UPDATED: Scooter Libby Guilty/Howard Dean on Cheney's focus: It "makes me sick" [VIDEO]
According the AP:
Former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby was convicted today of obstruction, perjury and lying to the FBI an investigation into the leak of a CIA operative's identity. Here's the breakdown:
Count 1 (Obstruction): GUILTY
Count 2 (Perjury): GUILTY
Count 3 (False Statement): NOT GUILTY
Count 4 (Perjury): GUILTY
Count 5 (Perjury): GUILTY
Libby faces a total of up to 25 years in prison. Naturally, Libby's lawyers will appeal.
In the first video, Howard Dean connects the dots between Libby, Cheney, the Bush Administration, the Iraq War, Walter Reed, intelligence deception, politicking rather than caring about the American people, etc etc...
"Suppose the Vice President had focused on what was going on at Walter Reed [instead of getting Plame and Wilson]?
He also mentions the possibility that Libby will be pardoned in exchange for zipping his lips. Still, despite the outcry that Libby was the victim of a vast leftwing conspiracy from the usual suspects, Libby was a victim of sorts. A "fall guy" at least. From Rory O'Connor's piece on today's front page:
"It was said a number of times, what are we doing with this guy here?" Denis Collins recalled his fellow jurors asking, as he spoke to the press immediately following the pronouncement that Scooter Libby was guilty on four of five felony counts. "Where's Rove? Where are these other guys?
"I'm not saying we didn't think Mr. Libby was guilty of the things we found him guilty of," Collins added. "It seemed like he was, as Mr. Wells put it, he was the fall guy."Read more HERE.
The second video has Wolf Blitzer explaining why Libby's lying to the FBI and impeding Fitzgerald's investigation IS a crime, despite what Libby's defenders claim...
Marcy Wheeler, who writes that Libby had "ABSOLUTELY no reaction," does the trial wrap-up in the third video. Read her book on the scandal, Anatomy of Deceit, HERE.
A Joe Wilson response is HERE.
