The Ugly Truth About the President

You know it, I know it and the American people know it. But everyone is afraid to say it. They say it privately, but people are afraid of saying it publicly because you will be branded as a liberal, elite, intellectual snob. But believe me, you don't have to be an intellectual to see how painfully stupid our president is.

Just look at the conversation he is having with world leaders at the G-8 summit. Mikes picked up the casual talk between the world leaders. Forget that Bush appears to have three sandwiches in his mouth while talking. Forget that he calls out to the Prime Minister of Britain as if he is Flounder in "Animal House." Forget that he uses profanity. I don't give a shit about those things.

I thought it was ridiculous that people made fun of George H. W, Bush for vomiting on the Japanese Prime Minister. What was he going to do? He had to puke, so he puked. It happens to the best of us, and more importantly, has nothing to do with his intelligence or how capable he is as a leader.

But his son's verbal vomit does have a lot to do with his ability to lead this country and the world. What I found to be the most damning is the least quoted part of Bush's comments. As you read this transcript, remember that this is not a small child talking, but the President of the United States of America:

The camera is focused elsewhere and it is not clear whom Bush is talking to, but possibly Chinese President Hu Jintao, a guest at the summit.

Bush: "Gotta go home. Got something to do tonight. Go to the airport, get on the airplane and go home. How about you? Where are you going? Home?

Bush: "This is your neighborhood. It doesn't take you long to get home. How long does it take you to get home?"

Reply is inaudible.

Bush: "Eight hours? Me too. Russia's a big country and you're a big country."

At this point, the president seems to bring someone else into the conversation.

Bush: "It takes him eight hours to fly home."

He turns his attention to a server.

Bush: "No, Diet Coke, Diet Coke."

He turns back to whomever he was talking with.

Bush: "It takes him eight hours to fly home. Eight hours. Russia's big and so is China."

Russia's big and so is China??????? This guys sounds like a third grader. Do you know anyone who would have a conversation like this with their neighbor, let alone a business associate, let alone a world leader? Who's proud to know that Russia is big and so is China?

Can anyone now credibly claim that Bush is secretly working on a master plan behind the scenes and that he's just playing cowboy for the cameras? I hope the master plan doesn't involve figuring out how long it takes to get to China.

If someone is this ignorant, they're usually embarrassed and try not to talk much. But this guy is so dumb he has no idea how dumb he is. This sounds like a conversation you might have with a child, a mentally challenged child. Johnny, do you know how big Russia is? How about China?

It would appear from the text above that he's dumb as dogshit.

But let's step back and entertain other possibilities. It can't hurt, right?

Now, I have one premise that must be included in any logical debate about Bush's intelligence (if such discussion can itself be logical)...

- George W. Bush is a sick, twisted person

If this is accepted, then I don't see why Bush must be stupid, for a simple reason: does it benefit someone in his position to be seen as intelligent, and thus responsible for his actions?

If he's viewed by enough of the people to be of low-intelligence, but a generally "good guy" he could get away with murder.

I mean, what if? We know he's sick, responsible for thousands of deaths, and he feels no pain. What if he's quietly laughing at you from behind that idiotic gaze, knowing his act works, and knowing how much he can get away with because of it?

Indeed, in many ways, this has been the 'Terry Schiavo Presidency.'
When Bush is finally out of office and an autopsy is done on his presidency, it be will discovered--as many of us knew all along--that George W. Bush was brain-dead.

Now in center field for the United States, ...

As I reflect on the St. Louis Cardinal’s Albert Pujol’s well-deserved MVP award for the 2005 season, and on the baseball farm system through which he rose to get there, I am grateful that baseball is not run like the American political system.

For you see, in politics, like baseball, we have a system that sifts through the multitude of wannabe candidates who percolate up through the ranks of contenders to select just one from millions for the White House - an MVP of politics so to speak - because if we ran baseball the way that they run politics, Stephen Hawking would probably be playing center field for the New York Yankees.

In the White House, we have an organ grinder's monkey serving as the President.

Didn't we just do this HERE? I think that we are all pretty much in agreement that the Commander-in-Chimp was sort of an idiot savant, but without the savant part - a sort of a Rain Man without the intellect or the social graces.

They will try to WIN at all costs!

Blair's not much better

Bush is thick as pigshit, there is no doubt. It is unfortunate, as it has given anti-Americans everywhere the opportunity to tar Americans, as a whole, with the same brush.

While Blair's so-called eloquence wins him plaudits in the US (much to the bemusement of people here in the UK), this open-mic fiasco has also completely confirmed to us what a complete and utter twat Blair is.

To all Americans who think Blair is somehow admirable: please revisit the full transcript of the conversation - his 'George, plllleeeassse can I go to the Middle East? Oh go on, I'm not doing anything important and I can leave right now. Go on, pllllleeeese' routine is truly embarrassing to those who thought his impression of a poodle couldn't get any more uncanny.

True, but not the point...

The article does tell the truth - our prez is completely out of his depth when talking of anything except fishing and possibly the (local) weather.

But that's not the point. The point is that his administration knows exactly what it is doing. It is supporting the interests of the big corporations who helped to put them in power and keep them there. Look at the way the war on the people of Iraq is going: everyone is losing. Our soldiers are dieing. The people of Iraq are dieing. The US is increasingly looked upon as a pedator nation.

