Every Mother's Son

George W. Bush hauled stakes for Texas and a vacation a few days ago. Cindy Sheehan followed. She got off a bus Saturday afternoon and started walking to the Crawford ranch. She wanted some answers and was going to get them.

Sheehan had met Mr. Bush once before. On April 4, 2004, just shy of a year after Bush stood on an aircraft carrier beneath a banner that read "Mission Accomplished," Cindy Sheehan's son, Army Specialist Casey A. Sheehan, was killed in Iraq when his unit was attacked by rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire. He was 24 years old.

After Casey's death, Cindy Sheehan was invited to the White House for a visit with Mr. Bush in June of 2004. Her first memory of Bush's appearance that day was when he walked into the room and said in a loud, bluff voice, "Who we'all honorin' today?"

"His mouth kept moving," Sheehan later recalled of her meeting with Bush, "but there was nothing in his eyes or anything else about him that showed me he really cared or had any real compassion at all. This is a human being totally disconnected from humanity and reality. His eyes were empty, hollow shells." Bush called her "Ma" or "Mom" throughout the whole meeting, and never got around to learning her name.

"The whole meeting was simply bizarre and disgusting," Sheehan said later. "Designed to intimidate instead of providing compassion. He didn't even know our names. I just couldn't believe this was happening. It was so surreal and bizarre. Later I met with some of the other fifteen or sixteen families who were at the White House the same day and, sure enough, they all felt the same way I did."

That was it. Cindy Sheehan, who had never been politically active in her life, became an activist. She traveled the country to speak to whomever would listen, she told the story of Casey's life and death, and she threw fire at George W. Bush with the passionate anguish of a mother who was forced to bury her son.

"Casey was told that he would be welcomed to Iraq as a liberator with chocolates and rose petals strewn in front of his unarmored Humvee," Sheehan wrote in February. "He was in Iraq for two short weeks when the Shi'ite rebel 'welcome wagon' welcomed him to Baghdad with bullets and RPG's, which took his young and beautiful life. Casey was killed after George Bush proclaimed 'Mission Accomplished' on May 1, 2003. Hundreds of our young people and thousands of Iraqis have been needlessly and senselessly murdered since George Bush triumphantly announced an end to 'major combat' almost 2 years ago now. All of the above events have been heralded by this administration as 'turning points' in the 'war on terror' — or as wonderful events in the 'march of democracy.'"

In June of 2005, Cindy Sheehan testified at a hearing in Washington DC about the Downing Street Minutes, the recently leaked British intelligence documents which exposed the fact that Bush intended to invade Iraq almost from the beginning of his first term, and that "Intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy" of invasion.

"I believed before our leaders invaded Iraq in March, 2003," said Sheehan in her testimony, "and I am even more convinced now, that this aggression on Iraq was based on a lie of historic proportions and was blatantly unnecessary. The so-called Downing Street Memo dated 23 July, 2003, only confirms what I already suspected: the leadership of this country rushed us into an illegal invasion of another sovereign country on prefabricated and cherry picked intelligence. It appears that my boy Casey was given a death sentence even before he joined the Army in May of 2000."

SUPPORT THE TTROOPS, BUT NOT THE WAR!!

My heart goes out to the Sheehan's and all of the families that this (and all) wars have taken their toll upon. I am the mother of a 22 yr old son who wanted to serve (fly) for the US. Instead he is facing his 5th & final year at Univ. (Aeronautical Eng). by the grace of God, he may be spared.

To the point, I am 47 yrs. old. I grew up during the "Viet Nam Era". To me, this travesty, is the same. I call it "Vietraq". I know history repeats itself - but, the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result!

Mrs. Sheehan, I salute you!! It's too bad that people didn't catch on to how horrible this whole thing would be before Nov 2004? I was raised to respect The President no matter what but I hate the way some of these "guys" embarrass us before the whole world.

I DO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BUT I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS "WAR"!!! I am LIVID over this situation.

I am not sure that all the protests and demonstrations during the Viet Nam war ("conflict") did any good. One would think that it would have taught us not to "repeat history". But here we are again in an un-winnable war, where we have no business being and our military personnel are being slaughtered on a daily basis. All for the egos of a few select people?? The scariest bit is that apparently the majority of us voted for this deal not once, but twice!!

