Phony Romney Plays the French Card [VIDEO]

By Rachel Maddow, www.layercake.tv. Posted May 10, 2007.

How Romney will convince us to elect him president based on his special ability to protect us from France.

Editor's Note: Apparently Mitt Romney thinks that dissing France is his ticket to the White House. No, this is not bad satire. He really does. Never mind that the man lived in the country for more than two years and speaks fluent French.

Click the video to the right to watch as Air America's Rachel Maddow explains Romney's bizarre campaign strategy with highlights from a 77-slide PowerPoint presentation that someone leaked to the Boston Globe. One of the presentation slides lists Mitt's perceived positive qualities (optimistic, intelligent, conservative), negative qualities (hair too perfect, phony, Mormon) and enemies he could run against (Hollywood values, Hillary Clinton, France).

Interestingly, Mitt also listed Massachusetts, the state he was governor of for four years, as an enemy. Hmmm, is this really a campaign strategy or just an exercise in self-loathing?

French Schmench

As someone who has two lovely and adorable little French nieces (Emma and Julia Degan) I, for one am sick and tired of all this Frog bashing. Remember, we turned on the French because their leadership refused to support this country on the eve of what turned out to be the stupidest foreign policy blunder since Hitler invaded Russia in 1942.

So Romney's gonna protect us from the evil and hideous French people, huh? My gooodness!

... if you can even call him that... is such a slimy, worthless, reprehensible dipshit.

As big and predictable a disappointment as Deval Patrick has been... I'm glad to be rid of this mor(m)on and his little twin Karry Healey.

And don't forget.. he and his idiot wife want to paint themselves as common people.. you know... no $400 haircuts... and they were poor in college.. why, they barely got by on the stock Mitt sold over a long period of time so neither would have to work while at BYU.

Romney

Romney is one of the largest piles of human rubbish, besides almost all of the GOP candidates and current Bush administration functionaries, to grace the earth. France is one of the least threatening nations to the Estats Unis. Obviously, Romney is a greater danger to the French, as he has killed one, than the other way around. I am a Spanish citizen and resident of the U.S., I have always found the strange aversion that Americans tend to have toward the French, and most other Europeans very strange, seeing how most of them are of European heritage. I guess its because most of us don't get down with that weird, olde time religion. Romney, fuck yourself and your Xenophobe brown shirt friends.

Good day.

As George Santayana said, in 1905, in "The Life of Reason," "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
If it were not for French support during our Revolutionary War, we'd all be singing "God Save the Queen" at the start of baseball games. Read the fu**ing history all of you haters of France!!!!

I thought everyone had gotten over all that French bashing. It's been so long ago, I can't remember just WHY we were mad at them. Wasn't it because they wouldn't volunteer for our "Glorious Leader" and his vaunted Coalition of the Willing for the Global War on Extremism ?

Heh. Who looks stupid now ?

Vive la France...

Yet another politician who seems to have forgotten a bit of US history: if not for the help (money and manpower) we received from France during our own War of Independence from England, we might well be British citizens today.

Mitt Romney; Money, Media, Majesty, a French Connection. Democrats?

Dear Rachel Maddow . . .

I knew we were in trouble when the campaign contribution tallies were released. After the Republican debates, it seemed Americans were decidedly convinced. Mitt is our man. "He looks so Presidential." This once frightening religious zealot was labeled appealing. There was a transformation. The media and masses changed their tone and tenor. The talk is now, "We have a winner." A candidate that was once considered barely a possibility is now "Presidential."

Mitt Romney is not the only one America thinks "electable."

I invite you to read and share your thoughts on Mitt Romney; Money, Media, Majesty, a French Connection. Democrats?

Romney's the candidate of Pioneers, Neocon funders, and Corporatists, that's how he got a huge wad of cash and promotion going just when he looked dead in the fetid waters of actual Republican primary opinion polls. The money folks from Bush were lined up behind McCain and when they saw him tanking, they turned to what they thought looked like a Reaganesque figure with enough of a blank slate they could repackage for their purposes.

The grassroots hate him for his impure thoughts and actions on gays, health care 'socialism', abortion, and rational thought, but many Republicans will overlook that just in case he can sell Republicanism one more time with a nod and a wink of nonsense, which he just might.

The French hating ploy is a pile of red meat if there ever was such, yet Romney does seem to have a talent for having truly stupid thoughts. It's truly a weird quote but apparently the idea he was stating actually comes from a Mormon fiction novel. That's his freak flag showing.

One has to be truly concerned about a leader with absolutely no position he wouldn't trade for another, for the right price.

Romney reminds me of the Richie Rich comic strip or Reggie in Archie-- kind of a '50's style arrogant rich kid, with that frat boy quality Bush has who'd really enjoy the chance to kick the crap out of you but in a cowardly bully's way only when you've fallen down defenseless. A sucker punch kind of guy. That's probably the quality the Pioneers love about their boy, and his enthusiasm for selling out as quickly and easily as possible.

Oh, and by the way, did you know the French are all single and hate marriage, leading Europe to Satan? The Mormon angel Moronia told me that. Any religion with an angel called Moronia is, um, well, Romneyesque.

self loathing

Talk about self loathing. Mr Romney must hate his real first name since he prefers to use his middle name Mitt. His first name is Willard. Although there is the unfortunate reference to a movie about a loner who had a strange relationship with rats, willard is a nice name. Willard does not even go by the pretentious W. Mitt Romney, he hates willard so much. I urge all democrats and independents to always refer to Willard "Mitt" Romney as Willard since it is his true first name.

Christo Fascist.

Fascists that use Christianity as a Tool
To further their Goals.
The people
That follow them are Christo Fascists.

Their Goals are un-Christian.
They are:
Aggressive,
Greedy,
Self centered,
Lying,
Stealing,
Blasphemous,
War Mongers.

Unlike the fishes and Loaves.
They take everything unto themselves.
They are Heathens.
They have no:
Soul,
God,
Or
Country.

True Christians
Are
Christ like.

Be like the Master!
Prince of Peace.
