NY Senate: Harold Ford Is All About the Issues...He Just Doesn't Want to Talk About Them

The pedicure-lovin', helicopter ridin' Democratic challenger for Kristen Gillibrand's Senate seat couldn't get any more ridiculous.

After last week's universally mocked roll-out for a Harold Ford primary challenge of Kirsten Gillibrand's senate seat -- where Ford revealed his love of pedicures and seeing the five boroughs from a helicopter -- one would think that his nascent campaign had nowhere to go but up. One would be wrong.

From a New York Daily News interview that was:

...  - granted under the condition that the questions be limited to his rationale for running, and not issues -

... and held at an International House of Pancakes, a pandering departure from his previously stated habit of having "breakfast most mornings at the Regency Hotel on Park Avenue," Ford:

... insisted that what's driving his decision is not how much money he can raise or what politicians are behind him, but rather the complaints her hears from voters about government in general - and Gillibrand in particular.

That would be the regular people ... his pedicurist, his driver, the busboy at the Regency, and so on. No mention of the dozen or so "high profile" Democratic power brokers who encouraged Ford to run.
