I am not sure who it is that The Decider is waiting for, be it Godot or a shaman. What is becoming increasingly clear, however, is that the US is in a holding pattern with regard to Iraq, stuck on stall while our soldiers and more Iraqis die. Yes, this administration is waiting for something, but what? I don’t think we will ever really know, but more and more people will die while this President stalls in his holiday-adorned mansion, having never seen combat and having suffered no personal loss in this war. Disregard for the urgency of time comes easily to those who are gambling with other peoples’ lives and other peoples’ money.

The plan to plan a plan:

The President claims he is listening to different voices of opinion, but anyone who has watched this arrogant, self-serving administration should know by now that the only voices Bush listens to are the ones that come with cash.

I don’t buy for a moment that this President is weighing all options and listening to all of the experts. Nearly four full years into this inferno we call Iraq, there has yet to be a well reasoned, thoughtful assessment of the situation or an adjustment to address conditions on the ground.

What thoughtful planning was done prior to the invasion of Iraq? That is to say, outside of painstakingly fabricating evidence to mislead a grieving nation into war -- what actual planning took place to secure Iraq after the invasion? What planning did this administration do to make sure our military had the resources it needed? Even now, our soldiers lack the necessary armor and equipment, and yet we are to believe this President is remotely serious about developing a winning plan?

What attention was paid to the aftermath of the invasion and securing the peace of a nation with three fully autonomous factions jockeying for power, ready to kill one another over control of the country? Who had the brilliant idea to dismiss the Iraqi army, still in possession of their weapons, so that military contractors could then "secure" Iraq? What prompted the idea to take jobs away from Iraqis so that Halliburton’s no bid contracts had a place to play out?

What genius decided that creating a palace-like US military base in Iraq took precedence over ensuring that the Iraqis had water and electricity? If this is planning of any sort, it is a plan for deliberate and catastrophic failure. And at each stage there was a milestone that would mark some sort of mission accomplished and victory delivered, only to allow for more stalling and more misery.

Even after the Iraq Study Group delivered its bipartisan edict of "blame it on Rumsfeld and save face," the President decided he would mull things over through the holidays, having first agreed to follow the group’s recommendations when he thought they would be different, somehow.

What is obvious now is that the removal of Rumsfeld was not a sign of a real commitment to change direction in Iraq. It was nothing more than yet another stalling tactic, which is why the news was delivered after the election, not before. The nomination of Robert Gates to Secretary of Defense appears also to be nothing but stagecraft to silence the angry public, because Gates, no matter his view, is still bound by the chain of command. If the leadership says "stall," then Gates can only stall or resign.

What are they waiting for?

The President’s latest tactic now being floated is to deploy 30,000 troops to Iraq, which will no doubt serve to add more dead bodies to the death toll but little else.

How many dead bodies will it take before Congress says that stalling for Godot is not feasible (always knowing of course, that it has never been ethical)? Or perhaps a better question to ask is to whom is this administration beholden and for whom has this entire travesty of foreign policy been devised? I believe that the intended winner was always meant to be the Saudi regime, not the US, nor the Iraqi people. Ironically, the true victor has turned out to be Iran, something that no doubt disturbs the house of Saud greatly.

If the Saudis are in fact the country for whom we are fighting a proxy war with Iraq, then it stands to reason we cannot leave until we neutralize the Iranian threat to our benefactors. Perhaps this is really why this administration is stalling. It has failed several times over to successfully launch a military attack on Iran. The WMD argument does not seem to be working as well this time around in frightening the US populace into yet another war. The anti-Israeli rhetoric and Holocaust denial, too, don’t seem to be budging the US masses into supporting an attack on Iran. So the Bush administration awaits the delivery trick that might work to quiet the House of Saud and keep them from delivering on their blackmail of a full US economic meltdown.

I know that there are some that believe Israel is guiding the US misadventure into hell, but Israel is a client state who does what it is told. I have never found a convincing argument that would explain how Israel, whose very survival turns on US backing, would have the power to lead America into total suicide. It is true that the most visible faces of a pro-war policy towards the Middle East are tied to Likud, but Israel too needs to protect the House of Saud, because it is America’s benefactor. It serves US interests well to play the Jews against the Muslims. Such machinations have been going on for centuries. But anyone who can see farther than the day to day perspective should be able to see that a fully destabilized Middle East does not benefit Israel, nor does a rise in terrorism benefit Israel. It is already in a precarious position and not much is needed for Israel’s full and total collapse when the Middle East fully descends into chaos. The only winner that could have been intended as a result of this mess in Iraq is the House of Saud. Unfortunately, with Iraq failed in such a way as to embolden Iran, the House of Saud will not let the US leave the power structure in such a condition.