Okay, I'm happy to rant and rave 'til a spark is lit somewhere in this country to where we'll spit this thing out and bring our people home!!!!

Bush's actions (or lack thereof) continue to show that he is not only a cruel liar, but a coward as well. He lacks the courage to face any of those who have paid the price for his (and his cronies') lust for wealth and power.

Mrs. Sheehan's Observations

Mrs. Sheehan's observations are further proof (as if we needed any) that George W. Bush is 1: a sociopath and 2: an asshole. The fact that this homicidal moron is the most powerful man in the world should give us pause - if not completely terrify us. Finally the American people are starting to come around but the pace has been maddeningly slow. In every second term of every administration for the past 90 years there has been some sort of scandal. Some have been relatively small (FDR's court packing scheme in 1937). Some have been pretty big (Watergate). This president's second term will be destryed by a scandal so horrifically obscene in its scope that it will make all the others combined look like a traffic infraction. It will also mark the first time in American history that a former president of the United States is sent to rot in a federal prison. You can count on it. Does that sound crazy? Stay tuned.

The arrogance of this administration never ceases to amaze me. "King George" has destroyed any kind of confidence in government and I am afraid that we have not seen the end of his mistakes.
My heart aches for Mrs. Sheehan and other families who have lost their sons and daughters in Iraq.
It is time for all of them to come home.

I think to get a real handle on B's psychology, to understand how a meeting like the one Cindy Sheehan describes could have happened, it's incumbent on everyone to read BUSH ON THE COUCH by Justin Frank.

The book is brilliant and scary and puts policy decisions in a new perspective because they aren't just made by a figurehead, or even approved by one, there is a human being there with a family history, and individual history and psychology--and it all points to what Sheehan saw and experienced.

Frank is the first person to fully explain the lack of compassion and even sadism that we see in decision after decision, speech after speech--despite whatever words might have been scripted to hide those characteristics.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can support Cindy Sheehan? I believe so much in what she is doing. I, too, am the mother of a 23 year old son in the Army, and my heart aches for her. Bush needs to be confronted. He makes empty statements like "they died for a noble reason". I am glad someone is calling him to task to explain just what he means by this. Why aren't the Bush twins serving if it is so noble? These people live on a different level than most of us and the war will only touch them in positive ways while our children die or are maimed. Good luck, Cindy and thank you!

Its amazing to me that all i ever hear from liberal news sources like communist news network and the treason times is
about the death in the war. There is never one positive thing about the war. Is the liberal stance to let terrorists come over here and kill as many Americans as they want ? Hell maybe clinton or boxer or Kennedy could issue them government subsidies to help really get the ball rolling. The thing you liberals miss is this.
every time an american soldier takes out a terrorist by killing him, hes saving lives. When you pull a trigger, you dont think of the life your taking, but of the lives your saving. Somehow though, cnn(communist news network) and other left wing news sources just dont get that.
Ill end with a final question. If you gave terrorists the right to vote in our elections, which party do you think they would vote for? after all, osama bin laden did endorse John Kerry in the 2004 election

Now there is one gutsy woman !! How about if a few hundered other mothers joined her, demanding a session with Bush ? This could be the turning point, if enough mothers got out there together. What's to lose ?
Would the cops lock them up for disturbing the peace,....or for " terrorising the President " .
How about if this story were sent to millions of people via the internet ?
Go for it and join her, if you want things to stop. I'm on the other side of the world, and will send this story to everyone I know.

Let's hope that she can get enough groundswell to get hundreds of thousands of voices behind her telling King George to end the war now.

The only "benefits" this fiasco has engendered have gone to Dubya, to serve his absurd notion of redeeming his father's mistakes, and to Halliburton. If we could ask any of the people who've been killed or horribly maimed if it was worth their sacrifice, I'm sure the answer would be a resounding " HELL, NO !!! "

Think of this: if Cindy feels this way, then how must the mothers in Iraq feel? We keep talking about Saddam Hussein, but George Bush is starting to resemble the media demon Saddam Hussein now, maybe even more than the real Hussein ever resembled the media demon Hussein.

