When the current Israeli war in Lebanon began, some leading Israeli doves quickly declared their support for it: Novelist Amos Oz, one of the founders of Peace Now and a tireless advocate of a two-state solution, wrote a bellicose op-ed piece for the Los Angeles Times on July 19. "The Israeli peace movement should support Israel's attempt at self-defense, pure and simple," Oz declared.

Yossi Beilin went even further. He's another prominent peace activist, one of the architects of the 1993 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinians and justice minister at the time of Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000. He was also one of the architects of the 2003 Geneva Accord, a joint Israeli-Palestian nongovernmental two-state solution to the conflict that was comprehensive, detailed and followed closely the principles outlined in the 2000 paramaters laid out by President Clinton. In a July 25 Washington Post article headlined "Israeli 'Doves' Say Response Is Legitimate," Beilin was quoted saying that instead of invading Lebanon, Israel should have attacked Syria for arming Hezbollah.

But recently some Israeli doves have begun to speak out in the Israeli media against the war. Tom Segev is one of Israel's best historians and writers, and a man of the left. "Israel has adopted the moral values of Hezbollah," he wrote in the Israeli daily Ha'aretz August 3 after Israel bombed civilians in Qana. "Whatever they are doing to the residents of northern Israel, we can also do to the citizens of Lebanon, and even more. Many Israelis tended to look at the Qana incident primarily as a media disaster and not as something that imposed on them any ethical responsibility."

Gideon Levy is the former spokesman for Shimon Peres, now a writer for Ha'aretz who often criticizes the moral blindness of Israeli society toward Palestinians. "Israel is sinking into a strident, nationalistic atmosphere and darkness is beginning to cover everything," he wrote July 30. He denounced "the insensitivity and blindness" of Israelis, the "tones of jingoism, ruthlessness and vengeance" that dominate public discourse. He reminded Israelis that Lebanon "has never fought Israel and has 40 daily newspapers, 42 colleges and universities," and that it "is being destroyed by our planes and cannon and nobody is taking into account the amount of hatred we are sowing."

Ze'ev Sternhell is Leon Blum Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Hebrew University. Israel today, he wrote in Ha'aretz July 28, "is dominated by thinking even more primitive than the thinking that led Ariel Sharon to Beirut about a quarter of a century ago." He explained that "it is impossible to uproot Hezbollah from among the Shiites without destroying the population itself... well-organized armies equipped with modern technology have always failed in attempts to defeat irregular forces. The latter know how to adapt themselves to their surroundings, they are an inseparable part of the population and they serve its material, religious and emotional needs."

Sternhell is correct in his assessment of hte tragedy occurrung here. Many innocent lives have been lost on both sides! Bush is loving all this,a s he wants to take attention away from his disaster in Iraq, where our children are still dying, and their children are still dying.
This is feeding Hezbollah as well, in that they are coming in to 'rescue' Lebanese citizens, providing them water and medical attention, where the government is not aiding it's own citizens. It's a no win situation for all those involved, while Bush is in his glory, as this keeps Iraq off the news media radar. Americans should be very ashamed of the militant leadership in htis country!

Decent Israelis are learning what a terrible mistake it is to be a lapdog for the ambitious dominion-based Bushie war criminals. Instead of emulating the war crimes of the greedy Bushies, they should be pushing for a commerically-integrated Middle East with Israel as its #1 economic leader. Israel should forget about fighting Arabs/Muslims and work with them to secure economic security for all.

Bush Christians & Neocons want nothing less than war forever more Amen

Sooner or later ordinary American citizens, and ordinary Izraelis, are going to understand that the violent Christian Conservative movements unholy matrimony to the violent Zionist Izrael Lobby (headed by AIPAC) are two minority extremist factions thriving on haterd and bigotry and using the rest of us as pawns. They have made us responsible for the carnage and atrocities Iraq and Lebanon and have blamed "terrorists" which to them means all civilians of Iraq, l Lebanon and Palestinians. The neocons want to change the world in order to satisfy an evil fantasy they have devised in a scheme called the Project for A New American Century (PNAC). Reports this morning around the web highlight that AIPAC led Israel Lobby is unsatisfied with Izraels obscen murder of a thousand civilians and billions of dollars worth of destruction of Lebanons infrastructure and property.
Ken Silverstien reported this on the Harpers Magazine website:

AIPAC's goal, it seems to me, is to demonstrate that
Israel's campaign in Lebanon is targeting an international,
globally-linked terrorist alliance that threatens not only the
Jewish state, but the West in general. By this logic, any
military action Israel decides upon is incontestably
necessary.

