbaugh told everyone to do it. It's like getting a drug mule to testify against a drug lord, with the promise of light/no prosecution for the mule. There you have evidence of conspiracy to commit voter fraud. Then drag Limbaugh's fat ass into court. Seriously. It's not hard.

I listened to Limbaugh unambiguously encourage his Republican listeners to cross over and vote for Hillary. His intention was obvious. Callers to his show said they had crossed over at his behest, and he expressed his satisfaction at their actions.

In a unanimous opinion in the case of Schenk v. United States, the Supreme Court upheld the criminal conviction of a man who encouraged the breaking of the law in leaflets he printed and distributed - simply a different form of mass media.

In the Court's opinion, Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. wrote, "The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man falsely shouting fire in a theater and causing a panic. [...] The question in every case is whether the words used are used in such circumstances and are of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent."

This case is unambiguous. Rush Limbaugh repeatedly stated his intention to subvert the nomination process, and ultimately the election by affecting the selection of a Democratic nominee.

While some officials might find it politically difficult to take on such a paragon of the far right, legally it would not be difficult at all.

That's exactly what Limbaugh is all about. Limbaugh is for mindless morons who think that they've got it so good and things will stay that way as long as they continue to worship the scum that Limbaugh shills for. Sorry, but it dont work that way. Limbaugh's controllers are raping the living daylights out of his beloved audience too. They only think they are getting ahead. You will never get ahead by listening to someone who talks to you like you're a retarded 6 year old.

Listen to Alex Jones. He may be a kook, but these are kooky times. If that isnt clear to the yuppies right now, it will become much more clear in the coming years.

I EXCERIZED MY RIGHT TO EXPRESS MY OPINION. MY CHOICE. AND I AM PROUD OF BEING ABLE TO DO THAT.

OF COURSE THERE IS ONE BIG DIFFERENCE.
I LIVE IN MASSACHUSETTS.
MASS HAS NO SUCH STUPID AND RESTRICTIVE LAW. IN MASSACHUSETTS (THE CRADLE OF LIBERTY) YOU ONLY NEED TO BE A REGISTERED VOTER. YOU CHOOSE WHICH BALLOT YOU WANT AT THE POLL. AND YOU DON'T NEED TO SWEAR TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN THAT YOU ARE WHO YOU SAY YOU ARE.
THAT IS DEMOCRACY. WHAT THE HELL IS OHIO AND TEXAS THINKING?
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE RUSH BROUGHT DOWN, BUT HE IS REALLY A FLEA ON THE ASS OF THE ELEPHANT.
IF IT IS A LAW AND HE BROKE IT THEN FINE. BUT IN ALL HONESTY IT IS A STUPID AND I BET UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAW.

Rush Limbaugh clearly, unambiguously encouraged people to undermine the the basic, fundamental tenant of American democracy; fair, open, honest elections. He also trivialized that very process. Day after day chicken-hawk Limbaugh glorifies the bloody sacrifices of men and women spreading democracy in Iraq, but here at home it's just a "soap opera". Putting aside the hypocrisy, as in Ohio electronic voting shenannigans in 2004, Florida vote theft in 2000, it is clear that American conservatives believe in their hearts that they could not win an open, fair and honest election.

Democrats were doing the same thing, and it's disgusting either way.
Democrats were sending e-mails, making phone calls etc. encouraging Democratic voters in MI and FL to switch parties and vote for Romney. In MI you can vote in either party's primary.
As long as there are so many people willing to CHEAT we will continue to have corruption in government. And as long as there are unlimited amounts of money needed to get elected, we will have only corporate run elections and freeze out decent, law abiding, qualified people from ever again being president.

Are you trying to increase Rush's influence? Even an attempt to have him indicted on something as silly as crossover voting would simply serve to further inflame his already ardent listeners. That would be a sure way to take him from 20 million faithful listeners to 30 million overnight!