But the big corporations - Bush and Cheney's masters - are reaping in the profits.

Do they care if their boss puts his foot in his mouth every time he opens it? No. So long as they continue to make massive amounts of dosh.

Providing us with some great comic relief . . . isn't that was he was elected for? But I do agree with one commentor - if you have ever been around the severely mentally ill for a while, you know that under the veneer of that stupidity there lurks the twisted mind of a full-blown freak. Isn't that what the neighbors of a serial killer usually say? "He just seemed like an average, nice guy . . ."

Bush has been verbally-vomiting for almost 60 years and he has no idea that he is verbally-vomiting. How pitiful. But even more pitiful is the fact that the Bushies are killing lots of people and killing lots of nations. If we are interested in being a democracy in the USA then we will impeach Bush/Cheney and soon.

Okay, so Bush is a moron and his handlers are crooks. What are we going to do about it? Vote for whomever the Republican Lites nominate?

The problem is that both parties are owned by big business; neither is a party of the people. Voting one party out and the other in isn't the answer. The only practicable way out of this dead end is to dictate the platforms of both parties.

We have to make the elections about issues that people are for and corporations are against. War and peace, civil rights, healthcare, public education, and jobs are among such issues.

I believe that a strong grassroots movement could do just that. Join the Lincoln Initiative; make "government of the people, by the people, and for the people" a reality. Click on The Lincoln Initiative

This is supposed to be a story? Who the hell doesn't know Bush is an idiot? Other than old republicans I don't know of anyone who won't comment on Bush's sub-normal intelligence. How about a worthwhile story? Something positive, not just hate mongering and regurgitated ideas. I've only been on of this site for about an hour now ever and already all I've seen is scare tactics and political trash, most of which comes from a very hateful point of view despite the supposed "earth friendly" point of view of the site. Oh, wait, it's earth friendly, not person friendly...

I am quite sure that Bush knew exactly what he was doing here. I knew it as soon as I watched the way Tony Snow commented on it, this was more PR from the greatest show on Earth. Everyone is acting like George Bush was caught with his pants down, but what is it that he said that doesn't promote his agenda exactly? You really think he wasn't aware that he was totally surrounded by microphones? Please! You can say whatever you want about this guy, but he is as savvy as they come and you won't see anything in public that he doesn't want you to see. How long are people going to 'misunderestimate' this guy anyway? He wants to be perceived as a plain spoken, tough as nails guy, which is exactly how this plays. The roll he is chewing on look like a piece of business they give a stage actor to me. And an article like this plays directly into his hands. The folks that voted for Bush absolutely love seeing him 'cut through the crap at the UN' - that is exactly why they hired him. And as soon as they see an article like this, it incites them to love him all over again. Stop taking the bait. This story plays straight into Karl Rove's playbook.

1. Your president is not the leader of the free world! He is the leader of America, the "attention deficit democracy." That is all. Sure America has influence over the rest of the free world, but today it is highly resented by us because we've known how stupid yor leader is for a long time and we think you're stupid for voting him in, particularly a second time! STOP giving in to fear politics! If you don't, they win!

2. What I think the press, including you, missed is Bush saying (paraphrasing); "...are we going to let those guys talk...they talk too much..."

Saying this about someone across the table, a leader of another country, is just plain ignorant!! So, he is likely not as stupid as he appears, however he is clearly ignorant. It is as if America doesn't concern itself with others' opinions...the only thing to discuss is what America wants (more oil, more food, more this more that!). Take take take. You've already robbed my country and several others of their resources, now you're looking for more elsewhere...

It's really just a shame. Your greed, politcal methods and business tactics are deplorable, around the world.

I will never buy an american car, never go to a starbucks or mcdonalds, never drink coke, etc, and never again work for an american corporation. Never! If Gandhi is your next president this will not change... I have access to a free condo in Florida to use during the winter...will not spend a dime there...ever again.

America, in the world family, is our older brother who has clearly gone insane, has clearly lost his way and needs to be institutionalized for a while.

First thing, throw the Republican Party out. Next, impeach Bush and Cheney. Then, throw the Democratic Party out.

I have no problem using the Democrats to get BushCo down and hogtied. And I have no problem disposing of them once they've served their purpose. Let anyone who wants to really be a civil servant reapply under a new party name. Any party name.

Of course, wishing won't make it so.

It pains me to agree with the impression Bush gave, but I cannot watch that video without cringing. It is fine if, in a private room, two world leaders have become such chums that they both revert to a kind of beer and football level of conversation, but we the citizens don't actually like to imagine that. I for one would like to think the leaders are "on point" every moment, though I cannot imagine how difficult that can be.
It is one thing to be plain spoken. I value that characteristic in anyone, much greater than so called nuanced speaking like that of Kofi Annan, who can talk for 15 minutes and, once laid out and analysed, say vitually nothing with teeth to it. From that perspective, "they need to stop this shit" is refreshingly straightforward, but, it is painfully obvious, and delivered in such an awful way as to really tarnish ones image.
To be caught like that is as bad a a fart in an elevator, but in that case at least you can deny it.