The standard of living in Iraq has been deccimated. Maybe not for the very rich, but what about people like you and me? Here is an article that gives the facts about ALL the things that have been asserted about Hussein and Iraq:

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article9045.htm

And then what about the massive birth defects caused by Depleted Uranium in US weaponry? DU is an equal opportunity destroyer of Iraqis and Americans -- and it doesn't just kill for one or two generations -- it's a gift that keeps on giving.

http://www.nukewatch.com/du/20030804seattlepost.html

Cindy, you are right to speak for American children, but don't forget to fight for Iraqi children too!

If I had the money to drive my van from Ohio to Crawford I would camp out with Cindy Sheehan to show my support. I would even set up a camp kitchen to help feed fellow protestors. People have a month to catch Bush on his vacation. This is the same cruel-hearted, non-compassionate, ex-alcoholic retard who mocked a reformed, born again Christian exemplar of life turnaround and pushed the button to kill her instead of letting her off with life in prison. Bush is a total disconnect between the words he speaks and his eyes, the windows to his brain; Bush sounds like the Beast of Revelations. You can see the Beast in Bush's eyes.
There is enough time left in Bush’s vacation to put the word out to people to join Cindy in Crawford. It’s time to dump this mess on the doorstep of the person most responsible. Crawford looks like a great place to camp out. Why not take over the town?

George W. Bush owes us all answers - and I hope Cindy Sheehan sticks it out for the long haul. This president is a disgusting bastard and all I can hope for is that people finally see who he really is and he gets what he deserves. Bush should be impeached and tried as a war criminal. And all his cronies should go down in shame and humiliation for what they have done to this country. Bush and his cronies are the terrorists both here at home and abroad. I can't believe we elected this monster as president once, much less twice.

Without the Congress backing up his sick agenda, Bush would be nothing. Lets kick out all incumbants in the next election IF WE DON'T HAVE A TERRORIST ATTACK OF HUGE PROPORTIONS and have the bum declare martial law and become pResident for life. LOL

All the press we read right now are working to prepare us for the eventuality of mass killings of Americans through either suitcase nukes which are way too big to be sneaked into the country or through Avian Flu which is a bioweapon. So, this will be another 9-11 done by the Bush cabal and I am afraid Cindy won't be able to redirect them away from their agenda.

Oh, and it will be done in one of the blue states like Calif or NY. Not Texas, just check it out when it happens. P

I was a reporter in Texas during W's gubernatorial race and had the chance to interview him. Cindy Sheehan is exactly right about how this man conducts himself with constituents. . . he just doesn't give a damn. He blew into the room with his goons, never met my eye, and stormed (stomping and all) out of the room after my first detour from the script of prepared questions. I knew then that he was a petulant child masquerading as a leader. I never imagined that he would lead our nation. I was simply a renegade reporter, but Ms. Sheehan deserved far better than the type of treatment she received.

Mrs Cindy Sheehan has to be admired for her couragous stand in her beliefs against the arrogant bastard bush.He is devoid of feeling for the young heroes he has sent to their deaths along with the countless thousands who are limbless injured battle and mind scarred for life. Thousands of these young men are now guarding what the original intention of going to war was all about, namely the oil field rebuilding programme. The spineless smirking chimp bush cheyney rice and company should be on their knees begging forgiveness of Mrs Cindy Sheehan and all the other families of the troops who they sent to be killed in the name of freedom.
Mrs Sheehan deserves better than bush for a president
She deserves a real man not the scum who stands in her way from getting the truth as to why her dear son was murdered.
God bless the lady, let thousands more join her crusade.
With respect to her . george233

What "President Boy George" really fears is being emasculated by Cindy. Any parent who lost a child as a war casuality would feel the same way, but Cindy is taking it one step further, and her actions are exposing the Bush administration for what it really is: a arrogant, sad-sack bunch of cowardly chicken hawks fearing the loss of their manhood.