Except for the handful of idiots who wrote notes on their applications, the only way to prove fraud would be to know who voted for Hillary in the primary and McCain in the general. If there's a way to know how any specific person voted in the general election, then we've got bigger fraud problems than Rush might be causing!

Shouldn't they just make it so that you can only vote in one primary in every state?

It seems like the most effective thing would be that if you want to switch parties, you have to do it before Iowa and that you can then only vote in that party primary. If you are registered independent, you should choose which one you want to vote in more.

And if you forget to change, or register which one you want to vote in, tough luck. That's the closest thing I can think of to fair, without having to change the whole crappy primary system.

Texas Crossover's

Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
In Texas, where there was some crossover voting, it wasn't illegal. As one dyed in the wool Republican told me, I am exercising my Constitutional right to vote in the Primary of my choosing. And, sadly, he had a point. (This same Republican narrowly missed being elected a Precinct Delegate for Hillary, a fact he is still trying to live down)
In Texas, one can vote in either Primary, but not both. And one can only Caucus where one voted.
Voter ID is stamped as to which Primary you vote in.
There is no rule that you must prove membership nor allegiance to that Party. Just that you are eligible to vote and didn't vote in the other Primary.
As to anybody listening to, let alone following the 'instructions' of a hypocritical pill popping hate monger, that ought to be grounds for disqualification in itself.
Face it, this was only done to spare McCain the embarrassment of losing to a Black male.
Pigpen obviously feels that he can spread lies about Hillary easier than he can Barack.

the day before the Texas primary. If memory serves.

With that in mind, let's not overlook the really amazing fact that Bill and Rushie were kind of tag-teaming this one. And that Bill was fully aware of what Rush was doing.

If there is one thing you can say about Bill, it's that he isn't stupid. He would have known it was illegal.

I hope to see the day in the not too distant future when the Clintons and the DLC, just by being themselves, become so politically toxic that not even the supine DNC will be willing to entrust any more elections to them.

From the article:

That is because in order to change party affiliation in Ohio, voters have to fill out a form swearing allegiance to that party's principles "under penalty of election falsification."

Any Republican that crossed over to vote for Clinton, and then votes for McCain in the general election, can use the following defense:

I do have allegiance with the democratic party principles. However, it is my view that McCain more soundly represents those actual principles than the democratic nominee does

And Limbaugh can use that defense as well.

As much as I hate Limbaugh, I'm a really big fan of free speech, and voters getting to vote however they choose.

Maybe its not far, well close your primary or deal with it. Your media lob softballs at McCain until he became "the guy" and now you try to hit him hard with "he is old" news stories. You get what you deserve Democrats.
Keep Hillary in it so we can win it!

IN A RECENT SAN FRANSISCO NEWSPAPER THE CITY ADDITION, AND ARTICLE REVEALS KARL ROVE'S STRATEGY TO WILL THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. HE HAS ASKED REPUBLICANS TO VOTE FOR OBAMA IN THE PRIMARIES SO HE IS THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE. THEN IN NOVEMBER, THE REPUBLICAN CROSSOVER VOTERS WILL CROSS BACK TO THE REPUBLICAN SIDE AND THIS COUNTRY WILL CONTINUE UNDER A REPUBLICAN PLUOCACY.
THEY CAN'T BEAT HILLARY BUT THEY KNOW THEY CAN BEAT OBAMA.

We've covered pompous, arrogant, and meddlesome...but those aren't exactly criminal offenses.

You could throw "conspiracy" to commit a felony out there, but he never told anyone to lie, he more or less told his general audience, and a few callers, that he thought it would be just dandy if they switched parties and came out for Clinton.

In the same way that it isn't a crime to yell out "We should throw this president behind bars!", whereas actually tossing him across the bar of his favorite Texas roadhouse would be...I don't imagine how this thing is going to play out with Limbaugh in court.

I'm not that well versed in the legal system, especially in Ohio, but if running his silly flap over the silly games the democrats and republicans play called "primaries/caucauses/preference polling" was going to get him thrown up the river...then I suspect he'd be doing hard time by now.