Which brings us to exhibit three: yesterday, as diplomats
desperately tried to work out a solution to the war in Le
Lebanon, AIPAC distributed a press release mocking the
idea that a beefed-up UN force could be effective in south
Lebanon, and concluding that only a “robust international
force” could ensure a lasting peace—with “robust” almost
surely being code for “significant American participation.”
AIPAC, the release explained, opposes a ceasefire until
this international force is dispatched and Hezbollah is
disarmed.
If AIPAC gets its wish, it will be a long, long time before
there's a ceasefire.

We must shout about the the connection between the Izrael Lobby, the Christian Cult and the the radical right-wing Izraelis who have made an alliance of convenience in order to wage all out war against Arab nations for their own selfish reasons. Until we confront them there will be no peace.

Wake Up

For DECADES Israeli Peace Activists have been standing up, and speaking out against the root cause of why there is terrorism:

The Israeli occupation, oppression and aggression against Palestinians who have been 'led' by corrupt leadership.

Israeli Peace activists are routinely ignored by the MSM.
The WAWA blog has been reporting on them since my first of three trips to Israel Palestine beginning in June 2005.

For the past 18 years of Friday afternoons, Women in Black have held a vigil against the occupation of Palestine in west Jerusalem.

Gilda Svirsky, Eliyahou Mclain, Jeff Halper are among the many American Israeli's who have been speaking out and the WAWA blog has reported on them and other Israeli and Palestinian Peace Activists.

With the world focused on Lebanon, and seven weeks into Israel's offensive on Gaza the civilian population is desperate, isolated, defenceless and ignored by USA media.

The root of the mayhem in the Mid East is the 4 decades of OCCUPATION, a 6 decade long refugee crisis, an illegal wall that grabs land, water and divides families, home demolitions without reason or compensation, taxation without any services, denial of human rights, and USA blind allegience to Israeli government actions.

the following is an excerpt from Aug 12, WAWA BLOG:

"The Israeli aggression is relentless, and Israel benefits from Lebanon, in that the world is not paying attention to Gaza," said Interior Minister Said Syiam in Gaza City. "I appeal to the world to pay attention."

AT LEAST TWO ISRAELI FIGHTER PILOTS DELIBERATELY MISS CIVILIAN TARGET
Inigo Gilmore at Hatzor Air Base, Israel
Sunday August 6, 2006
The Observer

At least two Israeli fighter pilots have deliberately missed civilian targets in Lebanon as disquiet grows in the military about flawed intelligence, The Observer has learnt. Sources say the pilots were worried that targets had been wrongly identified as Hizbollah facilities. Voices expressing concern over the armed forces' failures are getting louder.

DIRECT ACTION AGAINST WAR IN LEBANON 08-08-06
12 activists of the left were arrested in demonstration in front of the air force base. About 25 activists stood this morning (Tuesday) in front the Ramat David base carrying placards on which was written: `stop killing of civilians`, `stop the war crimes`. They called for immediate cease fire and releasing all the prisoners and war prisoners. Israel, North, direct action against the war in Lebanon in front of Ramat David Air Force

STOP THE WAR DEMOS EACH SUNDAY AND ANTI-WAR ADS
While the government gave the green light to intensifying and prolonging the war for weeks or months, today at 6pm a Stop the War demo was called opposite the Defence Ministry in Tel-Aviv. It was initiated by selective refusers (Ometz Lesarev) as an effort to unite those who opposed the war from the start with those who feel that now is the time to stop it. Gush Shalom's daily anti-war paid ads can be read also on www.gush-shalom.org. Demos are held each Sunday.

DRAFTED ART- ARTISTS CALLING FOR IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE AND RELEASE OF PRISONERS We are opposed to the war, to the Israeli army’s horrible bombardment of Lebanon and to Hezballah’s firing of rockets onto northern Israel. Our conflict with our neighbors has lasted for more than 100 years and so the question of who started this round of violence is irrelevant. We believe that conflicts are solved through dialogue, negotiations and compromise, not through violence, more bombings and annihilations, more security zones and occupations, more territories in which soldiers and civilians alike will be killed from both sides. http://maarav.org.il/draftedart/

I remember

when I lived in West Africa there were many Lebanese. They treated the African like shit on a pole. So many of them don't like Blacks. If the world were their hegemony, I think Blacks would suffer more under Lebanese than what we do under european world hegemony AND LEBANESE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE PEOPLE OF COLOR go figure.