You speak of the Kerry-Bush debates, but they were truly debates of equals. The awful truth is that in 2004, we were given the choice between two blue-blooded Ivy-League D-students who have lived lives served on silver platters. The awful truth C-SPAN regularly reveals is that we are governed by empty-headed, photogenic morons. The Emperor has no clothes. His cabinet has no clothes. I thought it was the most realistic peek into politics I have seen in a long time. No shiny, baby kissing with over inflated crap about policy and leadership. After living in Europe for two years, it made me proud to be the straight talking American I was raised to be. I know this sounds bad, but as much show and sh*t that leaders put on, it was nice to see some real American style. You know, I thought his manner of eating in the presence of other political leaders demonstrated utter ignorance, or minimally, cluelessness, or perhaps it is just his way of saying "I'm King George, Screw you all! I don't need no stinking manners!". Sadly, I believe it was the latter, just another demonstration of his superior attitude; what an embarassment! I was appalled at how he, with that cocky texas-style-frat-boy attitude, consumed his food with no attempt to keep his mouth closed I could just hear the smacking noises coming from his mouth as if I was Blair. He is truly nauseating.

The 2004 nominations were rigged by Republicans registering as Democrats to vote in the primaries for the Democrat they thought was easiest to beat and also voting heavily for the Democrat in his own area, such as Kerry in Pa, John Edwards in that area, Clark in his area, denying any one candidate a clear majority. "The Scream" was a scam which they the press dutifully parrotted the rs line that Dean was an-out-of-control nutcase. Dean was no way as protrayed. Dems were dumb enough to fall for it, one Democrat vowed not to vote for Dean and since she is originally from Texas did notbother to correct her

Interesting, isn't it, how the mind of most people works. It puts a label on things, or is tricked into putting a label on things, and then reacts to that label. The philosopher calls it "formatory thinking", either-or thinking, jumping to conclusions, etc. Before he got elected (the first time) most people thought of him - if they thought of him at all - as some crafty little idiot trying to pull swifties on everyone. Then he got declared president and suddeny everything changed. Suddenly people started to whisper in reverential tones: "The president", and to treat him according to that label. It's a bit like saying Italy is the best soccer team in the world, now that they have the World Cup.

From John Dean's 7/14 Boston Globe article:

"Today's Republican policies are antithetical to bedrock conservative fundamentals. There is nothing conservative about preemptive wars or disregarding international law by condoning torture. Abandoning fiscal responsibility is now standard operating procedure. Bible-thumping, finger-pointing, tongue-lashing attacks on homosexuals are not found in Russell Krik's classic conservative canons, nor in James Burham's guides to conservative governing. Conservatives in the tradition of former senator Barry Goldwater and President Ronald Reagan believed in "conserving" this planet, not relaxing environmental laws to make life easier for big business. And neither man would have considered employing Christian evangelical criteria in federal programs, ranging from restricting stem cell research to fighting AIDs through abstinence.

Candid and knowledgeable Republicans on the far right concede -- usually only when not speaking for attribution -- that they are not truly conservative. They do not like to talk about why they behave as they do, or even to reflect on it. Nonetheless, their leaders admit they like being in charge, and their followers grant they find comfort in strong leaders who make them feel safe. This is what I gleaned from discussions with countless conservative leaders and followers, over a decade of questioning.

I started my inquiry in the mid-1990s, after a series of conversations with Goldwater, whom I had known for more than 40 years. Goldwater was also mystified (when not miffed) by the direction of today's professed conservatives -- their growing incivility, pugnacious attitudes, and arrogant and antagonistic style, along with a narrow outlook intolerant of those who challenge their thinking. He worried that the Republican Party had sold its soul to Christian fundamentalists, whose divisive social values would polarize the nation.

For almost half a century, social scientists have been exploring authoritarianism. We do not typically associate authoritarianism with our democracy, but as I discovered while examining decades of empirical research, we ignore some findings at our risk. Unfortunately, the social scientists who have studied these issues report their findings in monographs and professional journals written for their peers, not for general readers. With the help of a leading researcher and others, I waded into this massive body of work.

What I found provided a personal epiphany. Authoritarian conservatives are, as a researcher told me, ``enemies of freedom, antidemocratic, antiequality, highly prejudiced, mean-spirited, power hungry, Machiavellian and amoral." And that's not just his view. To the contrary, this is how these people have consistently described themselves when being anonymously tested, by the tens of thousands over the past several decades.

Authoritarianism's impact on contemporary conservatism is beyond question. Because this impact is still growing and has troubling (if not actually evil) implications, I hope that social scientists will begin to write about this issue for general readers. It is long past time to bring the telling results of their empirical work into the public square and to the attention of American voters. No less than the health of our democracy may depend on this being done. We need to stop thinking we are dealing with traditional conservatives on the modern stage, and instead recognize that they've often been supplanted by authoritarians."

All of this palaver will get us nowhere. Why? Because it's over! Much of the damage done by the Bush cabal, Cheney, Rove, Rice, the Supreme Court and others will prove to be irreversible. As long as we have no real opposition party and given the corrupt mass media's continuing dumbing-down of the sheeple, and corporate America's blatant and legal bribery of Congress, who is going to bail us out? God?
Don't make me laugh. God's on Dubya's side, remember.
Besides, Falwell, Robertson, Dobson and the rest of the bible-thumpers will rally the morons around the next "family values" candidate. In their view killing thousands of Iraqis is a "family value."