So...what then? RICO? Over meddling in a politically contrived process--for parties' sakes, rather than citizens'--to cement and perpetuate the two-party system that feels most comfortable to the Parties of Money and Power?

Meh. Maybe. Very Bushayan way of doing things though--if you don't like what they're saying, use government lawyers backed by government tanks to shut them the hell up!

I mean, c'mon - the guy wasn't busted for drug smuggling, drug possession or doctor shopping. He's as bullet proof as Libby and Rove, for the same reasons.

If you don't like a conservative messing with your primaries then change the open primary formats or make it so you can't change your party on the day you vote. It is the demorats that want to make it easy for that anyone, even illegals, can vote with no questions asked. I love watching Billary and O'bomba trading body blows... and it is only going to get nastier. LOL :)

I agree, Rush really came up with stroke of genius. With the current self-induced turmoil in the democratic party and a little tweeking by Republicans, it looks pretty certain the democrats will be on the outside looking in for 8 more years. It's hard to imagine the majority of "typical white people" choosing Obama over McCain now and it seems a heck of a lot of democrats think about the same of HRC as republicans. It doesn't take a crystal ball to see how this is going to turn out. I urge each and every one of you to go to this link (http://www.johnmccain.com/pathtovictory)and donate. It's just the right thing to do.

It amazes me how thoroughly Limbaugh's Hate-Radio-Speak has permeated our culture. Even those who speak of election fraud refer to it as "voter fraud" like it is the voters committing the fraud. Should I congratulate Limbaugh on what a great propagandist he is to plug in this misnomer so thoroughly into our election-speak?? No. I should contact the FCC, the FEC, the EAC, and the Voting Rights Section of the Civil Rights division of the Department of Justice and ask politely for them to file lawsuits....—as if it would do any good.
FIRST OF ALL, the FCC would not care if I complained that corporate media pundits can make stuff up and pass it off to the public as truth. They'd just tell me it's done all the time. Yes, they do it all the time now that there are only crony operatives at the helm of the FCC do to the fascist corporate media's bidding. They won't enforce the Rule of Law. To quote Dick Cheney, they would also say,"So?"
What about the FEC? The FEC literally has no one at the helm right now (Crony fascist Von Spakovsky had a little trouble with his nomination to the post) so they aren't even an enforcing body right now.
The EAC only cares about how they are going to help the vendors rig the next election with their software. Besides, they don't want to dirty themselves with "voter fraud" now anymore. Don't you think it would be too much to ask of them especially considering that they have been there, done that, commissioned the study that proved there really is no documented evidence of voter fraud. Please, they've buried that report because it didn't prove what they wanted. Steve, can't you just let buried reports stay buried?
So, are we going to go to the Voting Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division? Good luck with that. Last I heard, John K. Tanner, Bush crony and dumbass excuse-maker, was still camped out in his old office from the job he resigned from as Voting Section Chief, Civil Rights Division, DOJ just a week earlier. He's a sentimental guy I guess. Oh, you won't find anyone there to enforce the Rule of United States Election Law there either. Just ask David Eglesias, former USA of Arizona who was fired because he refused to bring "voter fraud" cases as HE COULD NOT FIND ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO BRING SUCH A CASE. How dare he be so ethical? Doesn't he know there's a unitary executive branch that needs to be in force? Iglesias and many other former USA's will also tell you they were fired for not making up fiction. But here in Ohio? Our mental Republican legislature passed House Bill 3 of 2005 with strict Voter ID provisions that still stand and are perfectly fine with our SoS Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat who curiously, at one time, testified AGAINST the stringent ID provision in HB 3. Why the change of heart, Jennifer? This, even though "voter fraud" has proven to be a fake argument that pushed those repugnant voter ID provisions into Ohio HB 3 in the first place, Brunner thinks they are JUST FINE. Read about the misadventures of Thor Hearne, Karl Rove operative and their RNC front organization American Center for Voting Rights which promoted the fake crisis of voter fraud. ACVR was in the business of drumming up the phony case for "voter fraud" around the same time House Bill 3 passed our legislature. From HAVA all the way down to Ohio House Bill 3 and our lame elected officials, our elections in Ohio are still a BIG LIE. That is why I decided I needed to organize a Citizen Exit Poll for Ohio's primary. McCain's numbers were paltry even though he won Ohio's Republican primary. But Hillary's? Wow! Should I congratulate Rush Limbaugh for promoting actual "voter fraud" so successfully? I could, even though nothing will happen, also try calling SoS Jennifer Brunner, Ohio Senate Rules Chair Bill Harris, Attorney General Marc Dann, John K. Tanner, Hans Von Spakovsky, Karl Rove, Thor Hearne, Donetta Davidson, All five FCC Commissioners, John Conyers, Waxman's committee...

