On June 6, Jim Bronke of Concord, Penn., addressed the Concord Township board of supervisors:

Township supervisors and friends, I come here today not as a Republican or as a Democrat but as an American citizen concerned for our way of life. I hope that you can view this package not as a political statement but as a plan for the future … Rules of the House of Representatives explicitly allow state and city legislatures to introduce resolutions. Our First Amendment guarantees any citizen, city, or state "to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." This is what I ask you to do with this motion.
Bronke requested that the board consider a motion to request an impeachment inquiry of the president of the United States. When a board supervisor told Bronke that the only path to impeachment was through U.S. senators and representatives, Bronke corrected the supervisor, stating that "there are multiple paths toward impeachment, this is another."

Bronke was absolutely right.

The Concord board is hardly national news. But taken in conjunction with the staggering number of state legislatures and city and town councils across the country that have passed impeachment resolutions, the lack of coverage of the movement is a conspicuous absence in mainstream media.

Illinois, Vermont and California state legislatures have impeachment resolutions pending. The Democratic parties of Vermont, New Hampshire, Alaska, Maine, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, California and Hawaii have all passed resolutions. Then there are the 18 city and town councils that have passed resolutions, with seven more resolutions (including Concord) pending, to say nothing of the 27 local political groups and parties across the country that have adopted impeachment resolutions.

The broad sweep is not surprising as the evidence is well-documented: President George W. Bush lied to Congress and the American people in order to lead the country into war, and continues to conduct illegal wiretaps, sanction torture and violate the separation of powers by picking and choosing congressional legislation.

Despite the clear case, impeachment has become a taboo word in D.C. politics. A chasm has emerged between high-level politicians too afraid to push for accountability, the media that seeks the "news" that comes from these politicians and their circles, and the American public they are supposed to be serving.

In a recent Zogby poll, Americans were asked what would restore their trust in government and the No. 1 reply was "personnel changes/impeachment." As David Swanson of impeachpac.org notes, polls by Ipsos, Zogby and American Research Group have found support between 43 percent and 53 percent. And if it's Democrats, the numbers shoot up to 80-90 percent, with a consistent majority of Independents supporting impeachment.

Swanson says, "For impeachment to have anything close to majority support despite opposition by both political parties and almost no positive coverage in the media is remarkable."

Dennis Loy Johnson of Melville House Publishing is intimately familiar with the divide between Americans and the political representatives and media who are supposed to represent them. Johnson worked with lawyers from the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) to create the book Articles of Impeachment Against George W. Bush -- a concise reader that makes the legal case for impeachment. Says Johnson, "We've had more than one friendly mainstream journalist tell us they pitched a story to their editor and were told, 'Don't even go there.'"

Despite the media blackout, people from every state in the union have participated in the Melville House campaign, sending copies of the book to their representatives. Johnson notes that they have heard from groups as varied as Veterans for Peace, Goldstar Families and Republicans for Impeachment. "A lot of people were paying more attention in civics class than you think," he quips.

Teaming up again, Melville House and CCR have arranged a National Impeachment Teach-In launching on July 19 with events around the country. Centered on a 30-minute DVD, "How to Impeach a President," materials are being made available online, providing the information and tools to reclaim political power. It's telling that the constitutional lawyers at CCR are appealing to the public -- attesting to the fact that holding this administration legally accountable will not happen without public support.

As CCR lawyer Michael Ratner says in the film, "This is not going to happen in a court. It's going to happen when the people of the United States say to their members of Congress, we've had enough."

But what of the political likelihood? Johnson thinks it's a "winnable fight." He says,
This is not about party politics. It's about the very real damage being done to the constitutional separation of powers by this administration. This is a grassroots movement that represents American democracy at its best -- people from all walks of life trying to work with their government to enact the corrective measures put into the Constitution by the founding fathers for exactly this purpose.

what we have, and it is absolute and unstoppable power, is Write-In votes unified for IMPEACH Representatives who WE choose, in each of our Congressional Districts, and move political traps aside and go around Democrat Party, and Republican Party, and their rigged ballot machinery.

What to DO ??!!! Word of mouth. Pass it on. Write-In Congress

'What to do?,' is being asked by so many disaffected Democrats and dawned-on Republicans.

Here's what: Get to work at IMPEACHment.

He has lied, destroyed and continue to destroy our hopes, dreams, values and more. We must impeach this idiot for the sake of mankind. Bush has been nothing but a complete failure and embarrassment to the United States of America. He's started a war and cost millions of people their lives all because of a LIE. All because of greed and power. It's time for a change, it's time for a revolution.

