Feingold: 'Bush [broke] the law'

But CNN's O'Brien just doesn't get it...

Despite the chumpiness of CNN's Soledad O'Brien, Russ Feingold managed to get his point across, and to do it powerfully; that Bush broke the law and that he should be censured [VIDEO]:

Feingold: "There's no serious debate about whether the president was within the law here, he was not..."

O'Brien [cutting in]: "I've got to disagree with you here, there's a lot of debate..."

Here's the essential problem (apologies to those who've heard this 1,422 times before): A number of Republicans claiming that the sky is pink, and that it's laughable and partisan to claim different, is not debate. Debate is when you've checked the facts and found that something is true.

Georgia10 writes: "... almost EVERY SINGLE legal scholar agrees with Feingold that the legal issue here is already resolved: the President broke the law, and you don't need an investigation to prove that. He admitted it."

Soledad: head, ass, keep them separate please.

For those (like me) whose esteem for Democrats is not terribly high, here's an excerpt from Feingold's remarks on the Floor:

"The President authorized an illegal program to spy on American citizens on American soil, and then misled Congress and the public about the existence and legality of that program. It is up to this body to reaffirm the rule of law by condemning the President’s actions."