endorse/support Hillary Clinton? Will it be the Klan, Duke, or the skinheads? Every registered voter has a right to vote. Breaking the law to do so is appalling. It seems that Senator Clinton is going after racist votes. That saddens me since I was initially going to vote for her.

Keep in mind that Mr. Limbaugh is highly PAID to do what he does. Whose lackey he is I do not know. The real culprits are the ones who sign his paychecks.

He wants to "bloody" Barack. Curious choice of words. The language of a lyncher? That is the real problem. It is incitive. Senator Clinton could not possibly openly thank him. Her husband did appear on Mr. Limbaugh's show during that timeframe. That was as bad as it could get.

For years, conservative talk radio hosts have campaigned against so-called "welfare cheats," and the proverbial "lady in a Cadillac collecting Welfare checks." Never mind that the biggest collectors of welfare in America today are her corporations, especially when you look at the Fed's multi-billion dollar bailouts going on. But, the bottom line for Limbaugh is that Obama is getting traction as a "black man." For Limbaugh, the "black man" is primarily just a mainstay of America's 1.5 million prison population. He doesn't want to work hard, is lazy and for Limbaugh, further evidence of his inferiority is his continued support of the Democratic Party. Limbaugh and his ilk ultimately would like to even see a return to the USA of "the old South." An old South where "darkie" knew his place, along with "all them other minority types." This is what it is all about.

I detest Limbaugh and his "Limbaugh Lemmings." But I seriously doubt anyone will get indicted for swithching parties to vote in the Democratic Primary. As for swearing allegience to some political party, here in America? Well maybe that's how its done up north but down here in Louisiana, you just register for whatever party you want. And if you decide to switch, you just go to the registrar of voters and change your party registration. As for classifying the changing of parties as a felony, oh that's just great. Bring on the thught police! I'll wager a month's pay that, if charges were brought, they wouldn't get a conviction. And if the prosecution did get a conviction, it would never stand on appeal.

I, for one, am angry at the way this was handled by the Ohio Board of Elections. As someone who worked the polls in Central Ohio as a first time primary elections volunteer (and who went to the required 3-hour training session, took notes at the session, and read the book of the materials given to me pertaining to my role as a roster judge), I was NOT informed by ANYONE beforehand that a voter who came into my precinct and openly asked to switch parties at the roster table was supposed to sign a form agreeing to the principles of the other Party whose ballot he or she was now requesting. In what is normally a Republican suburban Columbus precinct, far more voters than I expected asked to vote the Democratic ballot, and many asked me when they signed in if they could switch parties that day. Some told me specifically that they wanted to vote for Hillary in order to affect the outcome of the Democratic nomination. I told them yes, they could indeed choose to vote on the Democratic ballot, even if they were registered as a Republican--and I certainly was not told to ask them about their allegiance to the Democratic Party or to fill out any kind of form. Had I been informed of the law, I would have asked those voters switching parties to sign the required form--as the roster judges in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County were obviously told to do. What's up with that?!

