California Professor Is Font of Anti-Semitism

A multiracial Southern California campus would seem to be the last place to find a tried and true anti-Semite and white supremacist lecturing, but it's where Kevin B. MacDonald, "Marx of the anti-Semites" has a teaching post.

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), is a multicultural wonderland, with classrooms filled by Golden Staters whose ancestors came to this lively, diverse beach community from every corner of the world. Double-stocked with both an Office of Equity and Diversity and a Multicultural Center, CSULB openly proclaims its commitment to educating all of California’s students, regardless of income, race, creed or national origin.

Given its diverse student body, it would seem that CSULB would be the last place to find a tried and true anti-Semite and white supremacist lecturing. But that is where Kevin B. MacDonald, a 63-year-old man who developed a deep-seated mistrust for Jewish activists while protesting the Vietnam War, is employed as the psychology professor for those seeking degrees in child development.

From an office inside the bunker-like, six-story Psych building, a tall, thin, bespectacled MacDonald pumps out pages and pages of material on how Jews are genetically driven to destroy Western societies. According to MacDonald, who considers himself an evolutionary psychologist, Jews, who have typically been in the minority in countries around the world, are compelled by an evolutionary strategy that makes them push for liberal policies, like immigration and diversity, with the intent of weakening the power of the majority that rules them.

Ultimately, MacDonald blames the death of millions on "the failure of Jewish assimilation into European societies" and even suggests that "parity" between Jews and gentiles could be reestablished by discriminating against Jews in college admissions and establishing taxes to reduce "the Jewish advantage" in wealth.

MacDonald’s three-volume set of books on Jews and their destructive tactics is devoured by anti-Semites the world over. Not since Hitler’s Mein Kampf have anti-Semites had such a comprehensive reference guide to what’s wrong with "the Jews." His work is widely advertised and touted on white supremacist websites and sold by neo-Nazi outfits like National Vanguard Books, which considers them "the most important books of the last 100 years." For years, MacDonald defended his research as apolitical and scientific, but that defense fell apart after the millennium, when MacDonald embarked on a white supremacist speaking tour. Last December, MacDonald dropped the defense altogether and declared his dislike for Jews.

"I have come to the point of seeing my subjects in a less than flattering light," the professor wrote on his kevinmacdonald.net website.

CSULB is not the first campus to employ an academic racist on its professorial staff. But what makes MacDonald’s case unique is that he was able to reach the heights of his profession, securing a post on the executive council of the professional body for evolutionary psychologists, all the while producing "research" now widely viewed as anti-Semitic. His work on Jewish evolutionary psychology made it into peer-reviewed publications and was taken seriously by many Ph.D.s. At CSULB, MacDonald sailed through his post-tenure review and was awarded sabbaticals and choice committee assignments (he currently serves on the Scholarly and Creative Activities Committee).

MacDonald filled his university website with racist and anti-Semitic materials, using some of them in his classes. Even when his connections to a prominent Holocaust denier were made public in 2000, the reaction from his department and the university’s administration was silence. By last year, MacDonald had been awarded $10,000 by one racist outfit for his anti-Semitic research and was appointed as an adviser to another. Through it all, MacDonald did not suffer one official word of censure until late 2006, when general resolutions from his department opposing the use of academic research by hate groups and applauding diversity were enacted (these resolutions were prompted by inquiries from a writer for the Intelligence Report). Instead, he was given rewards.

MacDonald refused repeated requests from the Report for comment over the course of several months, writing on his personal website that he had "no confidence" that he would be treated in a "non-biased way."

A Bohemian discovers the Jews

A former flower child and anti-Vietnam War activist, MacDonald was born in Oshkosh, Wis., to a middle-class family with a police officer dad. Raised in Joseph McCarthy’s home state in the midst of that senator’s anti-communist witch-hunts, MacDonald attended Catholic schools and played basketball. He enrolled at the University of Wisconsin in the early 1960s, majoring in philosophy. An ardent peacenik in college, MacDonald abandoned Catholicism and joined the anti-war movement. It was during these years that MacDonald would later admit he began to have suspicions about the motives of his Jewish fellow protesters. After school, MacDonald pursued the bohemian lifestyle of a jazz pianist, a career that ultimately failed. Not long after the fall of Saigon in 1975, he returned to the university campus.

MacDonald headed to graduate school at the University of Connecticut, earning a master’s in biology in 1977, at the age of 33. In 1981, he earned a Ph.D. in biobehavioral sciences from the same university. While in Connecticut, MacDonald studied the behavior of wolves, particularly wolf-cub interaction. He then spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow in the University of Illinois’ psychology department, where he received his first serious introduction to the discipline of psychology, which would be his life’s work. While there, MacDonald’s interest shifted from wolves to humans, as he studied parent-child play.

MacDonald was hired as an assistant professor by CSULB in 1985, when he was 41 years old, and has been there ever since. MacDonald’s research in the 1980s and early 1990s was in line with this early training. His first academic publication was "Activity Patterns in a Captive Wolf Pack," and he was still writing about wolves in the late 1980s. MacDonald published dozens of articles and a couple of books on parent-child behavior in the late 1980s and 1990s.

MacDonald's academic career was sailing nicely along, and he was awarded a CSULB Distinguished Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activities Award in 1995. But MacDonald's anti-war experiences haunted him, and he later told New Times LA journalist Tony Ortega that he had come to realize that that was when his fixation on Jews developed. Noticing many of fellow activists were Jewish, MacDonald developed his first inkling that Jews are compelled to challenge traditional American and Western ideals. He came to the conclusion that Jews take over political and cultural movements and front them with unsuspecting, token gentiles -- just the way MacDonald felt he was treated while protesting the Vietnam War.

In the 1980s, MacDonald started reading up on Jews, trying to determine the reasons behind what he saw as their lockstep liberalism and hatred of all things Western. His first effort, the first book in his trilogy on the Jews, was the 1994 publication of A People that Shall Dwell Alone: Judaism as a Group Evolutionary Strategy, which was published by Praeger Press and came out just after MacDonald was awarded his full professorship. Today, most of MacDonald's publishing is about Jews and the evils of the liberal immigration policies they support.


Landing at Long Beach

MacDonald was lucky he landed at Long Beach. The department where MacDonald found a permanent home turned out to be a good place for someone interested in publishing things they might not want others to notice. Long troubled by internecine political battles, in 1994 CSULB's psychology department was criticized by an external reviewer for being "devoid of open discussion of tough issues."

Professors in that department, most of them only willing to speak on background because of fear of retribution from their colleagues, said that the environment hasn't changed much. The department hasn't held faculty meetings in more than a decade, they say, and decisions, including those concerning academic tenure, are made by a small committee of full professors. "There's always a lot of surprise among younger faculty that you don't interact with your colleagues," one assistant professor told theReport. "We are all independent contractors, we have no department meetings, no social gatherings, and we don't even know a lot of the senior faculty, let alone something about their research."

Professor Michael Connor seconded those comments, telling the Report that it made sense someone like MacDonald had prospered in his department. "It's not surprising that this happened here," said Connor, the first black professor hired in the department, in the early 1970s. Connor pointed out that most of his senior colleagues were well aware of MacDonald's views and that MacDonald, in line with his dislike of minority rights, had been very outspoken over the years against ethnic studies programs and diversity efforts. Saying that he would not have taught all these years at CSULB if it weren't for his love of his students and the Black Psychology Students Association he advises, Connor labeled the department "a hostile work environment" where he had "experienced any number of racist incidents."

MacDonald faced no such challenges. In 1994, in fact, he was promoted to full professor.

Professor Sara Smith, who served on the committee that promoted MacDonald to full professor, wrote by E-mail she was "wary but supportive in principle" of his first two works on Jews. Describing MacDonald as a "personable colleague," she wrote that the department had typically been supportive of "new approaches to teaching and scholarship" and that she thought at that point that MacDonald seemed to have "not quite crossed any professional or ethical danger line, though we realized his work was susceptible to some scary interpretations." She also noted that she had heard from students that "Kevin presented a view of race and intelligence that they found troubling," but did little about it. She now regrets her earlier support.

"My views today are very different," she explained.

Teaching the young

The psychology chair, Ken Green, disagreed that his department had any hand in promoting MacDonald's extremism. In an interview, Green defended MacDonald against earlier Intelligence Report articles that reported MacDonald's anti-Semitic views and white supremacist activities, asking if the Report would now issue an update notifying readers that MacDonald had resigned in October as an advisor to the white supremacist National Policy Institute. (MacDonald quit only after learning that the Report was working on this article last year).

When pressed about whether MacDonald's anti-Semitic and racist views had ever leaked into the classroom and affected student grades or learning, Green said, "He keeps his outside stuff outside and he keeps his classroom activity consistent with what it ought to be." Asked how he would know that, given that classroom visits are not allowed in the department, Green said: "The ways of knowing are to check the materials he has on his website, to ask the mediator and anybody else who might be receiving student complaints, including me."