The arguments for impeachment of this administration are so overwhelming, it boggles the mind to explain to anyone outside this country why we have not begun a concerted effort to remove Bush long before now. Far worse harm has been done to our country than by a few guys wielding boxcutters, or by an impoverished people in a distant nation that had nothing whatsoever to do with 9-11. Bush has violated our Constitution so many times the freedoms he claims to be protecting for us have been curtailed - in short, he and his minions are practicing a form of terrorism against us and our country. Mass media and conservative Republicans have ignored the fact that if a president can be impeached over a few acts of marital infidelity, a "president" like Bush must be thrown out on his ear over countless hundreds of violations of the law that have done nothing to protect us from terrorism!

How to impeach?

How do we impeach a president? How can I get my local township involved? What if my elected representative ignores a majority of his constituents? Can we impeach our representative? What about Senators?

Most Americans don't even know when to vote for their senators or representatives.. I'd say it is part of the problem.

The people want to impeach but most politicians don't want to impeach. Come November, vote only for the politicians who are open to doing impeachment. The others don't know how to properly represent their constituants.

It is not just about one man. Bush and his administration reflect a dominant aspect of what this country has become. It is not enough to impeach if the fundamental course of our country is not changed by supporting policies that care for the quality of life for all the citizens who live in America. Also we need to become better at judging character and not idol worship as promoted by the media. In other words if impeaching Bush leads to our refocus on reality and less on illusion, dogma and narcisissm I am for it.

I probably won't have a decent night's sleep until this hideous piece of shit (I refer to George W. Bush, in case you were wondering) and his entire cabinet are out of power and rotting in federal prison. Dick Cheney will more-than-likely avoid the same fate. That fatal heart attack we've beeen counting on for all these years has GOT to come any day now.

Awww! That's a cruel thing to say about the vice-president? Look around you, OK? What's one more body? That dirty little motherfucker is responsible for more carnage than Zar Cawi and bin Ladin combined!

Please.

Shouldn't we use our money and resources to make sure that the stranglehold the repukes have on our government is loosened in November? If bush is ousted we are still stuck with the filth he has bred in DC. If the Dems can win the house or senate we can better hamstring this asshole. I would personally love to see him brought up on charges by a war crimes tribunal and have him and his crime family humiliated in front of the whole world.

I know I officially have no say since I'm not a citizen of the US (Canadian), but I really want to help, just to raise awareness maybe. It's a complete joke that this gets no coverage in the media! America is about 2 baby steps away from a dictatorship if you ask me. I think the main obstacle to impeachment is simply that people don't know that it's possible! Is there a way I can get involved even a little bit? I am not just afraid for the state of the world, I geniunely think it's a tragedy what's happening in America. I know a lot of good people in the states, and they shouldn't have to pay for the stupidity of the right and the overall ridiculousness of this administration. Thanks

The Iraq Vichy

There is an interesting historical parallel between the Nazi occupation of France and the American occupation of Iraq. The Vichy government was installed by an occupation just as the Iraq government was. Hitler did not call for any elections in France because at that time election fraud had not become a science. Unlike Hitler: Bush who had stolen two elections in the United States did not fear the electoral process. The Iraqis who turned out to vote did not even know who they were voting for. The Vichy government in France initiated a civil war just as the faux Iraq government has. This is why Iraqis are killing Iraqis. The idea that civil war in Iraq is caused by religious differences between the Sunni and the Shiites is false propaganda used to justify continuing the American occupation. The Iraqi girl blogger said: “Just go and take your Chalabi’s and traitors with you.”

There are other similarities that have the stink of fascism. There is no difference at all between Hitler’s “blitzkrieg” on Poland or the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and what Bush proudly named “shock and awe”. They were all unprovoked attacks on unprepared civilian populations by war criminals. The deliberate use of torture and “rendition” and the atrocities of killing women and children all fit the fascist plan. The open violation of human rights by the holding of 300 prisoners on Guantanamo just off the coast of Florida without a trial should horrify any decent American. The clear statement by General Miller after being sent to Iraq that he was going to “Gitmoize the Iraqi prisons would have had him sitting in the dock at the Nuremberg trials.