Having said that, I understand that it can also be used as a strategy to get rid of corrupt officials like Kenneth Blackwell in Ohio who sold his soul to the Republican party and help throw the election in 2004.I am no Pollyanna, but this was done to preserve democracy, not to ensure party rule.

As long as we have ethically challenged Republicans with the "do anything to win" mentality, we will have to resort to being crafty to ensure honest elections.

Meanwhile, taking steps to ensure democracy is the patriotic thing.
Get involved at the polls as observers, poll workers and exit pollers. It's really the patriotic thing to do.

During the 90s, a European friend discovered who Rush Limbaugh was and what he does and wondered out loud why no one had tried to kill him yet. In a lot of countries, a public figure who spread the kind of lies and hate he does would find it risky to be out in public. Instead, it's the progressives, environmentalists, and anti-racists in the US who get regular death threats, are considered uncool, and get targeted for smear campaigns. Another sign that the US is the opposite of #1.

What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail. That is because in order to change party affiliation in Ohio, voters have to fill out a form swearing allegiance to that party's principles "under penalty of election falsification."

That's obscene. I hope whoever gets punished by the law for switching to vote takes their case to the supreme court -- and wins.

Why would you assume, just because Rush Limbaugh says so, that the majority of crossover, republican voters in Ohio voted for Clinton? Obama-drones just can't comprehend that Hillary Clinton has overwhelming support among blue collar workers, with or without the support of their unions. Some Obama backers have taken an elitist position that anyone who can't see what they have selectively chosen to see in Obama, aided by the media's crush on him, is uninformed, and, by extension, unworthy of deciding the Democratic candidate.

Hasn't it been Obama who has incessantly made a point of saying that many republicans have told him that they support him? Also, why would you put any faith into what the media are saying? Republicans have been manipulating the public for years, with the conscious or unconscious help of the media.

Instead of concerning ourselves with what the republican leadership is thinking, and choosing our candidate on this basis, why can't we look at the records, policies and character strengths of both candidates, and vote accordingly? Of course this would mean discounting the anti-Clinton bias that republicans have planted in the minds of most of the public, through their 16 year campaign of spreading nontruths & half-truths. This bias is a ready made excuse for many Obama supporters to never give Hillary Clinton her due.

His reward is on the way:

He's going straight to his retirement home in Obscurity, where his money will last for maybe, two years. His drug habit, however, will go on forever.

Next stop: A security position in The Mall of Hell, where he'll be fired for stealing Oxycontin from the CVS delivery truck. The money he gets for selling his story to his ex-buddy Murdoch's main periodical will finance his final overdose.

If Rush Limbaugh told anyone to rob a bank, would that make Rush guilty of bank robbery? I don't like what he did, and I don't like Rush. I also don't like the wet-brain (but aptly named) "dittoheads" who went along with his pleas and perhaps broke the law.

But their potential felonies do not make Rush guilty, and we should beware the mis-use of criminal prosecutions to silence radio messages we don't like.

Department ran by Karl Rove they probably would. When the Justice Department is finally purged of all the political operative hacks installed to file questionable voter fraud cases and when the Governor of Alabama who could not be defeated fairly and was sent to prison on false charges fiinally gets an honest day in court we can talk about what justice REALLY looks like in this country. Why does rush limpballs hate the Constitution?

According to Ohio voter law, a person must swear allegiance to democrat party "principles" when switching parties. Rush Limbaugh could avoid the horrors and costly expense of prosecution he can ill afford if he simply ask democrats - "what exactly are your principles."
Could it be - Higher taxes? Big intrusive government? A weak military? More regulations? Friendly and supportive of terrorists?
PLEASE - lets get democrats to clearly state what principles they stand for...it would be very entertaining to me.

I left ObamaNet here a long time ago, only came here because Rense unfortunately linked to it, and this is all I'm going to say, RovebotNet:

What Limbaugh did was nth hour (and it is ALWAYS the nth hour when it comes to the Hillary campaign due to Rove's Tool Barry) back pedaling cover for what the GOP has been doing for Obama SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING.