Whether or not administrators know about it, the fact is that MacDonald does use the work of notorious race scientists -- including that of J. Philippe Rushton, a Canadian academic who argues that penis and brain size (and thus intelligence) are inversely related -- as course material. (Rushton argues that blacks, on average, have larger genitalia and smaller brains than whites.)

At least one student agrees with Green's view of MacDonald's teaching. Farnaz Kaighobadi, a psychology student for whom MacDonald has written a letter of recommendation for graduate school, called the Report to insist that MacDonald kept his views on Jews and non-whites out of the classroom. But students posting comments anonymously at rateyourprofessors.com say that they have seen bias in MacDonald's teaching. One student writes that MacDonald "promotes race-based theories of intelligence and will not consider alternate theories." Another comments that MacDonald has views "regarding the ‘genetic superiority' of Whites over Blacks."

In 2000, MacDonald opened up his classroom to Tony Ortega, the New Times LA reporter. The topic of the day was IQ, which MacDonald told the class "is probably the most important human difference that we deal with." Arguing that day that a child's IQ can't be raised and that low IQ inevitably brought with it lower income, more children, and more illegitimacy, MacDonald relied on data from the controversial and heavily criticized book The Bell Curve. He commented to the class, "The dull ones are more fertile – what does this mean for our future?"

A friendly warning

The lack of discussion noted by younger psychology professors at CSULB ensured that only a few of MacDonald's colleagues realized that a racist activist was developing in their midst. Professors who knew of complaints about MacDonald's work, like Sara Smith, did little, and MacDonald continued about his business.

But not all were clueless. As long ago as 1993, after reviewing one of MacDonald's manuscripts, psychology professor Martin Fiebert, who then frequently played tennis with MacDonald, warned his then-friend: "Your manuscript, unintentionally perhaps, reinforces the stereotype that all Jews … are clannish, deceptive, and exploitative." Fiebert wrote to MacDonald that he was "horrified" by his description of Hitler's writings as "entirely straightforward and making excellent sense from an evolutionary perspective." Fiebert gave MacDonald what turned out to be a prophetic warning: "I'm sure you would be dismayed to find that your book has a treasured place in the bookcases of neo-Nazis along with Mein Kampf and The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

It wasn't just CSULB's senior psychology staff that gave MacDonald and his increasingly controversial research a pass. In 1995, MacDonald reached the heights of his profession, winning election to a six-year term as Secretary-Archivist and member of the Executive Council of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society, the main professional association for evolutionary psychologists. He went on to publish several articles explaining his views of why Jews act as they do in a series of professional publications, including Research in Biopolitics, European Sociobiological Society Newsletter and Population and Environment, for which he would also serve as editor from 1999 through 2004.

For Emory University Professor of Jewish Studies Deborah Lipstadt, who MacDonald eventually testified against in a libel case brought by Holocaust denier David Irving, that is scandalous. Lipstadt wrote in her book History on Trial: "I found it hard to fathom that this man had been teaching at an American university for over fifteen years and had published what could arguably be described as anti-Semitic tomes without anyone -- his colleagues in particular -- taking notice… . [N]ot only had his colleagues not taken notice, his fellow evolutionary psychologists elected him secretary of the association of evolutionary psychologists."


Crossing the Rubicon

Fiebert's friendly warning to MacDonald fell on deaf ears. Instead, during the 1990s, MacDonald dedicated himself to his anti-Semitic intellectual odyssey. He produced three volumes on the Jews, A People That Shall Dwell Alone: Judaism as a Group Evolutionary Strategy (1994), Separation and its Discontents: Toward an Evolutionary Theory of Anti-Semitism (1998), and The Culture of Critique: An Evolutionary Analysis of Jewish Involvement in Twentieth-Century Intellectual and Political Movements (1998). The trilogy provides a whole new justification for anti-Semitism that has nothing to do with Nazi race theories, which blamed Jews for introducing evil social vices and other perversions into Nordic society and portrayed them as degenerates praying on unsuspecting, wholesome Aryans. Instead of depending on Hitler, MacDonald has provided today's neo-Nazis with a whole new set of reasons for why Jewish behavior and culture are a threat to whites.

MacDonald's basic premise is that Jews engage in a "group evolutionary strategy" that serves to enhance their ability to out-compete non-Jews for resources. Although normally a tiny minority in their host countries, Jews, like viruses, destabilize their host societies to their benefit. Just last April, MacDonald explained on the anti-immigrant hate site vdare.com how Jews have sapped the power of the American white majority. "Despite the fact that Jews constitute less than 3 percent of the US population, the Holocaust has become a cultural icon as a direct result of Jewish activism and influence in the media, Israel has become a sacred cow in American politics, and the role of Jewish organizations in helping unleash massive multiethnic immigration into the U.S., as well as engineering the current American involvement in Iraq, goes unmentioned in public debate," MacDonald said.

MacDonald argues that this alleged Jewish evolutionary strategy is particularly sinister because, he says, it paints its opponents, meaning whites, as insane if they reject Jewish ideas. "Viewed at its most abstract level, a fundamental [Jewish] agenda is thus to influence the European-derived peoples of the United States to view concern about their own demographic and cultural eclipse as irrational and as an indication of psychopathology," MacDonald has written.

In perhaps MacDonald's most controversial chapter of the trilogy -- "National Socialism as an Anti-Jewish Group Evolutionary Strategy" in Separation and its Discontents -- the psychology professor argues that the Nazi movement developed specifically to counter "Judaism as a group evolutionary strategy." The upshot of his contention is that Jewish "group behavior," because it has produced much financial and intellectual success over the years, also has produced understandable hatred for Jews by gentiles. That means that anti-Semitism, rather than being an irrational hatred for Jews, is actually a logical reaction to Jewish success. In other words, the Nazis, like many other anti-Semites, were only anti-Semitic because they were countering a genuine Jewish threat to their well-being.

And the Jews' machinations don't merely destroy societies; they result in widespread death, according to MacDonald. In The Culture of Critique, he blames Jews for having caused the deaths of millions by supporting such ideologies as Marxism. "In the 20th century many millions of people have been killed in the attempt to establish Marxist societies based on the ideal of complete economic and social leveling, and many more millions of people have been killed as a result of the failure of Jewish assimilation into European societies… . [T]he result has been a widening gulf between the cultural successes of Jews and Gentiles and a disaster for society as a whole." MacDonald ends his book with some rather harsh possible policy outcomes for restoring what he calls "parity" between Jews and other ethnic groups: systematic discrimination against Jews in college admissions and employment and special taxes "to counter the Jewish advantage in the possession of wealth."

Sussing out the race war

In the late 1990s, MacDonald started flirting with white supremacists, adding racism to his anti-Semitic dance card. According to his resumé, MacDonald's first foray into the world of the radical right came in 1996, when he spoke on "Eugenics and Judaism" at a conference to defend The Bell Curve organized by British academic racist Richard Lynn. The Bell Curve, which argued that blacks are genetically inferior in intellect to whites, had been heavily critiqued for relying on Lynn's intelligence data, which are viewed in the scientific community as flawed. Lynn, who directs a private race-science organization called the Ulster Institute for Social Research, specializes in research on IQ and race that has been funded primarily by the Pioneer Fund, on whose board he sits. The fund was originally set up to investigate "race betterment," and today its resources still make possible the "research" of prominent academic racists.

Two years later, in 1998, MacDonald hooked up with another prominent racist when he participated on a panel during the meetings of the Association of Politics and the Life Sciences. The panel was organized by Virginia Abernethy, a self-described "white separatist" and professor emerita at Vanderbilt University who has been active for a decade in the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC). (Abernethy gave a speech to the CCC in 1997 as the editor of Population and Environment, an academic journal. The CCC's website has described blacks as "a retrograde species of humanity," among other things.) The two would later work closely together at Population and Environment, and MacDonald would become editor there in 1999. Five years later, in 2004, Abernethy would be photographed arm-in-arm with a smiling, tuxedoed MacDonald holding a plaque awarded to him for his work on Jews by the white supremacist publication, The Occidental Quarterly. With the plaque came a $10,000 check.

By 2000, MacDonald already was openly endorsing the idea -- popular in neo-Nazi and white supremacist circles -- that Jewish-supported liberal immigration policies could lead to a race war. He had already said much the same in 1998's The Culture of Critique, when he wrote: "I believe that in the United States we are presently heading down a volatile path – a path that leads to ethnic warfare and to the development of collectivist, authoritarian, and racialist enclaves."

Testifying for a 'Pro-Nazi'

MacDonald started the new millennium off with a bang when he agreed to testify as an expert witness for the British Holocaust denier David Irving in a London libel trial. Irving had sued American professor Deborah Lipstadt and her publisher Penguin Books, claiming that she defamed him in her 1993 book, Denying the Holocaust. Irving (who was released from an Austrian prison in late 2006 after serving 13 months for denying many aspects of the Holocaust), accused Lipstadt of damaging his reputation by writing that he had deliberately falsified history. Irving lost the internationally watched trial, with the judge ruling that he had "a distinctly pro-Nazi and anti-Jewish bias."

