Republican Governor Bob Taft was charged yesterday with four criminal misdemeanor counts for failing to report thousands of dollars worth of gifts and trips, including two off-the-books golf outings with Tom "Coingate" Noe. Jesus' General takes a moment to write him a letter: "It's a shame that almost two decades after the Reagan revolution, the government still regulates graft. I hoped that we'd be able to bring free market principles to government once we were in charge, but, unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet. At least you can take comfort in the fact that many of your friends and acquaintances will be joining you soon. It looks like half the Republican elected officials in Ohio will eventually be indicted in the Coingate and other associated scandals." (Majikthise, Jesus General)

Seems to me that graft and payoffs (gifts etc.) are the norm for our repugnacan leaders...

By pleading no contest to the ethics charges Gov. Taft avoided an investigation exposing the "pay for play" coruption that permiates government in Ohio. This is what a state looks like with a one party stranglehold on power. Taft, the hypocrite, gets a little fine and the matter is done with. Case closed. Now Taft can get on with his life and join Shrub for a bike ride to help him forget his troubles.

After the let down of Hackett losing at the polls, the Democrats finally have a victory, of sorts. Yes, I hope a domino effect kicks in. Come on Ohio, stay awake, knock down the lot of them. Wish it could happen in Washington, er Crawford or wherever they're all lying for the summer. And don't you just know they are lying wherever they are. Corporatist thugs.
