GOP "frontrunner," Giuliani abandoned by family...

Spin Dentist: Kids pissed over his marriage sanctity issues

I noted one month ago on ASZ that Rudy Giuliani's kids were not featured on his campaign web site at all, while Rudy's current wife, Judith Nathan, is featured in a couple paragraphs and a couple pictures on his web site bio page. Indeed, the bio looks a bit like a PR feature for Judith Nathan. Ah, but that's young love that causes such puffery at the expense of the kids, right? No.

The New York Times reports that Giuliani is estranged from both the children he had by second wife Donna Hanover. Seems they havent talked in over a year, until recently, and the AP reports that Rudy Giuliani is whining about the press not giving him room to reconcile with the kids. Rudy claims the problems inherent in "blended families," but it seems from this angle that Daddy ditching his wives and marrying new ones is something that is straining the values of his children.

Campaigning in Southern California, Giuliani faced questions about his family after his son, Andrew, publicly said their relationship had become distant after Giuliani's messy divorce from Andrew's mother, Donna Hanover, and his later marriage to Judith Nathan.
"My wife Judith is a very loving and caring … mother and stepmother. She has done everything she can. The responsibility is mine," the former New York mayor told reporters gathered outside the Los Angeles County Sheriff's headquarters.
"I believe that these problems with blended families, you know, are challenges _ sometimes they are," he said. "The more privacy I can have for my family, the better we are going to be able to deal with all these difficulties."
He told the newspaper he would not participate in his father's campaign, saying he intended to concentrate on becoming a professional golfer. The 21-year-old Duke University student told ABC News' "Good Morning America," "I got my values from my mother. She's a strong influence in my life. She's a strong woman. I have problems with my father, but that doesn't mean he won't make a good president."
These aren't dumb children of a dumb politician, something we're used to. And it seems they are very pissed at Daddy. (Note how Andrew Giuliani won't even utter Nathan's name -- she's "his wife.") Daddy Rudy is afraid to show his ids to America because he's afraid of what they will say about him, and that can't be good for Rudy's campaign.

As to Rudy's comments, there are many blended families in America that solve these problems. Rudy is not solving them. The media is not at fault for him not solving his problems. He should actually work on being a father. Maybe that means he needs to give up being a Presidential candidate and stepping stool to his wife's career. (How else would she get on the cover of the New York Post if not in a passionate kiss with Rudy?)