Irving sought out MacDonald's expert testimony on how Jews work as a group to harm gentiles. Irving had read the part of MacDonald's trilogy that described the alleged suppression of Irving's work as "an example of Jewish tactics for combating anti-Semitism." MacDonald was happy to comply, flying to London in January 2000. During testimony, Irving asked MacDonald if he "perceived the Jewish community as working in a certain way in order to suppress a certain book." MacDonald answered in the affirmative and added that there were "several tactics the Jewish organizations have used." MacDonald later wrote about his decision to testify in an article published in the Journal of Historical Review, a well-known Holocaust denial journal published in California. In the article, MacDonald writes that Jews undertake various strategies against their "enemies." One is to distort history by presenting "Jews and Judaism in a positive light and their enemies in a negative light, often with little regard for historical accuracy."

Media reports about MacDonald's testimony hit CSULB like an earthquake. Professors from many departments realized, often after reading MacDonald's university website descriptions of his work for the first time, that they had a major anti-Semitic activist in their midst -- not merely a quiet colleague with possibly controversial research interests. His comments to the local press solidified this growing reputation. MacDonald told reporter Tony Ortega after the trial that he was "agnostic" on the Holocaust and, when asked if a race war was coming, said: "That's right, exactly. I think that's a real possibility. We're entering a brave new world here, and we really don't know what's going to happen." (MacDonald later disputed the accuracy of the quote, but New Times LA stood by Ortega's story.)

The awakening

Most of the blowback took place on the College of Liberal Arts' listserv, where MacDonald engaged in verbal warfare with a handful of his colleagues. They challenged him on whether he believed the Holocaust had happened. His reply was that he didn't have enough information to make a call about the details of the Holocaust, as the issue was "simply not relevant to any important theoretical issues to me." They also challenged him on his read of Jewish history, an important part of which CSULB History Professor Don Schwarz called "unsupportable."

As his colleagues finally began to read his books, many were downright horrified. Philosophy Professor Warren Weinstein told his colleagues that after reading A People that Shall Dwell Alone he felt MacDonald's work was not science at all, but "something else, masquerading as science." Its closest analogue: "It is in the great tradition of Nazi and Stalinist science which clearly and scientifically proved that their respective insanities were objectively true and defensible."

Once again, Martin Fiebert called MacDonald out, this time writing an open letter to his "close friend" that demanded that MacDonald explain his views on the Holocaust and asked him whether he felt responsible if his work were to be used as a justification for neo-Nazi beliefs. Fiebert also pushed for his department to issue a statement calling on MacDonald to discuss the "implications" of his work -- an effort that failed as many both in the department and outside decided to leave the controversy behind. Sociology professor Barry M. Dank complained, "Even on this list, there is very little interest." One professor went so far as to suggest that grading papers was more important than discussing MacDonald's views.

Not everyone on the listserv believed that MacDonald had done anything wrong. A few argued that MacDonald's views should not be discussed because that would threaten academic freedom. Another, English professor Kent Richmond, defended MacDonald in 2000 and still backs him fully. "You are 6-7 years too late [in investigating MacDonald]," he wrote the Report after a reporter visited CSULB in November. "This issue was discussed in great detail and resolved on campus many years ago, with both Kevin and evolutionary psychologists vindicated."

The campus administration, too, said very little. CSULB officials categorically defended MacDonald's academic freedom to express his views, but added that they "did not necessarily reflect those of the university."


The measure of MacDonald

MacDonald's testimony for Irving led to some soul-searching among evolutionary psychologists who had worked closely with the maverick psychology professor.

Steven Pinker, the Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, wrote that MacDonald's work fails "basic tests of scientific credibility." Another scientist, John Tooby, who, along with his wife Leda Cosmides, gave the field of evolutionary psychology its name in 1992, directly challenged MacDonald's work. Tooby told Salon.com in 2000, "MacDonald's ideas -- not just on Jews -- violate fundamental principles of the field." John Hartung, the associate editor of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology and an associate professor of anesthesiology at the State University of New York, called MacDonald's The Culture of Critique "quite disturbing, seriously misinformed about evolutionary genetics, and suffering from a huge blind spot about the nature of Christianity."

At around the same time, the Human Behavior and Evolution Society (HBES), of which MacDonald was then a board member, began an investigation into his work. A forum, to be held at the group's annual meeting, was organized by Dan Kriegman, founder of the Psychoanalytic Couple and Family Institute of New England and a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis, that featured two other specialists in evolutionary psychology, one of them Pinker. Although the panel was critical of MacDonald's work, James Fetzer, a professor of philosophy at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, at one point defended MacDonald with a call for academic free speech.

But Kriegman, who says MacDonald "believes his own nonsense," produced a 50-page analysis that tore MacDonald's work apart and deemed it "pseudo-scientific theorizing." Referring to the fact that MacDonald became obsessed with Jews in college when he felt they were using or excluding him, Kriegman wrote in an E-mail: "MacDonald is not the first person to avoid the narcissistic injury of having his ideas rejected by concluding that there was a conspiracy against him rather than becoming aware of the substandard nature [as evidenced in his trilogy] of his thinking."

The burgeoning controversy over MacDonald's anti-Semitism had no effect on his most important academic post at that time: serving (until 2004) as editor of the journal Population and Environment. In fact, MacDonald stacked the editorial board with intellectual allies, including the journal's white supremacist former editor Virginia Abernethy and race scientist J. Philippe Rushton. MacDonald was now able to freely push his own and his friends' controversial research in an academic journal that had the important and prestigious distinction of being peer-reviewed.

During MacDonald's editorship, there were several complaints brought about the quality of the journal's scholarship and the fact that the publication seemed to have strayed from its mission, according to Landis MacKellar, who is on staff at the Vienna Institute of Demography and edited the journal after MacDonald. MacKellar said: "Among the complaints were that the journal was publishing an unusually high number of papers written by members of the editorial board and that, contrary to most journals, the more controversial the piece, the less solid the scholarship often appeared to be." Kluwer Publishing commissioned an independent assessment that confirmed these problems. As a result, the publisher dissolved the editorial board and replaced it with new members before relaunching the journal.

Lately, MacDonald's academic publishing has slowed and he has complained that academic venues won't publish his work. Even so, articles by MacDonald are still appearing in a few places, including the Human Ethology Bulletin. And he still has prominent academic supporters, including Bob Burgess, a professor of human development at Penn State who graduated from CSULB and co-edited a 2005 book with MacDonald. Burgess said he had "admired [MacDonald's] work for many years." He called it, "dispassionate, logical, and empirical" and, though it may be "politically incorrect," critical to dealing with the realities of diversity.

Hanging with haters

Six months after the 2000 Irving trial, MacDonald told the Chronicle of Higher Education that he was "done with Jews." That was a lie. MacDonald is producing a lot of new work on Jews that is in high demand in white supremacist circles. After the trial, MacDonald was welcomed with open arms by the Charles Martel Society, a white supremacist organization created in 2001 by Bill Regnery, a publishing magnate who also bankrolls a white supremacist think tank, the National Policy Institute. One of the society's main activities is publishing The Occidental Quarterly, a racist journal devoted to the idea that as whites become a minority "the civilization and free governments that whites have created" will be jeopardized.

The society, whose private website is password-accessible only, holds what are apparently secretive, annual meetings. MacDonald spoke three times to the group, in 2001, 2002 and 2004, on the topics of "What Makes Western Culture Unique?," "Understanding Jewish Activism" and "Empire Building and Jewish Identity." Since its launch in 2000, MacDonald has published several articles in the society's journal, which in 2004 put out a special monograph on MacDonald's work, "Understanding Jewish Influence: A Study in Ethnic Activism." MacDonald also serves on the quarterly's editorial advisory board.

MacDonald is so beloved by Regnery-backed outfits that in 2004 the Quarterly awarded its first prize ever to him during a black-tie event held in Washington, D.C., at the luxurious Sky Room. MacDonald was honored with the "Jack London Literary Prize" and handed a check for $10,000 in recognition of his work on Jews. MacDonald reciprocated by offering to serve on the advisory committee of Regnery's white supremacist think tank, the National Policy Institute, which was launched in 2005. (He quit the institute last fall, after the Report disclosed his position there on a CSULB listserv.) In addition, a chapter by MacDonald was just published in Race and the American Prospect: Essays on the Racial Realities of our Nation and our Time, a volume backed by the National Policy Institute.

Anti-Semites also rave about MacDonald's works. David Duke extols MacDonald and cites his trilogy as central to his thinking about the dangers posed by Jews in his autobiography,My Awakening, where Duke explains how he came to be an anti-Semite. (Duke, an infamous neo-Nazi and former Klan leader, later published a shortened version of his autobiography under the title Jewish Supremacism.) Longtime neo-Nazi Victor Gerhard wrote in a 2003 E-mail exchange that MaDonald's The Culture of Critique "is completely true; that to rail against blacks and Hispanics without mentioning Jews is like complaining about the symptoms and not the disease."