While this is mainly my own belief, of course, if we assume that the Saudi regime is calling the shots, then it becomes clear that the US will not be able to leave Iraq until it attacks Iran. Not if the Saudi clan has anything to say about it. Perhaps this is why our beloved Vice President recently ran to the feet of the Crown Prince as soon as he was summoned -- that is, to assure the royal regime that the US will not abandon the House of Saud’s plans? Maybe, just maybe, this is what the US stalls for? Maybe, but if this is the case, then America has long since ceased being anything other than an oil junkie, holding on for dear life to the robes of its dealer.

Maybe Bush is waiting for God and Cheney to extricate him from the total mess his administration has delivered to the US and the rest of the world. Neither of these illustrious entities can save the Bushies from the total doom that is quite ready to pounce on the prevaricating criminals scumming up the White House.

To hell with the bush administration and the politicians. That's what most people are saying these days anyway, but what are we doing about it? There is no way we can count on this administration do take any action outside of it's own selfish interests unless it is forced to do so. The dems don't seem to be so anxious to make the changes either. Essentially, it's up to us to step up and take action to force change.

There's a pretty heathy people's movement to impeach Bush, Cheney and prosecute a whole cabal of the real evil doers. Impeachment seems to be the only way to shake the trees and send a real message to Washington and the whole political class that the jig is up and it's time to start anew with a whole other set of fresh and sustainable perspectives.

We are standing on the precipice of complete national demoralization if we let these geopolitical criminals get away without being thrown out of office and prosecuted. What will it say about who we are as a people? Are we willing to let all this pass unpunished? Is this what it comes down to; just grab enough cash and do what you want? The right wing rature crowd may be right about the whole judgement day coming soon, the stage certainly appears to set fot it.

Do yourself and the rest of us a favor, do whatever you can to take action against these politicorporate boneheads in office.

sign a petition to support clean elections

sign a petition to impeach

spread ideas through your patronage

Do Something Everyday.

Encourage Others to Act Too.

The time to wait and see needs to end now.

Through the past 30 years I've seen a very disconcerting "morph" taking place. It's been the coalescing of common folk to the Republican mantra of "we hate government". The shallow explanation of that mantra seems to have beguiled the average citizen and needs to be clarified for them.
The Neo-Republican term quoted above when translated means this, We hate the fact that government involvement inhibits our plans to privatize as many facets as possible, drive wages down and find another source of removing tax dollars from the general good into our pockets. By doing this, they create another bottom line which needs to be "fattened" for investors. The only problem is, it can only be accomplished by driving down the wages paid to the rank and file and removing legislation that controls the areas they have "wormed" themselves into.
Example, I worked for a SHORT time at a privatized prison near Okeechobee Fla.
We were paid roughly 35% less than our state-run counterparts, were forced to sign documents during "training" that exposed us to potential civil, administrative and criminal liability which cloaked the corporation in a protective shell. State penal codes required 2 guards per 16 inmates, but somehow the corporation was given a waiver to allow one per sixteen. Although my shift, (3rd) melted along with the inmates EVERY night, all the thermostats read 74 degrees. the personal wear of all the inmates was dingy and oddly, ( as we guards did their laundry while trying to maintain our "suggested" post check times of 4 to 5 minutes ) , There seemed to be NO EVIDENCE of detergent in the washing machines.
The same corporation that "operated" this prison also ran one in Wyoming where a young guard was knifed to death for, I believe, $9.00 per hour. You need to educate the average person to the "dark" side of privatization.
There are many things which MUST NOT be allowed to become another sweet-deal for the corporations. Penal systems, military systems are only 2.
Cull the past and it shouldn't be hard at all to find historic evidence of what happens when you allow your "leaders" to whore themselves out to Republican/corporate swine, then present it to the rank and file. Hopefully it will sink in.

There's one good thing that will come out of all this - and it benefits only the very few - that those of us, from day one, who empatically warned our fellow countrymen and women that sendind this corrupt, murderous, half-witted little piece of shit to the oval office - to the fucking White House - was nothing less than a case of national suicide. We're vindicated, baby!