In every state Obama "won", GOP "switchers" came out in DROVES to "switch" and vote for their man, Rove's Tool. The exit polls showed this. Where was Rosenfeld's article then? Where's Rosenfeld's article on all of Barry's big GOP big money backers?

Anyone in their right mind who thinks that ANYONE in the racist NaziGOP for a single second would actually switch parties just so they could REALLY VOTE FOR A BLACK MAN is not just a few cans short of a sixpack, but 100% certifiably insane. That party wouldn't even take Naziamerikkkan War Criminal Queen Rice as a Veep.

This momentarily absolutely futile lapse in my boycott of ObamaRoveNet and the ObamaRove Choir and their Choirleader is now finished.

Don't bother responding; I won't even be back to read the replies. My time is much better spent elsewhere where people ACTUALLY HAVE A CLUE.

Look when are you people going to wake up an realize that it is ONE PARTY. A lot of Republicans crossed over in 2006 to get Bush@Cheney impeached, nothing happened. We also wanted a end to the war, 70,000 KIA and counting. We have real inflation here around 12%, along now with world wide increases for FOOD. A mad rush to Israel by both parties candidates to kiss the Masonic Signit rings and swear total allegiance while we are on the verge of another hyper inflation wage loss. Our borders are wide open, while we check grey haired old ladies for bombs at the airport. When will we wake up? When will we ask why our Social Security money was stolen from us, and replaced with IOU's? 2005 we were still putting in over 300 billion more reserve notes than we were paying out. If that money was invested in normal Stocks,Bonds, and moneymarket funds since the DOW was 600 back when it was stolen, NO ONE WOULD HAVE TO WORK NOW! Wake up people before these ONE PARTY NWO TRASH kill you in your sleep.

Rush Limbaugh is a useless neo-con mouthpiece. The real issue is the massive vote rigging that is occurring.
Vote fraud, yet another infringement on our rights by the gov't. Add it to the ever-growing list of violations:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great country.

One of Rush's callers has a pamphlet from Obama that his campaign gave out in Ohio encouraging Republicans to vote for him!! So if you want to indict Rush than you better indict the Obama campaign too!! This is the real reason Democrats won't really indict Rush. Because they know they will be indicted too!!

The Limbaugh story is mostly myth. He came out with that story after it was exposed that some republicans had been doing just the opposite of what Limbaugh now claims. Republicans have been voting in large numbers for Barack Obama in the DEMOCRATIC open primaries, and gaming the DEMOCRATIC caucuses from day one.

Limbaugh is using reverse psychology on you. Can you say dope!

The REPUBLICANS have been trying to choose the weakest DEMOCRATIC candidate to run against in November. And also to prevent the possibility of a Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama DREAM TEAM match up.

I am really surprised the media has not picked this fact up with all their experts, and analyst. It’s as plain as the nose on your face. This is why Obama has mostly only been able to win red state caucuses, and primaries. And no big blue states primaries.

If Obama is the democratic nominee for the national election in November he will be slaughtered. Because the Republican vote cheating help will suddenly evaporate.

Hillary Clinton has actually already won the democratic nomination if you remove the republican vote fraud. Does this really surprise anyone after the 2000 and 2004 elections. :-(

They have no respect for the constitution, or the democratic process. They have no SHAME!!!

jacksmith...

If Limbaugh managed to dodge the Oxy-Contin allegations why should we expect him to be held accountable for election meddling ??

A simple federal elections rule would solve this kind of nonsense: "Any registration in force in advance of any primary election must remain valid through the subsequent general election."

This whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. You can become a member of whatever party you want, at any time, for any reason. It's impossible to determine what these voters' intent were anyway.

I switched to the Republican party in order to vote for Ron Paul, but that doesn't mean I "swear allegiance" to anything and everything the Republicans do. Quite the contrary. So i really don't buy into this whole argument that you have to "swear allegiance" to a party in order to vote in its primary.