So far, his best talent is that ability to pick his nose and break wind without injuring himself, though he offends all who see this. But, his dad has paid the lease for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C. up until December 2007. Unless we the landlords band together to evict him, he's going to only get worse. I think it's high time to consider moving up the date for that meeting for evicition. Clinton just lied about getting his wick waxed. This dimwit's lies have damaged the nation irreparably for generations to come. I beleive that constitutes a lease breaker right there. Hey, gotta go, gotta go, GOTTA GO!

anger, shame, and disappointment aside, may i recommend a national day of reading: just one book on the list, The Emperor's New Clothes ...an irrefutable classic that perhaps might offer us a quiet lesson.

oprah, jon stewart, pbs, each can host a "book talk" show. it's funny, but i'm also sadly serious.

how many of us have been feeling like that boy on the parade route for years?

though a consultant now, i've taught literature grades K-12 and at the university level...there's something remarkable that happens when you read a book together and then shift the conversation to how it affects our present moment.

i will donate my facilitation services.

What does it say about all the Americans who voted for George W. Bush? I was just looking at the radio ratings for Los Angeles this morning. KFI with its morning and afternoon idiot talk hosts is number one. Everyone on the air there, including Dr. Laura and Rush Limbaugh are right wing blather monkeys. KABC is also on the top 20 list. More right wing blather. Most of the rest are FM music stations. Missing entirely are stations that offer thoughtful talk and news analysis like KTLK (Air America) and KPFK (Pacifica) or even any of the NPR stations.

Whenever I stop at a gas station or at a traffic light, I hear mostly loud rap or or some such noise coming from the loud speaker in the car or SUV next to me. People are not paying attention. They are just listening to mindless crap.

And these people vote. They vote for morons like Bush.

What does that say about how well informed american voters are about what is really happening?

I have news for you. Bill O'Rielly, Rush Limberger, Karl Satan Rove, Evil Dick Cheney, Donny Boy Rummyfield and bushite lite are not truthful sources.

We got what we deserved as a nation, a pile of evil crap. But people have finally wised up, in fact only 30% of ill informed Americans now approve of the global embarrassment that now occupies our national governing leadership . So try and make it a democrat problem if you wish, but its not a democrat or progressive problem -- they did not vote for him, it's an american problem.

When you are willing to settle for lying crap, that is what you get. So I would say, Bush won twice, what does that say about the minority of voters who voted for him?

That George W. Bush is an imbecile was known to anyone who watched the first presidential debate between him and Al Gore in which he uttered the sophomoric phrase "it's fuzzy math". It has been known that he is a man of limited knowledge, ability and intellect. He reads very little and consequently is conversationally challenged due to a wholely inadequate vocabulary. It doesn't matter - he still got elected.

If people are still incredulous about his intellectual abilities six and a half years later, they must learn to "let it go". We know he's stupid, but it doesn't matter. Several members of congress are at least as stupid, but it doesn't matter. In a country in which half the population (150 million) believe in the literal word of the christian bible and would rather vote for an "American Idol" than a president, there will always be stupid people in office making stupid comments and dangerous policy. Imbeciles are part of the electorate too.

Instead of getting mad at what can't be changed, intellectuals need to put efforts into gaining control of the imbecilic portion of the electorate. You have to win the game. Simple people require simple rhetoric and simple methods to control them. Simple buzzwords and simple symbols are all it takes to win them over - like pigs in a pen running for their slop, just give them what they want. And make sure they're hearing it from someone who looks good and has a nice voice. All you need is the right actor for the part.

Remember, you don't play rock for a country and western audience. Give the people what they want to hear. It's really quite simple. It doesn't even require telling them the truth. Tell them anything, really, as long as they understand and like it. Keep it short and above all, keep it simple. On the national stage, be as vague as possible, and locally give them whatever they want - but wherever you are, make them like you as a person. You have to win the game.

You can't do anything if you don't win the game...

The administration has upset the Middle East, made everyone forget about Afghanistan, ignored Darfur, broken up the biggest Democratic stronghold in the U.S. South, convinced people we have to fight the war on terror, stolen two elections, turned our most valuable resources over to his corporate friends, and generally succeded in every viscious plot that could come out of a heartless cabal. Somehow, trying to convince people this is stupid or that Bush is an imbecile doesn't ring true. He doesn't have our values -- and his values are taking the fore. I don't know when he gave up on being a human being, but he's certainly made a go of it.

Start the campaign now. Keep it simple. Find a slogan. Be offensive.
My suggestion. HAD ENOUGH YET? Include a short snippet of truth preceded by
“Since G W Bush & the GOP took control of the federal government”

Such-&-such, e.g. "In 2004, Real income of the richest 1% of Americans rose 12.5%
In 2004, Real income of the bottom 99% (the rest of us) rose 1.5%
THE RICHEST 1% GOT OVER 10 TIMES MORE IN 2004 THAN THE REST OF US.

HAD ENOUGH YET?

Does the snippet need precision to be exactly true? Require explanation? Who cares? Let the GOP make the arguments and explanations. It will take them pages, which no one will read.

Every day, every hour, a new snippet.