That he will be remembered as the worst president in American history, there can be little doubt. That he will also go down in history as the first former chief executive to go to federal prison is, by now, a total no-brainer. No leader - and I mean NO leader - since Adolf Hitler seventy years ago, has done more to the destablization of the planet, both militarily and economically. The damage that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney (When is that dirty old bastard going to drop dead??) have done to this fragile planet will be with us for centuries. Of this you can be reasonably certain: Bush is the LAST republican president. As stupid as the American people are, I'm cautiously optimistic they'll never go down that road again.

Happy Christmas, everybody....

No one can solve the problems in the backward parts of the world. Its time that the Neo-Cons, and the rest of Europe and America, give up this time-honoured tradition of "whiteman's burden". The Brits, for the most part, realised this and its time that the USA get the picture. You can't force order and democracy on someone. You can't expect a 3rd world, centuries-old views on women to change overnight, especially by force. You can't fix ancient sectarian, religious, racial, tribal, and family fueds/vendettas by force or outside intervention. Just leave them alone. Blockade their ports, don't allow any travel/emigration to Europe or the USA, and cut off all funding of any military/humanitarian/disaster/debt aid to those regions of the world. Let them sort out their own problems- whether by the sword or by internal dialogue. I'd rather pay more for fuel than fund, through taxes, these crazy military interventions, UN/IMF/Worldbank programs, humanitarian graft aid, etc. Buy energy through other countries and seal off the middle-east until, through attrition, it becomes a stable place.

How Bush can make Iraq disappear by Rosa Brooks
Posted by: rwa on Dec 22, 2006 8:44 AM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Problem: The Joint Chiefs of Staff unanimously oppose a temporary surge in U.S. troops. Solution: Eliminate the office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; reduce chiefs in rank by 10 pay grades.

Problem: Not enough troops exist for an effective surge, and negative media reporting on Iraq makes the problem all too obvious. Solution: Implement an emergency call-up of all journalists registered under the Selective Service Act. Confiscate their laptops and cameras and recorders and send them to Iraq as part of the surge. (Two birds with one stone!)

Problem: Iraq is patently not yet an oasis of stability on the Middle East map. Solution: Erase the word "Iraq" from all maps in the White House. Write in "Oasis of Stability."

True, you have to believe in magic for these tricks to work. But magic is in the air this Christmas season, and W is full of "a sense of wonder and surprise," as he put it in this year's presidential Christmas message.

If you're having trouble feeling the magic, urge the president to try one final trick.

Problem: The troops in Iraq are causing trouble, complaining about a lack of strategy, lack of equipment, lack of clue as to what they're doing there and what they're dying for. Solution: Make our troops disappear from Iraq — by bringing them home.

When it comes to solving the president's problems, that last trick might actually work.

It's iinconceivable to me that Bush can come up with anything other than a repetion of what he has already tried. He has no advisor who has any familiarity with people from outside the US or even people in the US who have experience with folk from other countries and cultures. He thinks like a redneck and acts like a redneck. So almost surely he is going to propose another infusion of troops to "stabilize" Iraq. Too bad that we can't send him to Iraq running security trips from the Green Zone to the airport and back.

A few thoughts on this: 1. georgiepoo is no more the "decider" at the White House than I am, and if he was, our country would probably be a heap of radioactive rubble by now. 2. The REAL powers that be want the Iraq tragedy to last as long as possible. War profits and kickbacks, don't you know. 3. The ONLY way to end this potentially fatal folly is to remove the bushies from power, NOW-not after convening several meaningless meetings or creating commities to "study the problem", but RIGHT GODDAM NOW! Do you Demos want to know what your mandate is? THIS IS IT!

do you really want this war to end? You can end it with a march upon (2) locations; Washington D.C and Wall Street.

Onward christen soilders! This action is to redress grievances that the citizens of this nation have about the shadow government and the bankers that Control ALL offices of this nation.

What is the definition of success and failure?
Posted by: thoughtcriminal on Dec 22, 2006 1:59 PM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
I'm not sure what Bush means by 'winning in Iraq' but I'm pretty sure that if the end result is that an Evo Morales-type character comes along and nationalizes Iraq's oilfields and refineries (i.e. refuses to let Exxon, Shell, BP, Saudi Aramco, etc. control the oil output) - well, that will certainly be a failure. If the new Iraqi government signs contracts with Russia and China and France instead of with US and Britain, that will also be seen as a failure.

The entire war and occupation, from the US viewpoint. is about controlling the output of oil from the Middle East, especially now that the Saudi oilfields are in decline. The heroin-oil junkie analogy is wrong; the US-British system is that of the heroin dealer, not the junkie. The dealer doesn't want any competition on his block, and neither does he want his customers to kick their habit. Check out Rob Newman's History of Oil at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7374585792978336967.