Several white supremacist leaders traveled to Washington to attend The Occidental Quarterly's 2004 celebration for MacDonald, including Duke; Don Black, founder of Stormfront, the oldest and most important American hate site and forum on the Web; Jamie Kelso, a senior moderator at Stormfront; and the head of the neo-Nazi National Vanguard, Kevin Alfred Strom. By 2005, MacDonald was openly hobnobbing with anti-Semites, in particular Kelso. Last March, Kelso said that he was in Los Angeles for a "business meeting" with MacDonald at his university office.

MacDonald is also featured in Stormfront member Brian Jost's anti-immigrant film "The Line in the Sand," where he appears blaming Jews for destroying America by supporting immigration from developing countries. "They have wanted to essentially end European domination of this society," MacDonald told the filmmakers, "and I think they are well on their way to doing that."
Wrong and Right
MacDonald is doing his best to stifle further debate among his colleagues about his anti-Semitic theories and white supremacist activism. After the Report began contacting professors for comment about MacDonald last fall, psychology department faculty members met with the staff of the Office of Equity and Diversity about possible responses to MacDonald's research. In retaliation, MacDonald sent out a threatening notice to his colleagues, which claimed there was an "ongoing and serious attempt to impair my constitutional rights and academic freedom" that could result in "civil liability." Saying he was speaking on the advice of an attorney, MacDonald stated he would "carefully monitor such actions, meetings and/or investigations to vigilantly safeguard my civil and constitutional rights."

MacDonald's threats didn't stop the psychology department from finally taking action. In December, the department passed three resolutions prompted by MacDonald's research. One strongly condemned the knowing misuse of psychological research "by groups that disseminate views of racial/ethnic superiority and/or racial/ethnic hatred" and pointed to the American Psychological Association's ethical principles, which require its members to "take all reasonable steps to prevent the misuse or misrepresentation of their work." The department also passed resolutions defending academic freedom and supporting diversity.

Under pressure after the resolutions were passed, MacDonald put up a disclaimer on his website that said that "nothing on this website should be interpreted to suggest that I condone white racial superiority, genocide, Nazism, or Holocaust denial." MacDonald claimed that he had nothing to do with such groups and asked that no one use his opinions "to support discrimination against Jews or any other group." Regardless, MacDonald is still listed in the latest Occidental Quarterly as a member of that racist publication's editorial advisory board.

The university administration backs MacDonald unequivocally. CSULB spokeswoman Toni Beron refused to make any comments about the nature of MacDonald's research, telling the Report, "The university will support MacDonald's academic freedom and freedom of speech."

Not long after the Report visited CSULB in November, the university shut down any further discussion of MacDonald and his research on the College of Liberal Arts' E-mail list. It was a moment of high irony, given that university officials like Beron and Green had based their defense of MacDonald's work on the lofty notions of academic freedom and free speech.

The cover provided MacDonald and his dubious research under this rubric of "academic freedom" brings into question the sincerity of the diversity commitments made by CSULB -- commitments that helped the campus earn the 2006 University Committed to Diversity designation from Minority Access, Inc. Asked by the Report about the apparent conflict between the ideals of academic freedom and diversity, Craig Smith, who runs the CSULB Center for First Amendment Studies and is on the board of trustees for the entire California State University system, said the school is "hamstrung in reacting" until formal complaints are made against MacDonald by students or faculty members. Smith did say that MacDonald's work and associations with hate groups should "certainly be looked at" by the university.

All of which means that Kevin MacDonald, critic of the Jews, will likely soldier on. Even though he now concedes that he dislikes Jews, he insists that that is irrelevant and should not stop the world from taking his research on them seriously. "In the end, does it really matter if my motivation at this point is less than pristine?" he asks in all apparent sincerity. "Isn't the only question whether I am right?"

Anti-semitism is back with a vengeance. All one really needs as proof is many of the postings on several of the Alternet threads dealing with Israel or any topic that broaches the Jews, middle east, War in Iraq, etc. The Jews have always been the scapegoat. I can't help but suspect that if Kevin McDonald's chief pre-occupation was with African-Americans and not Jews he'd have been long gone.

Anti-semitism is rampant in this society and gets worse every year. Much of it is disguised as "criticism of Israel." Of course, such "criticism" usually accuses the Jews as a group of controlling the entire media, the government, and all the politicians as well as the US political agenda for decades. It further, places the responsibility for the Iraq War and the entire Bush Administration foreign policy squarely on the shoulders of all Jews despite the fact that there are no Jewish neo-cons left in the Bush Administration and that about 75% of the Jewish vote went to John Kerry in the 2004 national election. It is never acknowledged that the Jewish neo-cons in the Bush Administration don't represent the US Jewish community just because they happen to be Jews.

McDonald's work is disturbing because it goes well beyond the aimless, xenophobic, jingoistic, frenetic ravings in Hitler's Mein Kampf. It is first given an air of legitamacy of science. It also panders to the mass fears of the general US public of immigration and xenophobia with regard to terrorism. McDonald exploits the US population's insecurity in a post 9/11 world and puts the Jews front and center blaming them for an increasingly unpopular war and for the seemingly uncontrolable flow of immigrants that is the result of decades of economic globalization.

McDonald has scarcely been criticized by his colleagues. This is what is really frightening.

What part of the above exerpt of MacDonald's work, with the possible exception of currrent US involvement in Iraq, which was engineered by both neo-zionists in the Bush Administration as well as hawks like Cheney and Rumsfeld with strong ties to pro-zionist organizations and individuals, is untrue?

Macdonald may indeed dabble in quack science at times when it comes to race, but the basic thesis that Jews have an evolutionary stategy of survival which necessarily implies a drive to succeed and dominate professions like law, medicine, finance and media can be tested and shown to be valid, at least in the US and nations like Britain, Canada, South Africa and Russia.

Indeed, there are theories by responsible scientists which hold that the success of Ashkenazic Jews is due to marriage between cousins, marriage within a limited population ghetto, and breeding between families that contain large numbers of scholars. Jews for legitimate reasons elevated scholarhship to a very high value and status in E. European culture which still redounds in the descendents of Ashkenazic Jews who live in the US, Israel and other Western nations. This has lead to great financial success which is reflected in IQ levels, job status and professional rewards. A disproportionate number of Nobel Prize winners are Jewish, which is not a reason to deny Nobel Prizes to Jews.

Yet it is valid for an individual like Macdonald to question this social phenomenon, since Jewish success in various professions does mean that non-Jews have less of a chance to succeed. Jewish organizations, like other successful groups in America like Mormons, Armenians and old-line Protestant famililes, themselves promote continued group pride and participation in the most influential professions and institutions. Thus opportunities for networking and favortism towards upwardly mobile young Jews may exceed opportunities for non-Jewish entrants to professional fields.

After all, is there no possibility that the preeminence of members of the same ethnic group in an area of expertise will not result in favorable bias, conscious or unconscious, by members of that group toward new entrants to that area of expertise?

It seems Macdonald is criticized for asking questions about social roles and dominance of one group that in fact plays the roles he descirbes. Would he be criticized if he used WASPs as his study group instead of Jews?

I am a Jew and I am feeling totally left out! Whenever I hear about these amazing Jewish conspiracies to take over the world, it makes me angry. Not because I am offended by the idea, but because I can’t ever find any of them! Please, if there are any Jews reading this who can point me in the right direction, I want in!

I also hear a lot about how we unfairly favor our own kind in business matters - sounds good to me! But how come when I went down to the cell phone store owned by those two Israeli guys, and claimed I should get a ‘tribal discount’ they just threw me out. Since you are an authority on our secret ways, Mr. MacDonald, please tell me what I did wrong. Was I supposed to show I.D.? Is there a secret handshake?

I am beginning to suspect that none of these Jewish conspiracies actually exist. Dammit!

It seems to me that Mr. MacDonald’s 'big discovery' that Jews have used collective strategies to survive and advance their interests, is pretty much a non-statement, no more worthy of discussion than the fact that *every* ethnic group in the US, (and the world) has used various commonalities as a basis for social bonding, and coordinating social, economic and political activity, particularly in times of need. The obvious question is, why does Mr. MacDonald focus so obsessively on the Jews as the source of a global conspiracy, and not for example, the white Anglo Saxon Protestants who not only have a statistically disproportionate influence to their numbers, but have overwhelming control over the real decision-making institutions of power and policy? (So what if there are a lot of Jewish Nobel Prize winners – which one of them has ever decided a nation’s immigration policy – or, is there some Jewish president I am failing to remember?)