Why are Americans tolerating this abomination? Are they like the Germans who claimed they did not know about the gas ovens? Why are American Jews accepting another holocaust for their cousins the Arabs? Have they forgotten the lesson of Germany and Pastor Neimoller who said, “When Hitler attacked the Jews I was not a Jew, therefore I was not concerned, when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and therefore I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the unions, and the industrialists, I was not a member of the unions, and I was not concerned. When Hitler attacked me and the Protestant Church--there was nobody left to be concerned.”

How to impeach Bush

Step 1.
Convene a town meeting where fellow dreamers gather to bitch, complain and bemoan the fate of their suddenly "precious" children under this administration. Of course those children didn't matter the first or even second time some of these fucking idiots voted for Dumya.

Step 2.
Put together some sophomoric declaration and vote unanimously to "impeach" the SOB!! YEAH TEAM!!

Step 3.
Submit the petition or declaration to your corrupt, lying, bought and paid for piece of shit congressmen who probably has his nose so far up Big Defense's ass that he can smell what they had for lunch.

Step 4.
Watch the MSM give it minimal attention while secretely laughing at your sincere albeit highly, highly improbable efforts. Remember how the MSM and Bushco massage one another - do you really think this cozy marriage of conveniencve and power is going to break-up? Not hardly.

Step 5.
Watch the whole thing stall out while Bushco plugs along enriching the power-elite for another 2 years at the end of which time he will have satisfactorily created a puppet within the Democratic party to carry on the Bush Doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction for all!!!!

Someone made an excellent point: IMPEACHMENT is a taboo subject in the media. What needs doing is for all of us to start a constant bombardment of the editors of the main newspapers, and the main anchors of shows like MEET THE PRESS, THIS WEEK, etc., and keep saying TALK ABOUT IMPEACHMENT! WHY ARE YOU DODGING THE ISSUE?

Yeah, Bush will be impeached! And I'm going to win the lottery and I don't even buy tickets. You're whistlin' dixie if you think the whores in this most corrupt congress will even think about impeachment. How did we arrive at this sad state of affairs. One reason, of course, is the mass media. As Gore Vidal said recently, "This is what happens when you have control of the media, and I have never known the media more vicious, stupid and corrupt than they are now."
He also said we are in a totally militarized dictatorship. A society that spends over 50% of its discretionary budget on the military is a sick society indeed.

BUMPER STICKERS

I can't think of a faster or better way to mobilize public opinion than bumper stickers. I know it sounds too simple, but there is just no better way I know of.

When people go out and see others with bumper stickers, even if they only see a couple, they get the impression that this is what people are thinking. We see those yellow ribbon stickers all the time.

I have bumper stickers plastered all over my car that read:

IMPEACH BUSH

and

9//11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB/OUR NATION IS IN DANGER

People seem happy to see them, as though they are glad to know they aren't the only ones to think that way.

Unfortunately, people are afraid to speak up so pointedly, but if we realize that Zogby polled America and found half of the people polled think 9/11 WAS INDEED AN INSIDE JOB, and that 70 percent of Americans think the 9/11 "investigation" was a coverup --

Well, there's no NEED to be afraid.

I say get some bumper stickers.

AlterNet has a link to some but I don't know if any of them mention 9/11.

Here's a site that's got great bumper stickers, really cheap (only 65 cents apiece if you order 100 or more).

CLICK HERE FOR GREAT 9/11/IMPEACH BUSH BUMPER STICKERS

When public opinion is mobilized, everythign else will take care of itself, IMO. Public opinion is for an impeachment, but we all just need to know that. Bumper stickers will do that!

No, I'm not making any money from these sales of bumper stickers. In fact, this site is a left-wing site, and I'm a flaming Conservative.

I'm a bumper sticker person. I just think they work great. They are cheap and they do get read. You can reach literally thousands of people. They will read your sticker and then look you over and your car.

If there's a crowd of people in the car behind you, you can watch them point and start laughing and talking and getting all animated.

Like the group of men on motorcycles that pulled up behind my car last time I was out, and they were all nodding and pointing.

Don't be afraid. Do it!

I'm frustrated. I'm so frustrated that I throw my arms up each day feeling completely let down by the Democratic leadership in both House and Senate. Senator Feingold has been the only one to show some guts by submitting a Censor resolution. But even so. That falls short of impeachment proceedings. Why is the press so quiet??? Why aren't there more papers demanding the resignation of George W. Bush??? At least Harpers Magazine showed some GUTS and devoted an entire issue to making the case for Bush's impeachment. What other magazine or newspaper has done this???