Thus, Bush&Co. have two real goals: (1) control the global oil supply and thus the global oil markets, and (2) prevent the expansion of solar, wind and other renewable energy systems that could replace fossil fuels. They also work overtime to prevent any CO2 emissisons reduction agreements for mitigating global warming from being implemented.

If Iraq wasn't the home of the last largest reserves, then the US would never have invaded the country, Saddam, WMD's or not. This is blatantly obvious, and all journalists who ignore the primacy of the issue are really just playing a con game on the public. For example, there has been little coverage of the fact that Iraqi oil employee unions are as a group opposed to the privatization of Iraqi oil fields (see http://www.accuracy.org/newsrelease.php?articleId=1407).

As far as the locals go, Arabs and Persians alike should recognize that once the oil is gone, they are all going to go back to riding camels and picking dates unless they do two things: (1)drastically reduce the amount of oil they sell on the world market (this will make the income last longer) - a 70% reduction in output from the Middle East would be appropriate, and (2) come up with some kind of alternative energy system that will allow their societies to go on functioning after the oil is gone; solar and wind are far preferable to nuclear (plus, the desert is both sunny and windy).

In the corporate press, the oil issue is ignored and we get to read about fundamentalist Islamic terrorism... but we generally don't get to read about how such terrorism has largely been financed by American and Saudi petrodollars. Bush has his Christian fundie fanatics; the Saudis and the Iranians have their various brands of Islamic fundie fanatics, and the Israelis have their Likud Jewish fundie fanatics. As has been the case so often in history, these 'religious conflicts' are just cover for a struggle for wealth and power; in this case the real issue is control of global energy supplies.

For those who haven't reviewed The Iraq Study Group Report, it confirms and sustains the Bush Admin. policy. The US is staying in Iraq permanently, or at least until they've taken all the oil inconveniently planted under Iraq soil. That is until the Iraqi people throw the U.S. out, or a rebellion in this country gets so contentious, the government can no longer stand the heat; and nothing will happen until that point. Don't count on the dimmycrats or Hillary to stop this madness.
Let's roll!

It seems like a tipping point has finally been reached. So-called staunch "conservatives" on Scarborough are talking about impeachment:

"...We have a president of the United States who is isolated. He`s delusional. He is stubborn. He has had one intervention that clearly didn't work, the Baker-Hamilton report. He is clearly in need of another intervention."

Get ready for the drama. Bush is finally going to be sacrificed on the alter for all of the ruinous policies of the past six years, none of which he personally had a direct hand in promulgating.

This is what Poppy Bush was crying about a few weeks ago.

The final solution(excuse the pun) is to try GW Bush at the World Court for genocide & other crimes against humanity.
The USA has consistently shown it cannot handle this current very corrupt Government.
IF GW Bush appears before the world court the USA could gain some of it's loss-ed credibility.
To impeach Bush & throw him out of office is NOT enough.

A lot of discussion now on Iraq seems to focus on the chaos and mass human rights violations being perpetrated by the US, Iraq's Interior Ministry, various militias, and so on.

That's great, but there's one piece of the puzzle that seems to have been left out: oil. Don't forget, controlling Iraq's oil was the main reason for invading Iraq. So when we try to figure out why Bush wants to escalate the war, let's not forget that the US doesn't (yet) have firm control over Iraqi oil.

because the world can't wait! Drive Out the Bush Regime
www.worldcantwait.org

The whole program of the Bush administration must be stopped. If George Bush is allowed to finish out his term, all the destruction and the whole direction he has taken society will be condoned, legitimated and made permanent. We demand Congress investigate and hold accountable the Bush Administration for criminal liability and bring articles of impeachment against the President.

Generations from now people will ask what did the people of this country do when they knew their government was committing war crimes: launching a war based on the unlawful doctrine of “preventive” war; indiscriminately using cluster bombs, depleted uranium and chemical weapons against civilians; and carrying out an illegal occupation?

What will you say when they ask why a President who decided he could order torture with impunity stayed in office?

Will your answer be that we did nothing because Congress refused to act, counseling governing from the center and working with the President and seeking unity and common ground with war criminals, religious fanatics and fascists?

Your government, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous and utterly immoral and illegitimate war in Iraq – with Iran now in its sights.

Your government is openly torturing people. In violation of international law, with the Military Commissions Act of 2006, it has made torture legal and granted itself immunity from criminal prosecution.