Also, arguing for a genetic/evolutionary explanation for Jewish solidarity is incredibly weak, since if anyone hasn’t noticed, we Jews come in every color these days (Admittedly, we have pretty much slept with every group we have had contact with for the last 2000 years – so now our genes are decidedly mixed). [If anyone wants to read a more common sense, non-racialized explanation of how group survival strategies evolve, the ‘Economic Sociology of Immigration’ is quite straightforward. It also clearly explains why if you live in a big city, you can always get good Chinese food at 2 am (because Chinatown are also a great example of group survival strategies).]

Lastly, the two central issues at the core of MacDonald’s Jewish conspiracy theory -- Israel and Immigration -- actually disprove the entire theory. Contrary his belief, Jews are NOT liberal on immigration in the US. Jews are very much split on the issue. Personally, I have become disheartened by how many times I have been emailed fervently anti-immigration literature and urgent on-line petitions from Jewish friends, acquaintances, and family members. Now I am actually one of those pro-immigration Jews, but that’s my point. We Jews can’t exactly be working one some big conspiracy together if we don’t even agree on the issue!

Likewise, contrary to popular belief, Jews are very much split on the issue of the US’s unconditional US support for current Israeli military policy. But that’s such a heated pointed debate for us Jews, that I will save that for another time and place.

Frankly Mr. MacDonald, as a Jew, I find your claims comical. Do you actually know any Jews? And again, I am sorry for you if some Jewish Hippies teased you when you were in high school. If so, that was not nice of them. But you should really try and make some new Jewish friends. It may help you get over it.

Meanwhile, if anyone has any helpful information about how I might join one of these Global Jewish Conspiracies, please let me know. Genetically speaking, I am entitled piece of the action.

Let us not regress further and start pointing fingers at all the racial/religious sects in order to satisfy the victimism that runs rampant these days; we might just figure out that everyone is actually to blame. Oh the hysteria that may follow!

Although, if you truly need something to blame for your woes in life, I'd recommend starting with the linear thinking you seem to be infected with.

First, tenure is a good thing. Even though it lets everyone be as idiotic as they want to be, it is better for it to be out in the open then hidden underground where only other rats see it.

Two, don't forget that "anti-semite" refers not only to Jews, but to all "descendents of Shem" which includes nearly everyone in the middle east, including Arabs -- pretty obviously in Iraq.

Three, being against Israel and its policies, does NOT translate to being anti Jew.

Finally, the anti-jew idiot logic goes like this:
Many Jews are Marxist; Marxism is bad because it argues for redistribution of wealth; therefore all Jews are rich and stingy.

Jews respect and promote education for everyone; (liberal arts) education is bad because men and women will come to understand the dark under-belly of capitalism and protest; therefore capitalism is good and Jews can takeover the whole system.

I feel that someone who careens from being extreme leftist to extreme rightist, like this professor, should not be taken too seriously. The guy obviously has some deep seated emotional issues and probably psychological instability. Usually as time goes on their behavior becomes as erratic as their political views.

So what if the white supremicists clue into this guy, they are just as emotionally self-destructive as he is.

system of government as the US had in the 60's. Instead of denying they should point out their leadership, agitation, etc. The only issue this guy has (and those in the far-right) is that they don't like the fact that the USA has become more racially-tolerant and that there are more opportunities for non-white (ok, not perfect but better than before.) Since Jews were highly visible in the agitation and because of the history of blaming jews they focus on them. After all, in their theories, they can't blame blacks-- since they don't have the intellect, they can't blame the whites--since that is race-traitors and will show that most aren't racist, so they blame the jew---"the jew is using the black" etc.

Of course his motives are LESS than pristine. The guy is an admitted Jew-hater, for God's sake!

As for the correctness of MacDonald’s classroom venom, he's DEAD WRONG as well. But like a backboard for practicing tennis, CSULB students need MacDonald to test their belief systems. Otherwise, after graduation, they may fall prey to bigger and more masterful bigots like Jerry Falwell.

I have a caveat, however. Unlike burgers, only ONE MacDonald per campus!

As a black male in America, I find it utterly remarkable how the American public is so brainwashed as to go to any extent to claim so-called anti-semitism. While so many of you want to attribute grand achievements to those of "Jewish" faith, you blatantly ignore the massive evils commited by these same Jews. Some of the most hideous, repugnant and sick orchestrators of genocidal policies and actions around the world in the 20 and 21st centuries, are or were Jews!

Hitler's Scientists, by John Cornwall (also author of the equally provactive "Hitler's Pope")

There is a worrying trend in American academics these days that has many similarities to the rise of Lysenko in Soviet Russia as well as to the rise of Nazi ideology in German universities in the 30's - except the central theme in American universities is the rise of oligarchic corporate power.

The fact is that the corporate authority is controlled by wealthy billionaires with noted right-wing tendencies (Richard Mellon Scaife, for example, as well as the like of David Horowitz and his 'conservative campus' movements). It is very similar to the role that wealthy industrialists in the US played in the rise of Nazi Germany... and it's also worth noting that the US was one of the centers of the eugenics movement that inspired Hitler&Co.

The professors who are willing to toe the corporate line and to sign restrictive agreements with major corporate powers are the ones who are being moved into positions of authority where they control hiring decisions, etc. The fear of the corporate authority among junior professors is very evident - they know that if they speak out against it they will be shoved off the tenure track and out of the academic sector.

Why doesn't BP set up its own research department - don't they have plenty of cash? They claim to be promoting 'biofuels research' but they will control all the patents, and what's particularly disgusting is the gleeful response of the UC professors and regents who support this deal. No, they aren't all racists - but they have learned to follow the orders of the corporate authority without asking questions, and that's what the German professors did under the Nazis as well.

Forget the content of the Jew-baiting clowns. The rise of anti-semitism is a good indicator of an economy in trouble. When the crash comes, we'll hear plenty about the Wall Street Jews who caused it. (Although we could just as easily blame Indians, Chinese, WASPs, etc. who were also involved, but that would be outside "tradition".)

Labeling and blaming have their uses, but they don't get far because they are stuck in small nets. The word-nets need to be big to catch big fish. Sex is a useful net to catch patriarchy. Money to catch class violence. The godfathers still run the show, ever since they invented the missionary position and the moneymaking scam. Love is the biggest net of all which King Midas will discover to his regret.

And to further, evolutionary psychology of homo sapiens to date can make no definitive claim to link dna with differences between the cultural practices or general intelligence (as defined by standardized testing) of human groups (race, ethnic, national, etc.). this assumption is never clarified or defended, while leaving it unstated misinforms people that it is already established. Adaptive strategies among human groups occur at multiple levels (linguistic, cultural values, taboos, prejudices, etc.) and these differences need not play out on the evolutionary-dna model. The entire field of evolutionary psychology is at stake when people lke Macdonald taint it by assuming that cultural, sociological, and psychological phenomena are necessarily linked with dna. What they fear is that there is no link, and that differences in technological achievements, the arts, and wealth are the result of different cultural values that have evolved, values adapted to meet the needs of the particular environments these groups occupied during specific historical periods.

Furthermore, if there is any dna link it is at the epigenetic level, where environment can subtly "shape" dna without changing it, much like when you bite the outer layer of a pencil - gnaw on it and it doesn't change the graphite core. This too is also an historic argument: the Nazi's bitterly rejected Lamarck, and now Lamarckian ideas have new currency in the brand new science of epigenetics. This is important because if environment can have an impact on this aspect of dna in generational time (as opposed to evolutionary time) and groups can (absence of oppression, internalization of negative stereotypes, and information and education asymmetry) "catch up" intellectually by adopting cultural values that create an environment which fosters this influence "positively" (instead of internalizing negative sterotypes which influence this negatively, or being oppressed which influences this negatively), than their whole rational for intelligence testing is flipped on its head. Instead of intelligence testing to show genetic inferiority, intelligence testing can then be justified to identify which cultures have been oppressed, (and an education-discrimination policy with real teeth could be inacted.)

Imagine a community where differences in intelligence between the races did not exist, it would look absolutely homogenous culturally in those key areas where dna is influenced on the epigenetic level: how we nurture, nourish, and educate our children.

Finally, human dna may have evolved precisely TO interact with the environment, perhaps more than any other species, thereby allowing the presevation of cultural values. Early humans, in a hostile environment, developed cultural practices and values for survival, practices and values that also shape their dna epigenetically, which in turn preserve these practices by creating offspring that are more suited to benefit from them and more suited to recreate them.

I have little time to waste in defense of my statements. Your post does however show your mentality. It is clear. As for myself, I have neither hatred nor prejudice against those of Jewish faith. If that were so, I would never have dated a Jewish woman. I do however have intense distaste and hatred if you wish to utilize the term, for the evil perpetrated by the elite class, the military industrial complex, the multinational corporations, the NGOs like AIPAC and others of their ilk. At the head of the majority of these organizations are those of Jewish faith! Those same wonderful people whom many here wish to laud for their achievements regards of HOW they achieved them!

Clearly this whole article is aimed at defending the behavior of those Jewish EVIL elite who have commited WAR CRIMES and GENOCIDE against hundreds of MILLIONS of people around the world from the founding of Communist Russia with Stalin and his Jewish wives to Vladamir Lenin. Both of those dictators murdered MILLIONS of people!