Besides, at least these are actual people voting. If you're truly concerned about voter fraud, why don't you launch an investigation in New Hampshire, where Dennis Kuchinich and Ron Paul have both reported receiving inaccurate vote counts from ACTUAL PEOPLE by the Diebold voting machines.

Thanks to Dennis Kuchinich, however, all of Cuyahoga county has switched over to using paper ballots, so they were all hand-counted which greatly reduces the risk of fraud.

At least in Ohio, Obama lost because REAL people voted against him. In the case of areas using diebold, however, the election results are likely to be anything but accurate.

But don't just take MY word for it, here's a computer programmer testifying in front of a federal court about he was asked to write a vote-rigging program for Diebold, and how easy it can be done:

anyone who crossed over is now a Democrat

The Columbus Dispatch had an article friday that it is unlikely anyone will be prosuected and that some in the Legislature want to get rid of the law because it is unenforceable. Each county board of elections gave different instructions on what to do when a registered member of one party requested the ballot of the other major party. In my county we were instructed to make anyone who previously voted another party to sign the affadavit they were now affirmed the princples of the new party. In other counties noone was asked to sign the affadavit because the election workers were not instructed to do so. So it would be unfair that if crossovers in Cuyahoga County were proscuted because they signed the affadavit but voters in Butler County could not be prosecuted because they were not asked to sign the affadavit. The Democrats in Ohio should just welcome all the new Democrats and try to keep their allegiance through their behavior. Besides crossover might have crossed over to vote in a local election for example the county commissioner primary was very exciting with 7 canrundidates and the oficial vote ended with a tie among top two--headline was Pancake Wins by Flip! The only real consequence is that a crossover is now registered in the other party until s/he flips again. Heck last year we had a Republican run for Mayor as an Independent becuse he didnt decide to run until it was clear the incumbent Democrat might lose the election to a maverick chllenger. This was despite the fact he had recently run for County Chair of Republican Party! so just welcome them and make them sign the affadavit when they want to switch back.Perhaps only those who have switched more than twice should be prosecuted but even then who really cares.

What is more unfair is that third party candidates in Ohio have to vastly more signatures to get on the ballot--a flat 50 for major party candidates but a percentage of registered voters for independent or other party candidates which can be hundreds for state legislature and thousands for a state office. And then your party cannot be listed on the ballot unless you get 5% vote each Presidential and governor election.

I read back aways in this blog... you can cure ignorance, but stupidity goes on forever...

The problem I see with most "dittoheads" and other adherants to the Limbaugh and Hannity and other Neocon extremists is that they ignore the facts and refuse to acknowledge the truth... and unfortunately the same can be said for some libersls/progressives...

I get amused at the people who scream when someone of the opposite party lies to the American people, or sends troops into harms way to divert attention from their own actions... but when their own candidates or party pundits do it, they condone it...

For instance today, I was having a discussion with my "significant other" and she said in response to my question "is torture wrong?"... her reply: "it depends on who is doing it"....

This is what I see as a big problem... and this whole controversy over idiots like Limbaugh and his promoting voter fraud is not any different... it is morally wrong and aparently legally wrong also, but he will not likely get prosecuted because of who he is... but there are many expamples of people being prosecuted for "conspiracy" crimes for what they have said or written... I can think of one, a Mr. Green who simply mentioned in one of his books that if everyone refused to pay takes in order to get the governments attention, they would bring the IRS and the country to its knees and he waa charged and convicted for "conspiracy to commit tax fraud/evasion"... so it just depends on who you are and who you piss off....

What progressives really need to do is condemn wrong whether it is Limbaugh, Bush, Bill or Hillary or anyone else.

I find it interesting that the Hillary supporters condemn Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Gonzales for lying but they ignore all the Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton lies... (i.e. Bosnia, et.al.)

I can find only one person who seems to have any integrity in this race and that is why he has earned my support... Barack Obama