Your government is creating a police state – obliterating basic constitutional protections, such as the right to habeas corpus, the right to privacy and the right to dissent.

For the war to end now, for torture to stop, to restore rights stolen, we the people must act. No one will do this for us. That which you do not resist and mobilize to stop, you will learn – or be forced – to accept.

We can and must create a political situation where the Bush regime’s whole program is repudiated, where Bush himself is driven from office and where the whole direction he has been taking society is reversed.

THE ACTUAL PURPOSE FOR THE IRAQ WAR!!

AS WELL AS MOST EVERY OTHER WAR AMERICA FELL INTO!

You cannot get rid of President Bush. That is because most every other person in government today openly AND SECRETLY supports what he is doing. That includes most of the Democrats, including THOSE WHO BITTERLY CONDEMN HIM.

There is something called INFILTRATION. Bush was cocky from the beginning because he knows people are deliberately planted into most every position of public trust in America today who helped him to get elected and who supports what he is doing. These implanted into position are determined to destroy free America and make it into an exact duplicate as the Inquisitions. That's where the principles of the Patriot Act came from. The principles in the Patriot Act are as old as the Inquisitions and which were emulated by the Communist and Nazi regimes. It was these things that the man Jack Chick was warning us about with his Chick Comics.

The Iraq War has a far greater pricetag than can be imagined. During that war, loyal constitutional soldiers were deliberately denied proper bodyarmor protection, and they were betrayed into their deaths. The government didn't care as was shown by Rumsfeld telling a soldier he needs to be satisfied with finding innovative ways to dig in landfills for body armor protection. We saw the neocons hate that soldier for daring to ask why they need to look in landfills for body armor, and then scream "TRAITOR" to anyone who loved that soldier.

The government doesn't hate all the soldiers: they only hate those soldiers that will protect the American people and who would NEVER enforce tyranny upon them or the Patriot Act!
BUSH NOW HAS DICTATOR POWERS, BUT IS LYING LOW TILL MORE OF OUR FREEDOM-FIGHTERS ARE DESTROYED IN IRAQ!

HE THEREFORE CHANTS, "STAY THE COURSE!" ON A WAR HE HIMSELF HAS BETTER SENSE THAN TO PARTICIPATE IN.

The proverbial enemies of America: the Communists and Nazis, are the best infiltrators. From times far earlier than the World Wars, strange people started to infiltrate America to capture all of its high positions. These high positions help to appoint employees below them. As good Americans occupying these positions retire or die, it is through the higher-ups that they are replaced with others bent on treason. The last leg to destroy freedom is when this has happened to the military till enough constitutional American soldiers are methodically placed on the front lines of wars so that they can die. The enemies of America always love military activity and war, because when we enter into wars, they begin to attack their own comrades and work out mysterious ways to get rid of them and kill them. They also then seek to kill journalists so that positions can be opened where they will also be replaced by other journalists who will lie gloriously against the American people.

Therefore, with the Communists dominating Communist countries, and then communist infiltrators dominating our positions of public trust, and then our loyal CONSTITUTIONAL American soldiers killed off in war, something then strange happens:

Our American leaders and those of the other free countries, united with the Communist countries, can then put the entire globe under horrible global nuclear terror and tyranny in order to depopulate it! The new infiltrator media personnel will lie to the world when it is time to explain who is responsible for the nuclear weapons hitting populous cities.

Hey, by then the global population would indeed realize that it was a horrible global conspiracy planned to cost them everything. It is therefore best to suddenly annihilate as many of the global population as possible without them realizing what will hit them. Bush and most of the rest of our national leaders, join with their brothers the communists and the lying media to pretend to have serious differences between themselves and they plant nuclear devices right on populated cities to kill off as many as possible.

THEY WILL BE VERY SUCESSFUL!

Rev. 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

There really is a formula to solve this Iraq business to everyone’s satisfaction. As any good negotiator knows, workable compromises require that all parties first state their desires. In the case of Prince George, he’s been hesitant to divulge what it is he actually wants. To see the solution to this problem, check out the blog Digging Deeper at http://ivangoldman.blogspot.com/

After trying desperately to avoid the following conclusion, for I steer clear of predictions of doom, I believe that the US is headed for a catastrophic economic, internal, and international collapse. We are so delicately balanced, near over the edge, on so many factors and issues, that the snapping of any one thread could cause our house of cards to fold. Remember all the while, there are a wide host of other nations strongly prepared to fill the vacuum left by an American collapse, much as mammals rose from the demise of the massive dinosaurs. I hope I'm wrong.