HAD ENOUGH YET?
Since G W Bush and the GOP took control of the federal government
OVER 2000 AMERICAN MEN AND WOMEN HAVE DIED IN AN ILLEGAL WAR IN IRAQ

HAD ENOUGH YET?

Change the venue.
HAD ENOUGH YET?
Since G W Bush and the GOP took control of the federal government

Favorable opinions of the US among our European allies has fallen to 50% or less, even among our former STRONGEST allies

HAD ENOUGH YET?

Eventually, all that will be needed will be bumper stickers with the words: HAD ENOUGH YET?

Keep it short. Keep it simple. Keep it within the boundaries of truth. Keep your cool.

HAD ENOUGH YET?

“Bush Gropes Germany's Merkel”

Pres. Bush often and regularly backslaps, touches, infringes on the personal sphere and otherwise behaves unconventionally intimate with other politicians and political leaders. Just watch news-clips carefully, whenever Bush enters or exits. Like when he winks at Putin in an idle moment during the St. Petersburg G8-meeting and mouths "How d'ye do?". This jovial condescencion in breach of conventional body-languge and etiquette is one of his obvious domination techniques.

Chimps share 98 % of human DNA (humans between ourselves 99.9 %), and it's often instructive to watch them to understand ourselves and behaviour we've sublimated. Got this off primates.com, on the "Common chimpanzee" and their "Tactile communication", the three entries relating to domination:

reaching and touching: This is where an individual will touch with the hand the head, back, or rump of another (Estes, 1991). This acts as a submissive or appeasement gesture or a reassurance gesture as a response to social presenting (Estes, 1991).

patting: This functions as a reassurance gesture to a distressed subordinate and is done by a more dominant individual (Estes, 1991); the individual softly touches the receiver on a part of the body.

reassurance mounting: This is where a dominant individual mounts a subordinate and is a response to social presenting (Estes, 1991).

I put it to you that Bush's infringements on others' personal sphere is putting these others in subordinate roles while being reassured. In other words: under Bush's domination.

Physical coding is stronger than verbal coding, and remains in force, spilling over into verbal negiotiations. This way Bush starts off any exchange with an advantage of domination, not only militarily as leader of ca half the military budget and arsenal of the globe, but also on the interpersonal level.

Ok, so we have known for years now that Bush is an imbecile. And Bush is not the one making the real decisions. It's Cheney, and a cabal of rich Republicans who are pulling the strings of the world right now. They groomed and elected "W" BECAUSE he is an imbecile.

We can rail at Bush's idiocy. Or we can start focusing on the real problem people, and that's Cheney, for starters.

In "Lord of the Rings" terms, Bush is Saruman, the second and lesser of the dark lords. Cheney is Sauron, the baddest most evil dude of them all.

Let's focus on the real source of problems. By focusing on Bush's idiocy, rather than the real powers behind the throne, we play into their hands.

Intelligence is not just measured by who knows state capitals. I would make the argument that the man who figures out how to get what he wants is smartest of all. Both Kerry and Gore made sure to let America know they were 'smarter' than Bush. And he beat them both. (Even if you think the elections were stolen which I totally do, you have to account for an awful lot of people finding Bush more 'likeable' than either of them.) More importantly and to the point, you have to account for the utter disdain that so many americans had for the fact that both candidates were more intelligent(intelligent by your definition of course.) This is the tricky part, Bush and Rove, in the most cynical, calculating way, figured out long ago that the guy who appears dumber is the winner. Which, in my opinion, makes them smarter. And don't try to tell me that both Kerry and Gore weren't totally lambasted for being eggheads.

Nobody is listening to President George Bush. He continues to assert that God wants all people to be liberated (to live in freedom) and he is going to liberate them (by doing God's work.)

Not one credible institution has ever challenged the President - not one!

Yes, Bush is indeed an idiot. We know it, the near east, middle east, far east, they all know it too. But consider what Jim Lobe (Washington bureau chief for Inter Press Service) wrote on TomPain.com today in Beirut To Tehran:

"The week-old Israeli-Hezbollah conflict is likely to boost the chances of U.S. military action against Iran, according to a number of regional experts who see a broad consensus among the U.S. political elite that the ongoing hostilities are part of a broader offensive being waged by Tehran against Washington across the region.

...Indeed, almost as if to prove the point, the U.S. Senate voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a resolution that not only endorsed Israel's military actions in Gaza and Lebanon without calling on it to exercise any restraint, but also urged U.S. President George W. Bush to impose across-the-board diplomatic and economic sanctions on Tehran and Damascus. The House was expected to pass a similar resolution Wednesday."

So we see, my friends, it takes a village the size of Congress to enable, nay, ennoble the idiot who occupies the House of White.

Some of you are a bit too generous I believe in trying to point out Bushes assumption of the presidency in 2000. Al Gore won the popular vote, remember? Remember also, that brother Jebby had the voter roles here in Florida, "scrubbed" in 2000. Getting all those "ex-felons" off the list was a big deal you know, even if a few thousand of them turned out to not really be felons but just African-Americans. And, in 2004, what happened in Ohio?

