Dropping out for a day

I'm taking the day off to contemplate the future, inspired by a day of silent meditation over the weekend. It's a non-snarky day in the blog world.
Like many Type A's, sitting still and clearing the brain is not easy for me. But it does help when you give yourself permission for a free day to just sit, with no other obligations. Inspiration also comes easy when you visit Spirit Rock, in the beautiful West Marin hills. It's the epicenter of the Northern California Vipassana Community -- not as hardass as Zen, and not as funny, but seemingly more socially conscious.
The mediation teacher mentioned that one of his teachers had a "funny" eye, and students used to say he had one eye looking in and the other looking out. That seems like a good piece of advice to take home. Sit well!
