Editor's Note The following is the Introduction to Ultimate Sacrifice: John and Robert Kennedy, the Plan for a Coup in Cuba and the Murder of JFK, by Lamar Waldron with Thom Hartmann (Carroll & Graf).

Seventeen years ago, Thom Hartmann and I began writing a book about the battles of President Kennedy and his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, against the Mafia and Fidel Castro. Drawing on new information and exclusive interviews with those who worked with the Kennedys, in addition to thousands of recently declassified files, we discovered that John and Robert Kennedy had devised and were executing a secret plan to overthrow Fidel Castro on December 1, 1963. "The Plan for a Coup in Cuba" (as it was titled in a memo for the Joint Chiefs of Staff) would include a "palace coup" to eliminate Castro, allowing a new Cuban "Provisional Government" to step into the power vacuum, and would be supported by a "full-scale invasion" of Cuba by the US military, if necessary.

The "Plan for a Coup in Cuba" was fully authorized by JFK and personally run by Robert Kennedy. Only about a dozen people in the US government knew the full scope of the plan, all of whom worked for either the military, the CIA, or reported directly to Robert. The Kennedys' plan was prepared primarily by the US military, with the CIA playing a major supporting role. Input was also obtained from key officials in a few other agencies, but most of those who worked on the plan knew only about carefully compartmentalized aspects, believing it to be a theoretical exercise in case a Cuban official volunteered to depose Fidel.

Unique and different from any previously disclosed operation, the Kennedys' "Plan for a Coup in Cuba" is revealed in this book for the first time. The CIA's code name for their part of the coup plan has never surfaced in any book, article, or government investigation. Officially declassified in 1999, "AMWORLD" is the cryptonym the CIA used for the plan in its classified internal documents. Since the overall coup plan was under the personal control of Attorney General Kennedy, who did not use a code-name for it, we call it "C-Day" in this book, a name entirely of our own invention. Its evocation of D-Day is intentional, since the Kennedys' plan included the possibility of a US military invasion.

C-Day was undoubtedly one of the most secret covert operations in United States history. In its secrecy, however, lay tragedy. Even though the Kennedys' coup plan never came to fruition, three powerful Mafia dons--Carlos Marcello, Santo Trafficante, and Johnny Rosselli--learned of the plan and realized that the government would go to any lengths to avoid revealing it to the public. With that knowledge, the three mob bosses were able to assassinate JFK in a way that forced the truth to be buried for over forty years.

Marcello, Trafficante, and Rosselli undertook this extraordinary act of vengeance in order to halt the Kennedy administration's unrelenting prosecution of them and their allies. The Kennedy Justice Department had vigorously pursued Marcello, even subjecting him to a brief, nightmarish deportation. Once he returned, Marcello hated the Kennedy brothers with a deep and vengeful passion. The two other Mafia bosses suffered similar pursuit, and eventually Marcello, Trafficante, and Rosselli decided that their only way to avoid prison or deportation was to kill JFK.

The link above takes you to a description of Dr. Mellen's book about the JFK assassination. She comes to a different conclusion, after many years of careful research. Her investigations implicate the CIA:

Says Mellen:
“I think I’ve made a contribution to the history and the body of knowledge about this terrible deed. To those detractors who persist in protecting the CIA, in asserting that it must have been the Mafia, I counter: Prove me wrong. So far no one has.”

Obviously I haven't read this book, only the above few paragraphs. But one thing that leaps out at me immediately is that we are being asked to believe revenge-driven mafiosos went to great lengths to use political leverage - IE "any thorough investigation would reveal evidence of Kennedy's planned coup in Cuba." Not to mention the fact that - according to some versions of history - there were many in the Kennedy Administrtion who would have welcomed another shot at a Cuban missile crisis. So, why exactly would exposing this C-Day plan be such an outrageous and inconceivable thing, especially after the guy was dead?

This seems far fetched. I mean, from the story above it sounds like the Kennedy brothers used to take time out from running the country to personally oversee the pursuit and capture of a few mafia bosses. Does that sound right to anyone?
I'd have to read the whole thing, but those are my immediate questions.

As Attorney General Robert Kennedy had launched an all out assault on organized crime and had them on the run. Fact, not far fetched.

I find it interesting to consider that, the facts being presented in this excerpt being true, the Kennedy brothers might have lived longer lives if the "ethical" climate now established were in place in their life era. Imagine actually caring what the rest of the world thinks when you attack another nation! Those were the days...