SCOTT RITTER STATED THAT IRAN IS USING NUCLEAR MATERIAL FOR PEACEFUL USE ONLY. But all of the STUPIDS listen to the idiot ,Bush and want to follow his insanity. And why did Al Gore relinquish his 2000 win? I BELIEVE HIS LIFE WAS THREATENED! And John Kerry was winning by exit polls before the neo-coms altered the votes TO CONTRADICT THE POTENTIAL WIN OF KERRY. If I knew it, shouldn't Kerry have known? EVIL PREVAILS IN THIS COUNTRY.

Saudi on 9 11 planes, was a set up to get our under manned military, in the middle east. Big Bombs as in Vietnam did no good , Iran takes Isarel soldiers, to upset Isarel, again, big bombs as expected , and as in Vietnam they are doing no good, we're deep in it now. The trap is working. The enemy learned how to fight the big bombs, in Vietnam. We kill hundreds on innocent people, just like in Vietnam , They ll get tired of the mess and say get out, "we're better off with out you." The SET UP worked, the enemy wins, just like in Vietnam. What a foolish non combat administration. The low and middle income men on the ground have been betrayed again, where's the training? Who's going to replace them. Draft your nearest Rich Republican, its there turn to fight for freedom. BS. Frank VN Vet

It is indeed amazing that the articles on alternet that seem to bring the Rove Boilerbrats out in droves are the ones that directly attack Bush.

Not the ones about religion; not the ones about politics; not even the ones about Israel and their new war.

No, it seems the only sole concern of the Rove Boilerbrats is convincing the world that there still is a vast 30% (highly unlikely) of the American public that believe in "their" President.

These are the stories that bore me the most, as do the petty squabbles, because the man is, after all, an undisputable moron puppet who only believes he actually is the President. My God, how far must Cheney, Rumsfeld, and even Poppy41 have to distance themselves from him to grant him that illusion.

And to what lengths Rove has to go (and there is no perfect example than these posts and these threads) to make the few small handful of real Bush supporters out there think they're not hopelessly alone.

It's really beyond pathetic actually; it almost makes one feel sad for all the loneliness a real Bush supporter must feel, seeing their illusions peeled away layer by layer, and the empty small tiny ugliness that exists at the core, the tiny black cinder where they always thought lay a beautiful, perfect diamond.

im sad tyo see the american public with so much hate, violence and mismanaged contempt. ive traveled the world and still feel america is the best place to live, with all our grocery stores and sports, rock concerts and free speech allowed. when i was in the carribean i went to a grocery store and was shocked to find the ill stocked shelves and really appreciated all american grocery stiores when i returned home among other things. what is maligning america is the inner turmoil of its citizens and not the constructive observation of inteligent citizens who need anger management classes for all their frustration and vile.does ones view venture on the nilist profile , do we throwe out the dirty water and the baby , are we cittizens of our own trojan horse or are we good americans who look at the big picture and venture in positive comments filled with constructive statements and make suggestions as to improving things we dont like.i believe we live in a fairly warm and genuinely fair country where are beliefs are next to none and thats why we have immigration problems and those of you bellyachers who think this place stinks perhaps need to go to africa or russia or easten europe and than come back with a different attitude.. my thoughts on this matter are truly selfish and that i wish america could become more understanding instead of a street gang mentality and make concrete suggestions to help the president in his hard most difficult job. i would like to know how you america would do as the president while everyone is yelling and screaming and going balistic. i dont believe it would be an easy task for you either and so please dont dissapoint america and join in and please be more kinder and understanding and make positive statements . thankyou and i was born in europe for your information

This article strikes me as similar to last week's article 'The 9/11 Faith Movement' which was a complete pile of Orwellian crap intended to discourage anyone from questioning the official version of the events of Sept. 11 with the same yardstick as would be applied to any crime, by a prosecutor or investigator. More Orwellian crap coming from Alternet. I'm beginning to get a bit upset with Alternet's lack of testicular fortitude.

It makes no difference to me whether GWB is an idiot, or isn't. Personally I think that 'evil' is ignorant by nature. If evil people really knew what had value on this earth they wouldn't be 'evil'.

That aside, I suspect that GWB is less stupid than he appears because I think it is a given that the public persona of Presidents of the U.S.A. has been carefully crafted for them. I also believe that this government has had so many coincidental 'accidents' for which noone has ever been held accountable or punished that the 'coincidence' thing is becoming a bit strained. I think that any public servant would rather be called stupid than a traitor.

Now, as to the question about whether he's the #1 man in some "Dr. Evil" circle - certainly not. I don't believe that the criminal enterprise which has taken over the United States Government is run by its front man. I also don't believe that this front man is quite as stupid as he lets on.

A little research into what GWB was actually doing during his 'AWOL' years has convinced me that his persona as a dumbass is (mostly) artificial. I compare him to someone I once worked with years ago. This person played the 'simple, gentle giant', and it worked for him. Many people were convinced that he was sort of dumb, kind of a nice fellow, etc. I had the privilege of knowing him when he'd let his facade slip, and I knew he was much more shrewd than he let on, and he loved to play that game. The problem was that he was smarter than most people thought he was, but he was certainly not as smart as he thought he was. I think GWB is more intelligent than people think, but not nearly as intelligent as GWB thinks. I also think he is a traitor, as well as a sock puppet of traitors who own him.

