Here's an under-the-radar news item likely to light a fire under my friend Cliff Schecter and the folks at The Real McCain. John Hagee reports that he had an "extended breakfast" with John McCain, during which they discussed Israel policy and McCain's presidential candidacy. Hagee happily reports that McCain is "solidly pro-Israel."

What else did the duo discuss? In an e-mail, Hagee tells his supporters and the leadership of Christians United for Israel: "We discussed [McCain's] positions on other matters that I will share with you when I speak with you in person. This newsflash goes to the ends of the earth and I don't want to read it in the media tomorrow."

Sarah Posner is an investigative journalist whose work has appeared on Alternet, The American Prospect, The Gadflyer, and in other publications.