Other questions tha Bush should address (pay attention blackavenger3):
* How did '19 hijackers' out-manuveur the greatest military on earth and run hijacked planes into 3 buildings, one of which we never saw ?
* Why was Dick Cheney coordinating 3 war games on 9/11, one of which to simulate hijacked planes being run into buildings in the very cities that were hit, and another to simulate a cold war game of intercepting planes coming over the north pole, placing the intercept games well into Canadian air space ?
* How could Bush and Rice say nobody in this administration ever dreamed of planes being hijacked and run into buildings when there was a war game to that affect, being run on that very day (and at other times) ?
* Why has the main stream press or the 9/11 commission never addressed those war games on that day ?
* Why was Bush oppossed to the 9/11 commission in the first place ?
* How did the two WTC towers crumble in their tracks - from burning jet fuel which resembled a demolition ?
* Why were the two buildings targeted for security upgrades the night before 9/11/2001 ?
* Why was the 3rd building demolished by explosives, and it looked the same as the other two crumbling ?
* Why was the WTC not treated like a crime scene and investigated, instead of every piece of stell being sent overseas ?
* Why were the two tapes which recording the Pentagon strike (on a wing under construction) never made public, but confiscated by the feds from the service station and the hotel across the street ?
* How did Rumsfeld who was in the Pentagon talking to a Congress-person know 'we going to get hit again' ?
* Why has Rumsfeld twice referred to the 'plane over Pennsylvania' being shot down when the official story is the passengers hijacked the hijackers ?
* Why did Cheney say he had given the order to shoot down planes, and we did shoot down two of them ?
* Why was there a FEMA exercise occuring a couple of blocks away from the WTC on 9/11/2001 ?
* If the USA is fighting the terrorist who hit this country, why did it not attack Saudia Arabia, home to 15 of the 'hijackers', Ossam Bin Laden, and The Whabbi clerics who espouse kill the infidels in the name of Allah ?
* Why doesn't Bush turn over the security of Iraq to our muslim allies, Saudia Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey ?
* If we support our troops, why can't we bring them home alive ?

She changed her story.

She told her hometown newspaper at the time:
"'I now know he's sincere about wanting freedom for the Iraqis,' Cindy said after their meeting. 'I know he's sorry and feels some pain for our loss. And I know he's a man of faith. . . ."

So... which is it? Is the man a heartless bastard who didnt even know her sons name (which is very hard to believe, a president has people tell him everything before a meeting like this in which every detail is planned), or a kind person who really helped her and cared?

She has a right to feel and do whatever she wants to, but no one has even mentioned this other article in the main stream press. Not one time. I understand that a mother of a fallen soldier is sacred, but not more so than the truth. She is news worthy because her son is an American hero, I feel sorry for her loss and sorry that her grieving proceses has caused her to change her mind and her story.

It is also worth noting that her question, "Why did you kill my son," is a bit misplaced. Her son volunteered for service in a time of war and was subsequently killed in combat. It is apperent that her son thought it was a risk worth taking, or he would not have served his country. Not to mention it is a loaded question that no inquisitive mind would ask nor a professional person answer.

The service men and women who are actually putting their asses on the line seem to think there is something worth fighting for as they are reenlisting to continue the fight while the economy continues to grow and they could be making more money safely sitting at home. Every person I know fighting in Iraq explains that most of the Iraqis harbor the attitude that they are grateful for getting rid of Saddam and are grateful for our current efforts...but they want their country back. A sentiment any sane person should be able to understand.

Anyway, I thought someone had to be the asshole and point out that this she has changed her story.

(I need to find somewhere what it is that really pisses people off about GW. The god thing and the massive spending is annoying, but whats the point being all pissy about a conflict we are in and that everyone [including John Kerry, most of the time] admits we cant leave at this point?)

The Phony Behind the Artifice
Posted by: Stonecutter on Aug 9, 2005 8:39 AM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
My family just viewed the film "The Corporation" over the weekend. If there ever was an explanation for an animatronic cipher like George Bush "playing" the president, this brilliant documentary nails it. He's just a mutation of Ronald Reagan, who along with Mike Deaver created the modern paradigm of the Republican "leader": a relentless stream of disconnected, mawkish, hollywoodesque rhetoric aimed at an adoring, dumbed down conservative base, flying in the face of injustice, suffering (remember Ronnie's indifference to the AIDS crisis?) and the senseless slaughter of trumped up pre-emptive war.

Where a case can be made for Reagan's humanity peeking through the daily artifice, George Bush doesn't have a Mike Deaver around to soften his image and make him appear more human and accessible...he's got Karl Rove instead, a single-minded political geek of world class proportions, ruthless to a fault and more than ready to capitalize on the worst impulses of human nature (bigotry, stupidity, fear, greed, etc.) to prop up the empty suit in the Oval Office.