Predictably, you hear NOTHING of the fact that they were Jews. Moreover the 25 Neo-Con Jews within and without the Bush Administration who have orchestrated this world wide so-called "war on terror," are barely mentioned in connection with their "faith." In my opinion, the best source of support of one's argument lies in the understanding of the science of logic. In taking a logic class a few years ago, I found myself enthralled in its grip. It was wonderful, as well as, informative. I learned through that class how to present my argument and support it. The writer of this article on the professor, does not attack the argument itself but instead attacks the person who is making the agrument!

This is a fallacy in logic! It is called "attack against the person!" If indeed all of you here who are defending the writer along with their belief that the professor's argument is unsound, PROVE it! If you can not do so, your counterarguments pose no validity. He can be a member of the KKK and still have a valid and sound argument! It is not the ideology of the person nor their skin color which you should note, but what they have to say, and if what they state is true or a lie!

Have I been living in a parallel universe? Unless I have been, it's obvious that Jews are not a "race" and not a distinct genetic entity. There are Chinese Jews, Black Jews, Caucasian Jews, and Mexican Indian Jews. Nor are Jews all, or even very, small, dark, dark-haired, dark-eyed, Mediterraneans. There are blond Jews with parchment-white skin and blue eyes, tall and thin ones, small ones; every possible combination of traits to be found anywhere among mankind. So MacDonald's assertion that Jews are some sort of distinct genetic entity is bullshit. A human group whose psychologies were as pre-determined as MacDonald holds those of the Jews to be would be on the verge of being a separate species. Which MacDonald may be trying to insinuate, but which Jews are not. Jews and gentiles breed freely and produce healthy offspring; all humanity is one species.

The idea that Jews are a genetically distinct run of humanity whose psychologies are shaped by their genes and beyond their control, is bullshit from any standpoint within anthropology and genetics.

You claim that the Jews perpetrated genocide in the 20th and 21st centuries. In 1948, there were 1.25 million Palestinian Arabs. Today there are over 9 million half of which live in Israel/Palestine. A strange genocide indeed. No lets look at some REAL genocides in the 20th and 21st century. Rwanda 1994, 800,000. Idi Amin in Uganda, 300,000 to 500,000. Congo Brazaville 1975, 150,000 Hutu killed. Biafran Civil War 1967-1970 over 1 million mostly dead of starvation from the Nigerian blockade. Then there is of course, Darfur nearing half a million dead and nearly three million refugees. Here's a good start. There are many others. It seems no one knows genocide like Africa. Before you throw stones at others make sure you're not standing in a glass house yourself.

In Curacao in the seventeenth century, as well as in the British colonies of Barbados and Jamaica in the eighteenth century, Jewish merchants played a major role in the slave trade. Now, what does the author mean by "dominated"? According to dictionary.com, "dominated" means:

1. to rule over; govern; control.
2. to tower above; overlook; overshadow: A tall pine dominated the landscape.
3. to predominate, permeate, or characterize.

So if whites have to pay reparations it's important that those who dominated the slave trade pay the dominant share.

For what it is worth, as a "Christian" eclectic, I apologize profoundly that there are people like this in the world. It would be so nice to dismiss him as a total nut job. Unfortunately, we are in times of rapid change and social breakdown. Anytime this occurs, there is always the risk that society will rally around and persecute some group of people to provide itself with temporary unity. Sociologist explain the witchhunts in these terms, the name for it is called a deviance scare. We believe norms are what hold society together. When they break down, often times an innocent group of people is demonized and scapegoated. A popular prejudice in times of rapid change is as dangerous as match in dry tinder. So we have to be vigilant against such nuts as above. The dynamics of deviance scares are real, and their power has been used in unspeakable destruction. It is too bad we can't harness it; however, for the real enemy we need to fight - environmental catastrophy. We don't need to turn on each other. We could rally around saving the planet and perhaps save ourselves in the process.

Perhaps the biggest instigator of anti-semitism today is the inability in to speak openly about or publicly criticize Israel, especially when organizations like AIPAC maintain an unassailable position. The hypocrisy of suffering that entails, where Palestinians are treated horrendously and denied their right to exist as a people, further adds fuel to the fire of a sentiment forced underground to percolate and spread its tentacles into the minds of even well-intentioned peoples. Ironically, hardcore Zionists benefit most from this anti-semitism, as they can point to the ill intentions of their detractors. Thus a perfect feedback loop emerges as the middle east and the world in general stumbles towards its doom.

Sadly, I can see that if the Iraq war proves catastrophic in the homeland, elite sections may in fact find it necessary to instigate real bonafide antisemitism to distract from their Imperial failures and to restore America's role in the world. Thus Babylon may find it necessary to sacrifice Israel for this. It's farfetched but could happen, given how under the surface this feeling of betrayal seems to be.

An anti-semite and racist managed to get into leadership positions in prominent professional organizations? Nothing new or "strange" about that. Check out the infamous history of Dr. Ewen Cameron. Dr. Cameron was a diabolical maniac who was paid by the CIA to conduct mind control experiments (as part of the CIA's MKULTRA project) on unsuspecting patients at McGill University. At the very same time, Cameron was President of the American and Canadian psychiatric associations and the second President of the World Psychiatric Association.

The only "strange" thing about this entire episode is the fact that major Jewish 'civil rights' organizations like the ADL have apparently given McDonald a pass-- Yet they chase down people like Louis Farrakhan and Rev. Al Sharpton. What the heck is THAT about? Perhaps the Zionists consider McDonald a handy partner.

Yes there are some nasty Jews out there. Well there's alot of nasty non-Jews out there aswell.

Yes the figures for the Holocaust should be open to debate just as any other historical event is. But give the guys a break here - I think we'd all be a bit touchy if someone started questioning the figures for the Potato Famine, The Slave Trade, or the Great Dying. I think in the future we will be allowed to question those figures, but the wounds are still very raw for many Jews - I mean some lunatic tried to kill ALL of them. I think I'd be a tad upset still if someone had tried that on my beloved Grandparents.

And yes Jews are probably over represented in various industries. Well whose real fault is that? Jews have valued education for a VERY long time, and unfortunately Anglo-Saxon culture has a tendency not to, so it's only natural that Jews have excelled in certain places. And it was the Popes who set the foundation stone for (some) Jewish wealth, with the outlawing of usury for Christians, and the destruction of the Knights Templar (Europes first bankers). The Jews just filled a niche in the environment. They didn't actually have much choice.

And as for this entire liberal immigration stuff - in the 1890's when pogroms in Eastern Europe were at an all time high, British Jews campaigned AGAINST immigration. They were still terrified, even then, of what such an influx would mean for them. Hardly what one would expect of a people hell bent on subverting the host society.

I hate both Don Imus (who I never heard of before the recent flap) and Louis Farrakhan who IS a genuine anti-semite. I never gave any impression that I like MacDonald and want to join him. He is fascist scum like Farrakhan and Tony Martin all of whom make Jew baiting a career. I would never want to be part of any political group but genuinely progressive ones that eschew hate and bigotry.

The trouble is that much of the US African-American community isn't ready to do the same. Unfortunately, most of them are not progressive; they are conservative populists. They love conspiricy mongering and Jew baiting. They embrace what GB Shaw once called, "the socialism of fools." This is to bad and will result in strategies like the Farrakhan one that will hold them back and not address their issues like health care, education, safe communities, good paying jobs, social equality, and non-discrimination. Matin Luther King called for a multi-cultural strategy that included all members of society to create a just order based on social equality. To many people Black and White turned their backs on his ideals. His assassination left America, and particularly Black America in political disarray. This is why many rightly believe the assassination was an act of state. I would not be suprised if Farrakhan got CIA money to run his organization. King was more feared because he had a decent and plausible message and supported democracy. He could have truely gained mass support for change in the US that no one else could garner. He could even have become president. This is why the authories feared him. It was because he realized that the core issues in America didn't boil down to race but to class.

The Jews span all social classes. Capitalism is not their system. It belongs to the upper 1% of the society most of whom are not Jews. Corporate America is not Jewish. It is mostly white and male. Their agenda will run over everyone. This is exactly what the fascists don't want you to see.

Let me just say that I can't see how the religion and the people could have survived 3,000 years, despite the best efforts of others, from trying to kill Judaism with kindness and conversion to killing Jews on a massive scale (the Holocaust and earlier pogroms) if I didn't raise some important issues of human adaptation.

Sounds like he believes in the holocaust to me. Most of the article is uncited accusations and MacDonald is pretty much never quoted, only other people's comments about him. Why is that?

I would like to take the opportunity to make some further comments and observations. The generally low level of intelligence displayed on this particular thread and the very alarming and frightening adherence to and defense of bigotry is, in my view, an unfortunate sign of our times. Traditional ultraconservatives have always been bigoted. They have always generalized about people they don't understand. They have always hated diversity and seen it as a threat. They have always seen hate as natural, not indoctrinated, and have always despised and fought attempts to counter it.