They hung Condi's "vampire picture" as a sign or protest when it's both the euro-israelis and euro-gentile's war, she just does what she's told (albeit she don't believe it), but the Lebanese can't bring themselves to fault what they want most to be, white.

So should I, as a black person, feel sorry for them? I say NO!, I feel sorry for the actions of the european towards all people of color, it just so happens that the Lebanese, whether they wish to recognize or not, just happen to be in our category.

To this day, Israel has denied to the UN the use of such weapons even though they admit that they do by their leaders on their own soil. To date, Israel refuses the IAEA to review their nuclear weapons facilities.

The Price of Dependence on Sugar Daddy America

It is good that some Israeli's are starting to recognize the travesty and tragedy of their government and its policies. And I would also suggest that no Israeli should think for a minute that all that money and all those weapons from the USA comes really "free' or without a "price". The "price" is that Israel's leaders now unadmittedly are stuck doing the USA's bidding. Don't think for a minute the USA does not have designs on Iran, and Israel can very convieniently be used to ratchet tension up on her in many ways. Israel is a constant source of tension for several Arab states that the USA wants to keep "under control" , espcially as they are rich oil states. A very nice situation for the USA then to use Israel to keep the pressure on. And remember also the USA is a "Christian nation" whose leaders are very uncomforable "dealing with Muslims." So how long does the little boy keep accepting dollars from the rich Uncle? I would tell Israeli F-16 pilots then to think about this, think about it before dropping your next load of white phosphorus and cluster bombs on Lebanese school children.

"Earlier today, August 11, the Israeli Army and Border Police shot an Israeli demonstrator with rubber bullets from close range in the head and neck, causing serious injuries. The man, who is a lawyer, was taken by the army to Tel Hasomer hospital from where he is reported to have suffered brain damage."

"In total 9 people were shot with rubber bullets in a non-violent demonstration in Bil'in. "

"The purpose of the march was to demonstrate against the 'New Style of Killing' where even children are targetted by Israeli military forces."

"The solders' commander claimed the demonstration was illegal although an Israeli court has previously confirmed the right of Bil'in villagers to hold demonstrations."

I know you all want to do professional jobs in your analysis. But I do not think this can be done if everyone leaves of the role that mind influencing technology is playing in all this.

Recent example for thought: the timing of the Hezbollah kidnapping. And if Hezbollah had access to such technology, they would use it.

For more on these technology see http://etisoppa.blogspot.com/

An axis of peace?

This is very good news for the people of Israel and all the neighboring countries, and points the way to a long-term solution in which Arabs and Jews can live side-by-side in peace in the Mideast. No doubt the dictators of the MidEast (the Saudis and their ilk) will do everything they can to prevent this - because then they will no longer be able to distract their own repressed populations by opposing Israel.

The Saudi princes should all be banished to the Riviera along with all the leftover feudal lords of the Mideast - then we'd see democracy taking over in Iran, the end of the cleric's rule, and real peace and prosperity in the region. The Zionists can go find a new home - maybe Brooklyn? - of course, the international oil cartels would lose control over MidEast oil. Then American citizens can put their efforts into building a robust renewable energy economy - instead of dumping their hard-earned dollars into the pockets of the IOCs, Bush & Cheney cronies, and their Saudi henchmen (which is what currently happens every time we put gas in our cars).

They Aren't Marching to Olmert's Beat

It was nice to hear some Israelis lash out at this latest "war" against Lebanon and the Palestinians in Gaza. Yes, rockets were launched into Israel and several soldiers were kidnapped, and although some said Israel's course of actions was justified, the response was one of overkill.
Almost overnight untold numbers of Lebanese and Palestinians became homeless (well, the Palestinians have been homeless a lot longer).
Americans haven't heard too much about the Israelis who oppose Olmert's drive into Lebanon. Not every Israeli is for needless aggression against their neighbors. It's only hurting Israel more.
Israel has to learn how to make peace. Israel cannot use force as a diplomatic tool. But I'm glad there are some Israelis who want to live peacefully with their Arab friends. Their efforts are paying off.
The music is not to Olmert's liking.
