Katrina's role in DeLay's resignation

More Redstate racist undertones?

The conservative website Redstate.org, best known as the former home of discredited conservative WaPo 72-hour blogger-boy, Ben Domenech, was outed a while back for its not-so-thinly-veiled racism in the wake of Corretta Scott King's funeral. Domenech called her a "communist" (a common civil-rights era slander), while a fellow blogger characterized the whole event as "a Def Comedy Jam spectacle."

Yesterday, having gotten word of Tom DeLay's cut and run plans, Redstate blogger Crank wrote:

DeLay's decision brings to a close a combative career in the House... Most of all, it ends the GOP concern that DeLay might lose his own seat, which in addition to redistricting has undergone demographic changes with the influx of former New Orleans residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
First, it didn't just "undergo" redistricting, it was engineered by the bugman himself. Second, if you want to say that Tom DeLay fears black voters, do us a favor and just say that Tom DeLay fears black voters. For the record though, DeLay's gated community District 22 isn't likely to be very a friendly place for Katrina refugees to put down roots -- though they do make a nice addition to excuses for the most powerful Republican's ignominious flight from the law.