Disinformation

This is a revisionist history of the JFK assassination that has "CIA disinformation" written all over it. There is a body of evidence that makes a credible case for Mob involvement in the Dallas operation, but to claim that the Mob alone pulled off not only the assassination, but the extensive coverup that followed, defies belief. Either the authors are being duped by intelligence insiders, or they are willing agents of disinformation.

I read the book with great interest...what is missing is the period of the Berlin crisis...little known history of CIA military exercises discovered by Kruschev during crisis completely unknown to either Kennedy..CIA was trying to provoke WWIII while Kennedy was trying to avoid war....Kennedy vowed to end the CIA as it was known...CIA had the means...motive and opportunity...

Uuum, I think not! The Northwoods Papers don't seem to be mentioned.

They were done and approved by those same people in the White House that Kennedy vetoed. If this guy had done such a good job of research he would have included that in his book, but it gives a different light on Kennedy's view in dealing with Cuba.

I believe that the Mafia only played a role through aiding the CIA in committing that act of assassination on an American President. The mafia doens't have the power to reduce the Secret Service contingency, nor put a lock down on the White House before the assassination by about 10 minutes and who controlled the route and who worked with Oswald? Documents show he was working with Intellegence agencies in New Orleans. No, there is way too much that doesn'nt answer either. Another rewrite of history, funny, huh?

They aren't alive to do their memoirs so the world leaves it up to guys like this. I wonder who they do work for????? Would be nice to know.

All this story proves is that the Govt has been corrupt for a long time. Kennedy's Dad and his mob friends helped put him in office, then he screws them. The microcosom of what we're doing in the Middle East and the Gulf.
This is the kind of stuff that make our Govt a joke and a curse on the Amoerican People. We have to change the workings of Govt and it's foriegn as well as domestic policies.
We are sacrificing our Freedom and Liberty for security against an enemy that's contrived.

So we're arguing over whether the CIA or the Mafia is most responsible?

Why not both?

Ever since a few from organized crime have revealed that they know who was planning to kill JFK and had a pretty good idea who made it happen, my suspicion grew that JFK and RFK were working secretly with organized crime to assassinate Castro. After all, before Fidel, Havana was owned by organized crime. Who else might have better access to Castro? If the CIA was involved, it was to keep the plan secret.

The pressures on organized crime were supposed to make them do as they were told. Then someone realized that, with all that coverup protection from law enforcement, they could get the Kennedys' foot off their neck once and for all.

That there was a secret plan of some kind involved is the only way to explain RFK's acceptance of the Warren Commission, and to explain his assassination when he looked like the next President-elect.

When you dance with the devil, you're likely to get burned.

Follow the Money Who Benefits?

If this were an investigation on a weekly TV crime show the detectives would start by asking who the most obvious suspects are. Who is close to the victim and who has the most to gain?

The Mafia may have made some hits in their day but nothing has gone down in America, since the Pinkerton's worked as the Railroad's spies, that the Wall Street-CIA Bankers don't know about.

There are no unsolved mysteries only unshared truths. The WMD leaks should remind Americans, the greatest secrets are the bits of dirty laundry. Dirt always has been what becomes classified. Can anyone argue for the "secret" status of half century old findings with a straight face unless we admit there's some CYA on the line?

Every unsolved killing from Lincoln to MLK, RFK, JFK, JFK Jr. and 9-11 have a common thread. The group who benefits is the core CIA-Wall Street Bankers. Many are members of the Skull and Bones, heirs to the Russell Trust Opium cartel.

Google a membership list or visit some of the Bonesmen research. Bonesmen are never more than two degrees of seperation from every dirty deal in American history including killing JFK. Given a little research this red herring book can probably be credited to a Bonsey PR effort. Both Republicans and Democrats are Bones so without network lists it's unclear who's who but their fingerprints are clear..

Bonesman, George H.W. Bush was the CIA agent who phoned in the tip leading to Oswald's arrest. Bonesman, Allen Dulles was fired by Kennedy for Operation Northwoods which suggested an attack on Americans to generate patriotic support for the invasion of Cuba. Imagine that idea?

Dulles was also on the Warren Commission which whitewashed the investigation. The Dulles brothers helped cover the Nazi war crimes which tied Prescott Bush and the Union Bank Corp, Silisen Steel and others siezed under trading with the enemy Act. The TICOM report classified in 1948 was to be made public in 1992. It's still classified and it's hard to believe the technology is what we're protecting by keeping WWII secrets now. That tells of Ghering and the CIA, but I digress.