The hatred found on this thread is the direct result of several years of ultraconservative rule. Such rule is replete with religious fanaticism and intolerance, attacks on the US Constitution, a document which undeniably affirms the basic equality and inalienable rights of all people, and war mongering and the racist vilification of whole peoples. This is the legacy of years of ultraconservative misrule and degradation of US civil society through economic mismanagement and illegal and devastating war making.

Let us hope that a new age will dawn that will take back US society for democracy and for true civilization. The will, the ideas, the energy and the organizational capacity exists to turn things around for America and the world. We need a new political movement that mobilizes the jobless, working poor, the disenfranchised, and the fast fading middle classes. Our choice is between genuine democracy and equality or barbarism. Let's do the right thing!!

Perhaps you are unaware of the fact that Israel receives annual aid amounting to less than 3% of its total GDP. Israel contributes to high tech industries globally in the fields of medical equipement, computer software, and biotech. The TASE is capitalized at close to $200 billion. The Israeli companies on the NASDEQ are capitalized at $150 billion but there only 90 of them vs. 669 on the TASE. Israel is only about 9 million people including the 3 million in the occupied territories. Does this sound like a weak bunch to you?

I don't agree. I have no problem whatsoever wealth Jews or anyone else gaining wealth. My problem is that they use that wealth to corrupt gentile politicans and that is the basis for the other major problems we're discussed here i.e. opening our border to the third world, our country being used to fight wars for Israel, their control of the production of culture. Admissions policies at Harvard fit the Jewish agenda perfectly: coincidence or plan?

IF YOU VISIT the Admissions page at Harvard University's Web site, you'll see the university's claim that some 65% of their undergraduate population of 6,658 is "Caucasian." Then, zipping on over to the Jewish campus organization Hillel's site, you'll find that 2,000 of those "Caucasians" are Jews. A little quick work with the calculator shows that, therefore, 46 per cent. of the "Caucasian" students are therefore Jews, making this tiny minority of the American population by far the most overrepresented group at Harvard -- and Whites by far the most underrepresented.

Caveats: some of the categories don't track exactly. For example, it's not clear whether Harvard puts Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in the Native American category or the Asian American category, or whether they put Sammy Sosa-like black Hispanics into the "Hispanic American" or "African American" groups. It's also unclear to me how one can reconcile Harvard's figures of 7.1% Foreign, 8.4% International students with such a large number of prefixed-Americans. It may be that their diversity percentages are only applicable to Americans...or they may be counting foreign Chinese nationals as "Asian American" for the purposes of diversity stats. Don't laugh - it is already accepted practice to count illegal Mexican nationals as Hispanic Americans, after all.

But overall, I don't think these affect the force of the conclusion: white gentiles are the most underrepresented group relative to their population at Harvard, and ...Jews are the most overrepresented group, followed by Asian Americans.

We agree. The cold numbers don't lie. And 'cold' is a good word for it -- White people are being frozen out and given the cold shoulder at Harvard, which was founded by and for our people and, until very recent decades, maintained that it was primarily for the education of our people -- what the founding fathers called "our sacred posterity."

Take out your calculator again and divide the Jewish representation -- almost 17 times their percentage of the US population -- by the White representation (0.53 or about half of our percentage of the population):

A Jew is approximately 31 times as likely to be admitted to Harvard as a White person.

A Jew is almost 4 times as likely to be admitted to Harvard as an Asian.

A Jew is almost 25 times as likely to be admitted to Harvard as a Black.

A Jew is more than 29 times as likely to be admitted to Harvard as a Mestizo.

A Jew is almost 19 times as likely to be admitted to Harvard as an Amerind.

It would be interesting to see the Jewish "Caucasian" statistics broken out of other university admissions and employment figures. I suspect that for highly-desirable positions we would find a similar pattern.

In a recent Newsletter of news and political research put out by Jim Hightower called the Hightower Lowdown (April 2007) Large Corporations contributed $880 million to political campaigns in 2006. So much for campaign finance reform!! In 2005, an issue of The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, an anti-Israel monthly if ever there was one, totalled all the AIPAC contributions to political campaigns for 2004 as $1.5 million most of them going to congressional races.

So who is really corrupting the political system, buying politicians, controlling capital hill, and using money to push their agenda? The big corporations that really control things but that you fascists never criticize.

Beer commercial ‘leaves sour taste’

A BEER commercial that claims the product is brewed according to “the German Purity Law” is “insensitive”, according to the head of the Jewish community’s antisemitism watchdog.

B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) chairman Michael Lipshutz told the AJN that the Beck’s beer commercial should specify a “German beer purity law” to distinguish it from Nazi Germany’s racial “purity” laws.

The audio track for the commercial, which has aired on Foxtel’s Comedy Channel, mentions “the German Purity Law” and also emblazons the words across the screen.
James Tait, corporate affairs manager for Beck’s importer Lion Nathan Australia, said the advertisement “has been running in Australia and other parts of the world for several years”.

“The German Purity Law is a brewing law that ensures only natural ingredients are used. It has been around since 1516 and the ad is clear that it [the purity law] relates to the product.”

Foxtel corporate affairs manager Rebecca Melkman said the pay-TV provider, after reviewing the commercial, “believes it complies with the code. In our view, the commercial clearly refers to the German Purity Law as a method of brewing beer – it is a well-known beer brewing method that is described in detail in the commercial.”

She said she was unaware of any previous complaints regarding the commercial.

Lipshutz said the airing of the commercial in the general media could cause offence to some people, particularly those who were affected by the Holocaust. “I think it is insensitive. It leaves a sour taste.”

In a letter to the AJN this week, London resident Todd Tobias, who saw the ad on the Comedy Channel during a recent visit to Melbourne, said that while he wasn’t offended as a Jew, he was “surprised at the unfortunate, evocative, and in some ways darkly humorous misuse of words”.

Lipshutz said the ADC would investigate the commercial.

JEWS PRESSURE BUSH TO SIGN HATE BILL

Last week it seemed the federal anti-hate bill S. 1105 was slated by Democratic leaders to move through the Senate very rapidly, even to a vote by Friday. Now the opposite may be true; pro-hate bill supporters may actually want to delay its consideration in the Senate in order to have time to generate massive pressure upon Pres. Bush to approve a "modified" hate bill or renege altogether on his veto threat.

At the forefront of efforts to back Bush down are Jewish activist groups nationwide. Forward.com today says, "Jewish groups are gearing up to fight the president’s expected veto of a hate crimes bill opposed by Christian conservatives… Jewish organizations are playing a leading role in the coalition pushing the bill, with almost all of them - except the Orthodox ones - taking action to promote the passage of the measure… Michael Lieberman, Washington counsel for the Anti-Defamation League and chair of the coalition of 290 organizations supporting the hate crimes bill (says), 'We believe that after the president sees the support this bill has in the law enforcement community and with other groups, he will listen and sign the bill…'"

The Forward article continues: "'People in the Jewish community have a strong memory and good understanding of the impact hate crimes have,' said Hadar Susskind, Washington director of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. The JCPA mobilized tens of local Jewish groups to contact their congressmen on the issue…. In an effort to pressure the president not to use his veto pen to block this legislation, Jewish groups are organizing letters and meetings that aim to stress the importance that the Jewish community sees in passing the bill. Other groups will take similar action: mainstream Christian and other religious organizations, law enforcement agencies and women’s rights advocacy groups… If this mobilization does not manage to convince the White House, supporters of the bill intend to attach the measure to a “must pass” piece of legislation, making it difficult for the president to exercise his veto."

Why is the Jewish community not afraid that Jews might be victimized by the federal hate bill? Simple: since the Jewish ADL sets up hate crimes bureaucracies and controls them once they are established, Jews are virtually never indicted. Although Jewish Talmudic literature defames Christ and Christianity and many Jewish leaders fulfill every criteria of "hate speech," blaming Christianity for anti-Semitism and the Holocaust, Jews in countries with hate laws have little to fear from expressing public "hatred or contempt" of Christianity. On the contrary, since 1971 when ADL created Canada's hate crimes gestapo, outspoken members of the political right and, more recently, Christians, live in dread of Jewish "professional complainers," intent on catching them in a word and hauling them into the hate crimes tribunal courts.

New Tactics

Clearly, pro-hate bill strategy is shifting dramatically. When I called the offices of Sen. Gordon Smith and Sen. Edward Kennedy this morning, gone was any hint of rapid movement toward passage. Instead, they say it may be next week before the Senate considers the bill. In fact, the Forward article says the Senate Judiciary may still hold hearings on S. 1105.

What should be the response of all who love freedom? First, we must call, email, fax, or write our Senators demanding they vote against the hate bill. The answer to your ignorant question is no. In the first place, despite what your Nazi handlers might brainwash you to think, there is no such thing as host/guest populations in a modern democracy where all citizens are equal and have equal rights.

