With tongue "firmly in cheek," Ohio State Sen. Robert Hagan "(intends to) introduce legislation in the near future that would ban households with one or more Republican voters from adopting children or acting as foster parents."

This legislation-as-satire is aimed at another proposed bill, from Republican Ron Hood, that would prohibit gay, bi- or trans- adoption. It'd even prevent adoption for those with roommates of said identities. Perhaps next, they'll propose to withhold highway funds for states with gay legislators? Or prevent vice presidents with gay daughters from running for...

To further lampoon Hood’s bill, Hagan wrote in his mock proposal that "credible research" shows that adopted children raised in Republican households are more at risk for developing "emotional problems, social stigmas, inflated egos, and alarming lack of tolerance for others they deem different than themselves and an air of overconfidence to mask their insecurities."
From Trey at Daddy, Papa and Me:
I just love it. I mean, they could easily change, those Republicans, if they wanted to have children. it isn't inborn. What if their children ended up Republican? We can't have that! Though i guess you could argue that just because the parents are Republican doesn't mean the children will be. Look at me for example, raised by two Republicans, now I'm a Democrat.