Yes, It is a fact beyond doubt that Bush is ignorant. However, there is more to it than simple ignorance. Add to the mixture arrogance, and we have a lethal combination. Add to it again active alcoholism, and it is detrimental to the health of anyone within his reach. Georgie may not be drinking (this is up for scrutiny), but he is active in his alcoholic thinking and behavior: rigid, compulsive, dualistic thinking, grandiosity, narsiscism (self-serving), lying, out of control and can't stop himself. What does that say about the people who surround him? Co-dependents. All of the people of this administration need to go to a 12 step program and get out of denial. This nation is in big trouble until we impeach him and clean out the baggage with him.

Cheney! Well, that's another case. He is simply "sick" and could be diagnosed as sociopathic.

Yea OK. A flatworm has more functioning brain cells than the man in the White House. So what. This is not news. And it distracts us from the work that needs to be done.

Bush's ignorance didn't leave the people of the Gulf Coast up shit creek without a paddle. The idea that no government is the best government did. The idea that government "service" is the means to pay back your friends, cronies and supporters did. The idea that there's no such thing as a productive tax leaves the infrastructure of the entire country in serious disrepair. The idea that large private bureaucracies are inherently superior to large public bureaucracies heaps shame and disrespect on public servants, and discourages young people from getting involved in it.

Attacking these ideas, the ideas on which the neoCON revolution is based, is a lot harder to do than slamming the dumbest man ever to inhabit the white house. And in the long run, a lot more productive.

When I saw the title of this article, I expected an expose, what I got was eyewash.
Every word the President of the United States says is analyzed and dissected. The 364 previous comments are testimony to this.
Bush has to be very careful about what he says and he has to make some sort of human contact with the other leaders.
If he makes comments about the time it takes to get home from the summit and uses it to bond the big powers together so what?
In dealing with powerful people, so much is atmospherics and chemistry, there is no comment in the article about that.
After six years in power, Bush still is not a pariah among the powerful.
The man has certain talents and strengths, this tape may well have given us a picture of one of them, an ability to make a personal connection with other power brokers without giving away anything of his own position.
We must stop misunderestimating Bush.

Shrub is supposed to be a history major. Here's a 2000 year old phrase, When in Rome do as the Romans do. Some people are saying that Shrub is just acting like people in Texass do and that is part of his "charm". Apparently, these idiots are from Texass too. He has no charm at all. Rather than "reveals", which could imply that somehow no one had noticed up till now, "additional, irrefutable evidence" would have been more appropriate. The clown in chief has a long history of moronic behavior and speech, generously described by a fawning press as "humor" and "malapropisms". What this latest uncensored episode "reveals" is not that man has the intellect of an onion, which should have been obvious long ago, but that Cheney has so little regard for the opinion of the world's leaders that he would turn him loose without a minder.

I picked up a World Atlas (Rand-McNally, I think) from 1972.

Most of the country descriptions were neutral, focusing on demographics and exports, and some barely mentioned politics at all.

In the case of Israel, much was made of how the Jewish people did SO much good in their new country, making it over from a desert and growing the economy; the fact that they were a democracy similar to the US was pointed out.

It was strikingly different in tone from the other country descriptions, and I read at least a dozen.

This "imbecile" has run rings around the Left for 5.5 years.

STUPID POLITICAL OPINIONS pt 1

1. Drug addiction is a disease that should be treated with compassion and understanding...unless the addict is a Conservative talk show host.

2. The United States should be subservient to the United Nations. Our highest authority is not God and the U.S. Constitution, but a collective of tinpot dictators (and their appeasers) and the U.N. charter.

3. Government should relax drug laws regardless of the potential for abuse, but should pass new and unConstitutional anti-gun laws because of the potential for abuse.

4. Calls for increased security after a terrorist attack are "political opportunism," but calls for more gun control after a criminal's spree killing is "a logical solution."

5. "It Takes a Village" means everything you want it to mean...except creeping socialist government involvement in the nuclear family.

6. Disarming innocent, law-abiding citizens helps protect them from evil, lawless terrorists and other thugs.

7. Slowly killing an unborn innocent by tearing it apart limb from limb is good. Slowly killing an innocent disabled woman by starving her to death is good. Quickly killing terrorists, convicted murderers and rapists is BAD.

8. Every religion should be respected and promoted in public schools the name of diversity, so long as that religion isn't Christianity.

9. The best way to support our troops is to criticize their every move. This will let them know they're thought of often.

10. Sexual harassment, groping and drug use are degenerate if you're the governor of California, but it's okay if you're the President of the United States.

11. Sex education should be required so that teens can make informed choices about sex, but gun education should be banned because it will turn those same teens into maniacal mass-murderers.

12. Minorities are blameless for the hatred of the racist; women are blameless for the hatred of the rapist; but America is entirely at fault for the hatred of Islamofascists.

1. Drug addicts are worthless scum trying to prey on your kids, drug addiction should be dealt with by severe punishment, throw away the key, ...unless the addict is a Conservative talk show host.

