Free market unions

I call myself a liberal conservative progressive because I'm liberated, generous, wish to conserve the best of the past and to use the lessons of the past to progress toward a better future. My connections to unions goes back to the 1930's when my father was the cofounder of the Operating Engineers union in Kentucky.

We are both aware of the "Conservatives" premise that "free market competition" will solve everything because if, for example, a company doesn't compete fairly for employees or customers they will go elsewhere etc., etc. However for some reason they apply this "free market" competition only to competition between employers and fail to see how this concept could be extended to everybody. Employees, customers, share holders and management all compete for the same dollars. If the competition were really free, with each having an equal opportunity to compete, government would ensure that employees, customers and stockholders would have information, rxpert consultants and opportunities to organize and set dollar values equal to that of managers. It would recognize that any money used by the company to obtain and use information, to organize, expand and control others is money taken from these competitors.