Please, someone get in contact with me and tell me what can I do??? I live in San Francisco and my congressional representative is Nancy Pelosi. She doesn't have the GUTS to take in impeachment. She's a WIMP. She doesn't even fit the definition of LEADERSHIP. She has no BALLS!

Boxer nor Feinstein have jumped on the Bush impeachment bandwagon. I don't know what to do!!!!! Please help!!!!!

A Presidential Executive Order whether Constitutional or not, becomes law simply by its publication in the Federal Registry and Congress is by passed.
There is hundreds of these orders giving the President dictator rule not to mention the passage of the National Security Act that our Congress Passed.
Here are just a few:
Executive Order 10995- allows the government to seize and control the communications and media:
Executive Order 10997- allows the government to take control of all electrical power, gas, petrolem, fuels and minerals:
Executive Order 10998- Allows the government to control all food and water, and farms:
Executive Order 11000- allows the government to mobilize all civilians into work brigades under government supervision:
And many more that allow the President and other government departments to run this country like Hitler, did.
There is already a bill to bring back the draft for all 18-42 yearolds including women.
So you see NO way will anyone be able to Impeach anyone, all they have to do is declar an EMERGENCY and our rights, liberty's, and GUNS are gone.

Far better than an American version of the French Revolution would be IMPEACHMENT! What people apparently do not understand is that the "current" hijacking of American wealth and power can be booted permanently from the American landscape: IMPEACHING PRESIDENT BUSH AND HIS CABAL WILL DEMONSTRATE CLEARLY TO A WORLD IN DIRE NEED THAT THERE IS A DEMOCRACY IN THE WORLD WILLING TO STAND UP FOR JUSTICE EVEN IN THE FACE OF TRILLION-DOLLAR POWER... WE MUST IMPEACH, IMPEACHMENT IS THE ONLY OPTION FOR THOSE OF US AMERICANS WHO HOPE, PRAY, OR WORK FOR A NATION WHO LEADS THE WORLD TOWARD PROGRESS... WE IMPEACH ON THE STREETS, IN OUR TOWN HALLS, IN EVERY SOCIAL VENUE AVAILABLE TO US... WE CANNOT DO ENOUGH QUICK ENOUGH TO REACH A PLAYING FIELD WHICH PERMITS THE FLOURISHING OF A TRUE DEMOCRACY!

A wolf in sheep's clothing, killing innocent children in an unprovoked war on a country unrelated to 9/11, defense and military billion$ spent without restriction or warning, the cavalier dispensing of the law as only a privilidged billionaire could conceive, the wreckless disregard of all science and reality to better reward other billionaire's fortunes, and the isolation of never having had to work a day in his life to survive are all grounds for IMPEACHING this war-generation relic of conquest... have it your way, but i am do or die IMPEACHMENT of the BUSH ADMINISTRATION and its cabal.

We need to get rid of Bush and the NeoCONs because he is evil, because he lies, because he works for the Shadow Government, because he was at the helm of the event that we known of as 9/11 -- an inside job if ever there was one.

It's because Bush is Illuminati, flashes the Illuminati hand signs in public with impunity, smirking and laughing at us.

WE ARE THE MORONS. They do their evil deeds IN PLANE SIGHT (pun intended), and laughing at us.

They are building concentration camps. FOR US.

Why not have them be FOR THEM?

So what if Bush is a moron? Stop being such prideful people, so partisan.

This is a matter of survival, not a popularity contest.

The Clintons are evil also, and they all work together -- the Bushes and Clintons, all part of the cabel whose goal is to destroy America, bring it down, and bring in the

NEW WORLD ORDER!!!

Wake up. Listen to Alex Jones. He's got the pooper scooper on these people. He's been fighting them for 12 years, and he's only 32 himself. He's produced several documentaries single-handedly.

Watch Loose Change.

You want links? I'll get you links.

Forget the "Bush is a Moron" stuff. Who cares if he's a monon? The point is, his handlers aren't morons, and their plans are to DESTROY AMERICA AND BRING ON WORLD WAR III.

Come on, people.

One of the problems I see in dealing with Bush and his cronies is that we still think and react as if everything is basically normal under Bush. They are not. What makes us think the Bushies would LEAVE if impeached and convicted. In their “war time” - "after 9/11" world, they are prepared to do ANYTHING to change EVERYTHING . I can just see Gonzalez being trotted out to give his "legal opinion" that in a "time of war" the Congressional powers to impeach DO NOT APPLY!" . Can you see them refusing to abide by a US Senate guilty verdict in an impeachment trial? They refuse to abide by the laws of the Congress every day. NOTHING from these people does or would surprise me.

