DURST: The Democratic Leadership Council

Durst writes, "Clinton went back to his conservative touchstone, the Democratic Leadership Council, and trotted out themes he's floating for his inaugural speech next month. You know, the usual: government indifference, screw the poor; while sucking up to the corporate powers, but not so anyone notices."
Q. What's a new name for the Republican Party?A. The Democratic Leadership Council.Clinton went back to his conservative touchstone, the Democratic Leadership Council, and trotted out themes he's floating for his Inaugural Speech next month. You know, the usual; government indifference, screw the poor, while sucking up to the corporate powers, but not so anyone notices. Kind of like a sneak preview of a train wreck involving a school bus full of handicapped kindergartners and their lame dogs. He's talking about a plan to gut the Winter Heating Subsidy Program that provides fuel oil supplements to the elderly and the poor. Oh yeah, there's a good idea. Let's balance the budget on the backs of the poor. Fortunately, there is enough of them so we can spread out the weight and muffle the sound of their breaking bones. Mustn't disturb anybody's concentration during their squash match you know. You're telling me we can't afford winter heating subsidies to the elderly. What are we: the Gorgar people now? Why not just lease the old to drug companies as test subjects. Or do like we do with agricultural subsidies. We pay farmers not to grow wheat. Why not pay the poor and elderly not to eat. It wouldn't be a long term program. Will Durst is kidding, but he's afraid Bill Clinton isn't.