Jews force NO ONE to compete. They don't care about how far up or down the proverbial ladder they go, they just try their best and see where they wind up. Often the results are good. They do contribute disproportionately to every society they've been in and are sorely missed when they are gone. My advice is not to let this happen. Judaizing cultures is an absurd idea. The US culture is not Judaized. It is cosmopolitan in some ways but that is not the same as Judaized.

You mention farmers and peasants. Jews were forbidden from land ownership in the middle ages by the church and jews have not been rural or agricultural until they settled in Palestine in the early 20th century ( the first Jewish immigration wave to Palestine was urban) and restricted to usury. This may be part of the problem. People turnout the way their treatment predisposes them to be but I do believe the Jews have transcended this in recent times.

All of you are pathetic. I sometimes wonder if you are being paid to waste time doing this on progressive websites. You and the other reactionaries of various stripes have certainly succeeded in clearing this entire blog of progressive forces. I must be the only one left. If this is the case the reactionaries and their rich handlers have succeeded in so alienating the Left that they are all gone and you've all taken over. Congratulations.

Let me first begin with a criticism of your approach. There are Jews. There is no such thing as "The Jews." The latter suggests that Jews are a monolithic mass instead of the individuals which they actually are. The people who act as members of certain Jewish organizations represent only the organizations. There are many Jews who don't even know of these organizations. Are you going to hold them responsible for the words and deeds of said organizations. It's pretty ignorant to do that considering they aren't involved. In the second place, many people who are not Jewish support the work of Jewish organizations. This must mean that many such organizations have an impact and significance well beyond the Jewish community which is positive and well supported. Then there are organization like SPLC, the ACLU, and the National Lawyers Guild (founded by an Irishman named Paul O'Dwyer) all of these have majority non-Jewish members, participation and work for non-Jewish causes. They are popular causes. Most people who support them aren't Jews.

The list of expulsions provided by Tim68 is apalling. One reason is that most people would immediately recognize how badly it reflects on the non-Jews who persecuted the Jews. Tim68 on the other hand chooses to see it as a bad reflection on the Jews many of whom were innocent children. Tim68 is a low life and an ignoramus like most fascists. His mentality is one important reason no one will ever support the NA or any other fascist organization.

The key is that most people are more in sync with the Jewish community and individual Jews than they are with fascists. The reason is that people like Tim68, Charopos, and Svigor have low intelligence.

Watch Professor MacDonald's career in the near future. I don't expect him to hold his post in the UCAL system for very long.

so I'll just begin anew down here. Svigor, by the tone and content of your posts I'm going to assume you're a poorly educated southern cracker. I've looked up much about the current white supremisict movement in America and it seems that it is no accident that most all of it eminates from the South. Virginia Abernathy and the CCC, the Charles Martel Society, the National Policy Institute, and other organizations all seem to come from the deep and mid-South. This is appropriate since the American South is not only traditionally racist but a rigid, class based patrimonial society which has always abhored social equality of any kind and has never really accepted democracy in any modern sense of the word. It is never suprising to find the current fascist trends fleshing themselves out in such an environment.

The current ultra-rightist atmosphere of undeclared and unprovoked military aggression against defenseless countries, secret torture, unconstitutional executive usurpation of power, warrentless wiretaps, elimination of transparency and oversight in government, a radical redistribution of income and wealth to the upper one percent, the defeat of people's hard earned civil liberties and rights to everything from union organizing to reproductive choice, and the rise of clerico-fascism and theocracy have all created an atmosphere whereby fascists like yourself feel emboldened to come out of the woodwork and attack Jews, Latinos, Blacks, gays, trade unions, feminists, and other groups in order to push your hate agenda which so epitomises your political culture. I can assure you that most "whites" as you call them identify as lovers of democracy and not race-mongering. Hopefully in another year or so when the pendelum swings back toward progressvie politics and the real Americans take the country back for its original ideals you fascists will be shut back up in your pigstys where you belong. You wish to exploit the fear and resentment of the disenfranchised masses to build a fascist movement. I don't believe it will work.

One reason you hate immigration is not because of jobs or the supposed strain on resources but politics. More non-white make it harder to push a fascist agenda. You may outwardly detest Bush but secretly you know he helps your cause. Fascism got scant attention 40 years ago when the top 20% of the population controlled only 38% of the income. Now that the top 1% controls more than 20% of the income and the bottom 80% haven't seen a real increase in income at all for thirty years you know you have fertile ground on which to sow hate and fear. It is the challenge of the left to organize and defeat the circumstances that breed fascism once and for all. One imperative is to win the South.

the continual Saudi lobbying since the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait for the US to eliminate Saddam Hussein from power. Israel was divided on the issue with some like the defense minister wanting an attack on Iran. The Saudis and Kuwaitis demanded of the US Saddam's elimination from power. Together these two countries control a plurality of the world's oil production. It was their influence if it was anyone's at all.

This was is all about oil, NOT Israeli security which was not necessarily served by the war in Iraq.

the persecution of "white" people. The very term "Affirmative Action" was contained in the wording of Executive Order #10925 which was signed by JFK and stated, "projects financed with federal funds must take affirmative action to ensure that hiring and employment practices are free of racial bias." This was signed on March 6, 1961 and was in line with civil rights laws and court decisions up to that point. It was also eminently reasonable.

On September 24, 1965 LBJ signed Executive Order #11246 which required that government contractors take "affirmative action" toward prospective minority employees in all aspects of hiring and employment. It was further required that these efforts be documented. In 1969, Nixon required federal contractors to show "affirmative action" to meet the goals of increasing minority employment. Quotas were not mandated.

Beginning with the Bakke decision in 1978, a number of court cases since then have struck down affirmative action in hiring, layoffs, promotions, university admissions and other education, employment and business contractual preferential treatment on the basis of race. Clinton's 1996 guidelines for affirmative action basically abolishes it in principle.

Proposition 209 in California in 1997 and similar bans over the next few years in Washington State and Florida ended affirmative action. In 2003, the US Supreme Court upheld affirmative action in University admissions. The goal was to promote diversity and equal opportunity in education.

The Office of Federal Contractor Compliance Programs is the main enforcer of affirmative action. One need only worry about it if you are a prime contractor with the federal government. In 1995, the US Federal Government doled out about $180 billion in prime contracts affecting roughly a fifth of the workforce at any given time. Women were covered under the affirmative action laws as were other groups including war veterans. Since 2001, the impact of affirmative action has lessened with the flurry of hostile state referendums and court cases overturning the executive orders established in the 1960s. In Michigan, nearly three fifths of the electorate voted to strike down affirmative action in that state in the November 2006 referendum.

According to a 1995 government study, done at the outset of a flurry of state legislative efforts and court rulings designed to roll back affirmative action, white males made up only 29% of the national workforce but held 95% of senior management positions. Affirmative action has been a bogy and a red herring of the far right and race baiters for a long time.

Now the fascists and white supremicists are telling poor, uneducated white people that the US government doesn't serve their interests because just they are white and that whites need their own state (the existing two dozen or so, many of which are the richest places in the world, are deemed not sufficient) despite a plethora of evidence to the contrary. White men increasingly accrue more and more of the world's wealth and the fascist and race baiting Svigor declares this inadequate. The poor whites are exploited by their own white, non-Jewish overlords because they are poor, not because they are white. When you inbeciles realize that class and the stratification of society along class lines, not racial ones, is the key to understanding the world today, you'll see how rediculous you appear in advocating yet another sovereign white state to add to the existing two dozen. The next one will be no less unequal and no less generous to poor whites. It will consist of fascist oppression and use ethnic cleansing to clear the way for more white workers to serve the greedy white elite that would rule that place too.

There is absolutely NO evidence for any of the lies which are spewing with the exception of the usual neo-Nazi and other hate sites that print anti-Jewish lies. The Jews of Zimbabwe never numbered more than 7,500 of the 150,000 European population in an African population of over 11.5 million. Most Jews had nothing to do with diamonds or export agriculture. They plied their usual professions in the big cities like teachers, lawyers, doctors, small business, etc. In so doing they brought much to the society. Your lies are bogus as usual. Charopos you are scum.

I have just looked into this individual and was thoroughly unimpressed. He is a racist to the core. He is so offensive that even stalwart reactionaries like the editorial staff of the National Review have shunned him. I do not belief this to be a NR sop to its neo-con fans and writers. Sailor really is that wretched and hateful.

His remarks on Hurricaine Katrina were appalling. If he had two braincells to rub together and even bothered to take a thoughtful, objective look at the situation he would have seen that the real profile of the Hurricaine Katrina survivor is an educated, hard working, middle class homeowner and not a criminal. Sure there were a few criminals in the whole affair but why taint the majority for the actions of a few. I have met several Hurricaine Katrina survivors and they all seem like decent people. The Black folks in the ninth ward of New Orleans got a raw deal. They were victims of racism both before and after the big storm.