The more you dig into the Bonesmen and "unexplained" the more the same names appear. Cheney and Bush are generations deep in the covert alliance of the RTC.

The reason John F. Kennedy was killed was that he had signed a Presidential order to return the US banking operations to the Government. He had currency printed and that was not going to happen to the FEDERAL Reserve who are not Federal at all. Follow th money, watch the banks, it's all there in the banker's private hands.

Those are the hands which can't find the source of Deutchebank's enormous shortselling trades of UAL in the days before 9-11 despite the fact that Buzzy Kroengard was CEO and CIA connected at the time. They are the bankers who were at the center of BCCI and Iran Contra and the list is endlessly long if you bother to do the research.

We watch America's debt soar and our leaders in Washington can't manage to keep track of where the money went with rampant fraud and contract abuse you have to wonder why these same people manage to track every penny of interest due them in their private sector jobs. When is the last time an ATM forgot to tack on the $2.00 charge for you?

It isn't that our Government can't run efficiently or effectively. It's that the Government runs for the Russell Trust. They are served well. Their misdeeds are classified, their revenues are directed offshore and their legacy always has been to drain the riches and leave a bankrupt, toxic legacy behind. The factories, the mines, the railroads, the airlines, the pensions, the resources and future of America, plundered by the circle of friends of the Russel Trust and paid for by the rest of us.

Answering Who is The Russell Trust?

Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The Russell Trust is a secret society at Yale. They are also known at the RTC, or the Skull and Bones. Great work has been done by Hoover scholar Antony Sutton in tracking their impact in history. Many other books exist as well as volumes of online information.

As one who never believed in conspiracy before years of research into the Bonesmen and their importance in history I can only suggest you look and decide for yourself. There's a website which is organized like MYSPACE that tracks political alliances. It's at www.politicalfriendster.com

It links by pictures and gives thumbnail sketches so you can see at a glance what it takes years of research to absorb. It has incomplete but insightful links for many of the Bonesmen.

The search function will let you search by name. Start with Skull and Bones and follow the trail from there. It has many of the faces behind events like 9-11 and other "secret" operations. Though hardly an all inclusive list of connections, it is an eye opener.

The 43 year Chase
Posted by: placid on Feb 5, 2006 3:30 PM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
It is hard to believe that it been 43 years since ,standing in the lunch line my senior year of high school, this "buzz" was working it's way through ,down the line " Kennedy has been shot. " My reaction was loud yelling stop the crap there is nothing funny about joking about such an idea. Then the vice-principle ,got sience from us and said it was true. I was stunned. One of those watershed events you remember, remember the entire day. I had a date that night and made up an excuse so I could go home and listen to the radio. It seemed more intimate than t.v. as people freely called in and I didn't feel so alone . Of course, two days later on my way to church the announcement about Oswald came over the air waves. (I so did not want to be in church) Of course, I saw the tape over and over. Truly , the baby boomers lost our political innocense. Since that most silent lunchroom, (everyone wanted to get to the senior room tv)I can't tell you how many times the assination came up, all the books written looking for answers , articles, stories, conspiracy theories ,etc were abundant. And I followed all ofthem I heard yet not one has ever totally explained what happened that rainy, chilly day in Wisconsin.43 years and still a lot of info not released---still bothers me. Inconsistencies, bother me. And not having read the book and documentation I find it will be yet another deadend to explaining one of the most earth shattering days of history I lived through. I surely thought by now we'd know the truth. I missed this revelation about C-Day. The Mafia surely has always been in the mix as well as Fidel Castro. So pardon me if I am skeptical but 43 years of chasing down the truth,if it isnot what we have been told, it is hard to get excited or believe any new reports on the eath of Jack Kennedy. If you were not alive then ,trust me, it was like everyhing was unreal and surrealistic also fits. An incredible true life mystery we may or may not have anything solid other than "the lone gunman" Lee Harvey Oswald. That entire decade politically was astonishing to be have experienced. "Listen, Do You want To Know A Secret?"

Regardless of who's responsible for JFK's death, it appears that nearly every American president has a secret. And we won't know the truth (or reasons) behind it, but it sends chills down my spine.
We sound (or act) like a Third World government in this manner. And when the secret(s) come out, it'll hit the country like a gale-force storm.