Unlike his father, who by virtue of his experience around the world, the loss of a child, and his unquestioned heroism in WWII, actually displayed character during his presidency (whether you agreed with his politics or not), the son is devoid of public character or integrity, replacing it with a shield of born-again fundamentalism that has allowed him to escape his past, and with a phony, concocted cowboy image, down to the boots and the bogus Texas drawl, that both feeds and feeds off his sociopathic John Wayne-esque, B-movie western persona.

His speech and conversation seem lifted right out of an old Wayne-Gabby Hayes two-reeler. He doesn't seem real, because he isn't "real" in any sense that ordinary people of substance understand. That's what Cindy Sheehan heard and felt when she met him in 2004. When Reagan hugged the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster, he was able to convey his humanity and compassion, and they were recognized...this guy was "built from the ground up" by corporate handlers, and his essential hubris and isolation ("dry drunk"?) have been "armored" over by a masterfully constructed veneer of droning rhetoric and faux-patriotic symbolism and artifice. The result: Cindy Sheehan on the side of the road. Don't hold your breath, Ms. Sheehan...he's busy clearing the brush.

I know Bush is the most insolent and condescending individual ever to steal two presidential elections. Just think of the multitude of qualified people in this country that could have led us with noble and meaningful direction! Instead we are stuck with this stumble bum DICTATOR that should be charged with WAR CRIMES. So we're in Iraq killing six year old kids and women with the entire world watching!? What's to be proud of??? Richard Simons

An Open Letter to "W"

This woman is a Gold-Star Mother, Mr. President. Her son has given his life in service to our nation under orders that came straight from your desk. President Truman had a sign on his desk in the very same office that said "The Buck Stops Here". Guess who holds the same responsibility today.

You OWE this woman an audience to speak her mind and share her concerns about this issue. Not a photo-op, a meeting. If you are man enough to start the war, you should be man enough to face the mother of a dead soldier. If you cannot, you are unworthy of the position of trust and responsibility that being Commander-in-Cheif of our Armed Forces holds and requires.

I am an 8-year Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Army and am not a member of the Democrats/Greens or any other left-leaning party. As an 18 year old Freshman I worked for the Reagan 1980 Campaign, so my Conservative credentials are as good as anybody's. Mr President, you are no conservative, no Republican, no leader, have no vision and your administration is a wreck. I hope you and your Neo-Con friends enjoy your time in power, because it will not happen again.

Your gang has made a complete and total mess of our foreign policy, our budget, the morale of our Armed Forces and been wrong on just about everything other than what day of the week it is. As amazing as it seems, you have made Bill Clinton look like an effective and capable leader by comparison. Unless something radical happens, I expect the G.O.P. to be swept out of power in the 2008 elections. Only the lameness of the Democratic Party could prevent this.

I can understand why Cindy Sheehan felt the need to meet with President Bush directly, to try to get some closure, some sense of logic, as to why her son had to die in Iraq. My heart, and the hearts of everyone in America, go out to her. But I can also understand why the meeting left her so empty: what else could be expected from the man who, as a boy, took glee in blowing up frogs and watching them die, and shot his own little brother at close range with a BB gun? This boy is, indeed, father of the man.

It's a shame that millions of people cannot have the same experience meeting Bush face-to-face that Cindy Sheehan had – because meeting him personally would make activists out of every one of them.

End Murder, End Greed, End Lust, End WAR!

I'm anti-murder and anti-greed, just like any good Christian, Jew, Hindu, Muslim, ... Human. Therefore, I'm against this war, which only serves to further those causes: greed and murder.

That's why Cindy Sheehan is in Crawford today. Because the lust for greed and murder of a few has led to the death of her son, Casey. The sins of Bush's administration have murdered Casey and over 1,800 others. There are thousands more Americans who died outside of the Iraqi battleground in hospitals. There are thousands upon thousands of Iraqi civilians who have died. All this death for what?

The sins of lust, of greed, and of murder.

I still find it amazing that you talk about liberals who will 'get 1000s of us killed'... and yet thousands have died at the hands of the current NON-LIBERAL leadership today. Please wake up, sir or madam. The troops are dying for your support.