2. The United States is the only country in the world that is any good, it is the bestest, bestest nation, as showed by our universal health care for all, our superb education system and our elections and political system that is free of rigging, bribery and influence and is the envy of the world. We should hate the United Nations and its evil, powerful black helicopters, and especially countries like the French and Europe that has no freedom and is run by communists. Our highest authority is God not the U.S. Constitution, but a collective of tinpot evangelist preachers who know God personally (and their appeasers) and who should be in charge instead of the horrible Godless liberals who run Hollywood, our Media and all branches of our government.

3. Government should have draconian drug laws so that petty pot users spend their lives in jail, while idiots who kill others carelessly cleaning their guns or letting their Columbine kids keep an arsenal should pass new and unConstitutional pro-gun laws because of the impossibility of safegaurding our 2nd Amendment Rights from liberals who want GWBush to take all our guns and submit to Big Brother Government.

4. Calls for reducing freedom, spying on all Americans, searches without warrants, detention without trial, and torture without human rights of anyone the President deems a threat to his political survival after a terrorist attack are "a logical solution," but calls for more gun control after a criminal's spree killing is "political opportunism."

5. "The Ownership Society" means everything you want it to mean...except creeping totalitarian , government involvement in the nuclear family, your bedroom, your medicine cabinet, your computer, your bank account info and your wallet, all owned by the owners of the government, the few owners of the largest amount of capital.

6. Disarming innocent, law-abiding citizens helps protect them from evil, lawless terrorists and other thugs like George W. Bush and his Neocons.

7. Slowly killing innocent random people swept up on the streets of various countries and calling them terrorists and never processing their cases is good. Slowly killing an innocent disabled woman by not allowing research on stem cells is good. Killing children by expirementing on them with pesticides in government study programs is good. Quickly killing sperm before it reaches the egg with Plan B is BAD. Unborn fetus good, suffering human child or adult, bad.

8. Every religion should not be respected unless that religion is called evangelical Christianity. That religion should be promoted in tax payer's secular public schools in the name of diversity, so that our country's doctrine of separation of church and state is destroyed, because there is one true religion and the schools should be full of it instead of educating our children.

9. The best way to support our troops is to blame them when the Glorious Plans of our Leader repeatedly fail. Our troops are well supported when they don't get the armor, the tanks and the equipment, and the best war plans they need. Having private company hired troops and payoffs to Haliburton and KBR for military support services will let them know they're thought of often and well taken care of.

10. Sexual harassment, groping and drug use are degenerate if you're the governor of California, but it's okay if you're the President of the United States.

13. Poverty is the cause of all terrorism...which is why the leaders of al Qaeda are typically U.S.-educated and were raised in wealth and luxury, from rich oil owning families in totalitarian countries like Saudi Arabia protected by the US and with strange connections to the CIA.

14. The Patriot Act -good, nothing to see here, move along. FDR, bad, a horrible monster.

15. We should unquestioningly honor the wishes of our Neocon Leaders, even when everything they do turns to s---. As for our old allies and everbody else around the nation or world with a bit of experiential wisdom to offer, they can go to hell, because our wise leaders no better, and Our Decider has Decided who acts like our allies and who are our enemies.

16. Universal health care is evil, it is (gasp) 'socialist'. Don't even think of it. Nevermind all those people who spend every dime they have to go to Canada to get drugs they can afford and who retire in foreign countries so they can get affordable quality medical care... and all the people who die and have chronic illnesses they can't treat because they can't afford the doctors or medication in the richest nation in the world.

17. Michael Moore, Noam Chomsky and Natalie Maines are bad people. Don't listen to them and other people on the smearblacklist. Nice, caring people who have done a lot of objective research like Anne Coulter and the Swift Boaters, and whoever Karl Rove talks to are more perfectly qualified to criticize our leadership.

18. Junk science produced by people who I agree with philosophically is good, but real scientific standards no matter what conclusions they reach, especially if they are nuanced are too complex and multifaceted to meet the ideological requirements to make America a really great nation, and should be destroyed immediately.

19. Bush's toppling the Saddam regime was not a "diversion" from hunting down Osama, but Clinton's lobbing a couple of cruise missiles at Iraq in the thick of the Lewinsky sex scandal is a huge crime compared to a five year, world destabilizing, quagmire.

20. A president who lies about sex in a legal entrapment case by his political enemits deserves impeachment, but a president who reveals a CIA agent to the press to retaliate against her husband's unfavorable research, who steals elections, and detains and tortures citizens never convicted of a crime deserves to be enshrined on Mount Rushmore to make up for his being a victim of his powerful critics.

21. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning Second Amendment rights and shopping the courts for judges sympathetic to causes that wouldn't pass in any legislature. That would make such judges "Strict Constructionists" who follow the dictates of one 'Federalist Neocon' faction within one political party.

22. "The People" in the Constitution means big corporations, Republicans, and mean people who own guns, pit bulls, and Hummers. What are you looking at?

23. You can't support a woman's "right to choose" to kill her unborn child when her health or life is at stake because a fetus is better than she is, and pretend that you don't know that that same woman homeschooling the children she bears will raise a bunch of uneducated morons with no knowledge of basic info in the public school curriculum who will vote for whatever you manipulate them into voting for as long as you call it 'Christian'.

24. Proven draft-dodging of a national tragic quagmire proves a President who gave us peace and prosperity is evil, but true claims of AWOL status while going into rehab about a Glorious Emperor is a story that should be squashed by smearing those who investigate it.