I even entertain the following as a real option for these folks.. Summer 2008. God tells Bush he must be "commander-in-chief" FOR LIFE. A small yield nuclear weapon detonates in, say, Dallas. Blaming the attack on Bin Laden or Al Qaeda or the boogeyman, the Bushies declare martial law, seize the few entities that they had not already controlled and cancel the 2008 elections until further notice. WHAT IS TO STOP THEM FROM DOING IT? Certainly not the Congress, those people are complicit. They scare the hell out of me. I may have to move to the Netherlands yet again (did it first to escape Reagan-land)....Sorry for babbling but a cornered mind does race on.

I believe that the President is acting inappropriately, but also believe that it extends past him. I believe that this documentary, coming out in theaters July 28 will point out how members of our servants government intend to further step on the Constitution and has been doing so for decades. The trailers on the website are excellent. Part of his message is "Stop being a good Democrat. Stop being a good Republican. Start being a good American."

This whole Bush presidency is like an insidious cancer that is spreading. It is like a witches brew of scheming and plotting. We can't see it because of the layer of disinformation that, like bad grease, has floated to the top and we can't see all the evil going on beneath the surface. There are times I think of renouncing my citizenship to Bush's America and leaving the country. I have read a number of investigative pieces by Greg Palast, how the elections of 2000 and 2004 were stolen, that Iraq is just another source of oil to control...everything in our foreign policy makes sense only if you look at in terms of OIL and its connections. More facts coming out questioning 9/11 flatly do not fit the government's whitewashed report. Bush may be a scheming sonofabitch, but he is a puppet of something far more sinister, I believe. Impeachment proceedings should only be the beginning. He, Cheney, Rumsfield, that whole bunch, should face accountability for war crimes charges. I believe our country is in grave danger, not only because of the lunatic who sits in the Oval Office, but a majority in Congress blinded by partisan loyalties poses an even graver danger because of a fatally narrow view that keeps them from seeing the truth for what it is. The Republicans bear complicity in this madness that Bush & Co. has unleashed. And the Democrats need to get off their deadened mindsets and start TALKING ABOUT THIS...AND MAKING IT THE CRITICAL ISSUE FACING OUR AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE!

March on Washington

What if a few million like-minded people decided to meet and march in Washington, D.C.? Could the MSM ignore a group of this size? I can imagine placards with comments like: Bush& His Adm.--your time is up! Americans are Taking America Back! Congress--You're Next. Fascism Out-Democracy Back. You get the picture.

Would complacent citizens finally take notice if it was splashed across the 6&ll p.m. news?

What would happen if every town across America took one hour, one day a week, to line a portion of their main streets, in silence if need be, and let their placards do the talking.

Honestly, about 75% of the people I come across daily are only interested in what they're doing that day, and are pretty ignorant of what's going on in this country or the world.

. . . I was thinking about leaving, but then thought--this is my country--they can leave, or be removed!!

You liberals do know that even if you won control of the house and senate, your leaders would not start impeachment hearings don't you?

Pelosi has said so publicly.

But keep dreaming. Just like you keep dreaming of a granola powered cars and legalized pot. This is just another thing that won't come true.

There is no way to impeach a president for lieing or have really twisted reasoning. Those are bad things but they are not felonies, crimes or treason. If people want Bush out they might have more luck with calling for an international trial for crimes against humanity. The US constitution does not allow us to arrest a sitting president but it is mute on whether we allow an international tribunal to arrest and put him on trial.

The death penalty should remain on the table for the 11th of September 2001 alone, not to mention the murder of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and the slaughter of own soldiers. His immediate circle of cronies (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowisz, and other draft dodging draconian pinheads) should also face death, since they're obviously so in love with it. Death should have great fury as hell brims to the earth's surface to claim its prized servants. Burning these killers at the stake should be covered live by every network which spewed the state propaganda that kept the beast of this administration alive.

The rest of the Neo-Con artists and satan-worshipping goats wrapped in Christian wool with sheep meat on their breath should be sentenced to life in prison in one of those far-flung rendition concentration camps in eastern Europe, if only to prove to the blind sheep feeding at the Faux News troph that these horrific hell holes truly exist. Their wardens should trained in the techniques of manipulative terror featured in the movies Saw and Hostel, part of the national healing for the grief inflictged during Gitmo.
