The Quiverfull movement

ABC News does its best to cover the American Christian "Quiverfull" movement in the videos to the right (a total of about 10 minutes).

There are some real issues with the underlying premises of the movement, namely that a woman's body is not her own, a return to male-dominated households, etc.

The family depicted comes across as quite nice and friendly, with the possible exception of the mother, who appears shriveled or cowed in some way.

Too bad this report wasn't hosted by a woman, and more specifically by a woman armed with a bit more knowledge of the movement, it's implications and even the most cursory understanding of feminist history.

That would've been really cool and cut down questions like the one asked to the mother (paraphrasing): Isn't it hard on your body having so many kids?

For a much more interesting critique of Quiverfull, read Kathryn Joyce's piece HERE.