"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him."
George Bush, September 13, 2001

"I don't know where he (Osama Bin Laden) is. I have no idea and I don't really care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."
George Bush, March 13, 2002

Our national security is being sacrificed for the political and fiscal profit of the Bush Administration and Republicans. This is treason. This is a war crime. This is illegal.

For the second time in my life I am ashamed to be an American (Vietnam was the first). 52% of the population of this country has proved the average American is a stupid uninformed a-hole. Yet everyone i know who admitted voting for this degenerate administration has not sent a child or relative to Iraq. All Chickenhawks. I have not saluted the flag since this president was elected. I have lost several "friends", but who needs stupid friends? Am I taking this too seriously?

Recent polls show that Bush and co. are at their lowest point so far. More people than ever before disapprove of the war and Bush's handling of it.

Rumsfeld and the military brass are now obviously jerking us around. Not even a week after anouncing that we'll be out of Iraq in a year, headlines yesterday proclaim that Bush is now sending MORE troops to Iraq.

Our troops won't come home, count on it, unless this war becomes a serious political liability. That's all these people understand. And now is the chance to help it along its way by standing up and adding your voice and body to the protests on September 24 around the country.

Saturday, September 24 in D.C. and around the country

Cindy Sheehan deserves respect! She certainly won't get it from the arrogant Bush in Crawford, Texas. All our men and women serving our country today (and yesterday and tomorrow) deserve respect. They aren't getting that from this bunch of cowards. Bush has no respect for anyone. He is devoid of any humanity. What a scumbag. Cindy, our hearts and prayers go out to you and to all who serve our country. Pray for PEACE.

To paraphrase Stephen King, "The lowlife cowboy fled across the country, and an outraged mother followed."

Cindy Sheehan has as much grit as Roland of Gilead. Nail the bastard, Cindy.

The Right to Dissent and Demand Accountability
Posted by: TrueUSPatriot on Aug 9, 2005 5:20 PM
Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
This week, we as a nation watch as one citizen travels to see the President and demand an audience. Many are angered, even outraged, at the avoidance of this woman by the man currently holding what is, arguably, the most powerful office in the world. Many more citizens fly to her aid, both physically and spiritually, as she is blatantly ignored for demanding an explanation.

If one looks at this from a distant perspective, it would appear that the citizen is attempting to engage the leader in an accounting of his decisions and actions that have led to the loss of her son. This is, of course, both her right and duty. And his responsibility, as a leader, is to address her.

Our latest essay, "Holding America to Her Principles", specifically addresses the issue of accountability, and the role that citizens play by enforcing their right to demand it. It is one of the cornerstones upon which our nation has been built. True US Patriots have a right and a duty to dissent, holding their leaders accountable for the actions and decisions occurring under their watch. It is one of the unofficial checks and balances, and it is solely in the hands of the people to employ in order to preserve freedom.

"Dissent is the mark of freedom."
- Jacob Bronowski

We have heard that, as of Thursday, when the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense both appear to meet with the President, Cindy Sheehan will be arrested as a threat to national security.

We have yet to see any indication of a threat to national security by this woman. Many others appear to agree. So, what legal right does anyone have to deny this woman her freedom?

"Stripped of ethical rationalizations and philosophical pretensions, a crime is anything that a group in power chooses to prohibit." – Freda Adler

Simply having the power to make the laws does not empower one to abuse the founding tenets of freedom. Misuse and misapplication of the laws in order to shield a political figure – however powerful – from a citizen who is adhering to her Constitutional right to demand accountability by her President is nothing short of criminal. It is most certainly unconstitutional. ...continued HERE.

Your piece had been part of the inspiration that led to the previous comment - really a pointer to an entry made on TPMCafe regarding the same topic.

You've made many such contributions, and all of us look forward to more as you help us wake up America.

These are thoughts from someone from the area where Ms. Sheehan is protesting. However, I'm now living in Ecuador - working as a professor. I'm here for my annual summer visit. I finally got curious last Friday and drove out to "the ranch" and to Crawford, just for grins. I was able to drive around the gorgeous backside of the property. (If interested, I can post directions - had a long description, but space here is limited.) Around front there was just one State Trooper in his car, behind the orange roadblock obstacles blocking
