How Right-Wing Cult Leader Sun Myung Moon Bought Washington

With money, media and promotion of a conservative political agenda, a self-styled Messiah and convicted felon became a frequent guest at the White House.

“Moon looked on the media as almost the nervous system for a global empire. Moon was the brain, and the media are to be, or were to be, the communications vehicle for his body politic surrounding the globe.”

In January 1992, PBS Frontline broadcast a film I directed that documented the amazing rise, fall and subsequent resurrection of Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Unification Church movement. The documentary showed how, through an adroit combination of money, media and the consistent promotion of a conservative political agenda, a self-styled Messiah and convicted felon had rapidly reinvented himself and was soon hailed at the White House.

At the time, few Americans paid much attention to Reverend Moon – and those that did had bizarre recollections of him and the “Moonies,” as his followers once called themselves: mass weddings of complete strangers, flower-peddling in the street, and repeated allegations of mind control and brainwashing.

Even back then, Moon’s movement, once labeled a cult, was more accurately described as a conglomerate. As my film stated, “From media operations in the nation’s capital… To substantial real estate holdings throughout the United States… And from large commercial fishing operations… To advanced high-tech and computer industries, a Fifth Avenue publishing house, and literally dozens of other businesses, foundations, associations, institutes, and political and cultural groups… Moon and his money have become a force to be reckoned with.”

One of the primary vehicles for Moon’s rising power and influence was the daily newspaper the Washington Times, now back in the news because of the mysterious departure of its top executives, and facing an uncertain future.

But back then the Times was the fulcrum of Moon’s mission to use money and media as a path to power. As James Whelan, once the newspaper’s editor and publisher, told me at the time, “They are spending a great, great deal in this country…. probably more on influence and the obtaining of influence, of power, than of any organization I know of in this country, and that includes the AFL-CIO, that includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, that includes General Motors, that includes anybody.”

As he sought to influence America’s political agenda by pouring more than a billion dollars into media, Moon began to move among the country’s political elite: From Dwight Eisenhower…to Strom Thurmond…to Richard Nixon…to Ronald Reagan, he glad-handed and corresponded with an astonishing array of major American political figures.

Michael Warder was once one of the most important Americans in the Unification movement. Warder, who had close contact with Moon for years, told me, “Moon looked on the media as almost the nervous system for a global empire. Moon was the brain, and the media are to be, or were to be, the communications vehicle for his body politic surrounding the globe.”

Warder was responsible for managing News World, then Moon’s daily newspaper in New York City. “Moon wanted total control of the media, so there would be no independent media with journalistic integrity,” he said. “ It would be a media totally loyal to Moon.”

Moon’s troubles in America had begun in the mid-Seventies, when Minnesota Democratic Congressman Donald Fraser launched the so-called “Koreagate” investigation — in part a probe into Moon’s relationship to the Korean CIA and the buying of political influence on Capitol Hill. Using its own media, Moon’s organization struck back in an all-out effort to discredit Fraser.

“Moon wanted a whole series of articles going after poor Congressman Fraser, who was heading up the congressional investigations there,” Warder confided. “We would assign reporters to try and dig up all the dirt we could find on Congressman Fraser, and of course I would say to Moon, I said, ‘On one hand, we’re supposed to be doing this — but on the other hand, we’re competing with the New York Times. And so there’s matters of credibility here.’ And he would, you know, bluster and get angry at these kinds of things and say, ‘Just do what I’m ordering you to do and don’t ask so many questions.”

maybe the best thing the world can do now is to ignore this madman, this billionare shake-down artist, who crowned himself king of the world in a federal building with some of our equally lunatic politicians who bowed and scraped before him during the ceremony. moon and company are masters at capitalizing on primitive and childish legends, fear of life, fear of death.

If "most of Moon's" enterprises were losing money, where did he get the funds to continue his activities? You mentioned the ROK CIA paying him to run a Korean newspaper. Did it also supply funds for his activities in the US? Do you know how the ROK CIA was funded? Any chance that the US CIA funneled funds to its ROK look-alike for use back here? In other words, a "cut-out" to give the CIA "deniability" which was once highly prized at Langley -- before a series of compliant presidents allowed it to drop all pretense at abiding by US law.

Another brilliant exposé of Moon . . .

. . is a book by Josh Freed called "Moonwebs", which led to an excellent Canadian filming directed by Ralph L. Thomas and distributed under the title "Ticket to Heaven"

I would hate to add to Moon's "popularity" in any way, but this film is a basic MUST for anybody involved in discussions about the purpose of life itself, most especially with teenagers.

This man is pure undiluted poison of a most insidious nature.

Many sushi restaurants in the US are either owned or managed by Unification Church members. Perhaps an outlet for fish from Rev. Moon's fleet? If you don't want to support his works, find out who's preparing your sushi. Restaurants have long been used to hide or divert cash.

There's a whole section on Moon at Consortiumnews.com - including a recent article: "Reverend Moon's Troubled Generation Next."

For all the Consortium articles on Moon, just scroll down, scanning the left-hand column. (Other 'greats' also there, including Bush and Palin.)

Inspecting The Inspectors

The most difficult job to get is that of an inspector working for the government. 50 grand under the table to obtain the job of a food inspector is a good investment. The money will easily be returned in 6 months. Inspecting the books of medicare providers is another good one. After 20 years on that job you should retire with 10 million stuffed into 10 vaults. The second best job would be an inspector of the inspectors. The mother of all inspector jobs is the job of Inspector General. After 4 years the job holder will be in the Forbes 500.

Faith Based Initiatives

One of the reasons faith based initiatives are so dangerous!! Plus they are a good avenue for political payoffs and for down-sizing the government and eliminating government employee protection from political manipilation, lowered standards of qualification and pay scales.
This is a good time to find out what has been going on provide they aren't a CIA front and untouchable in our new secret domestic programmed world.

"There is no better agency, or entity or instrument that I know of for achieving power here or almost anywhere else — than a newspaper.”
You could just buy Congress if you can afford it. Since our government is, for all intents and purposes, up for auction who wouldn't buy it if you had the money. It's got to be a great investment since demand is so high and the price is through the roof.

Source of America's Cancer

Alternet is the first large media outlet to publish on the madman Rev.Sung Myung Moon and this week, the Wichita Eagle newspaper finally broke its silence on the activities of Charles Koch. These two men alone and in my opinion are two of the biggest culprits in why this nation has gone mad. For two decades I have studied these two who have funded most of the conservative, fundamentalist, and anti government movements providing cash in the trillions to all the wrong people. The billons of dollars which are funneled into this nation by Moon are illegal and brought in suitcases to places like the New Yorker Hotel in NYC. Moon owns thousands of businesses throughout the world and is the source of the anti-communist movement under Reagan who befriended Moon. The Bush family, including Silverado Neil, have endorsed, taken money, and are close friends of the Moons who they now own seaside property together in South America. The Amway company is or was owned by Moon n parternship with Dick DeVoe - inlaw to outlaw - Eric Prince of Blackwater. These Calvanist libertarians are closely hooked to the DOMINONNIST MOVEMENT which is never mentioned in news analysis. Moon was the largest contributor to the Republican party. Moon has backed every conservative huckster includng the entire fundamentalist movement. Moon runs so many not for profit organizations that it defies the mind. He is a sexual pervert who was crowned King, Messiah of the World in the Duerksen Chambers because of John Warren. Moon used his sushi farms to break laws and silenced California courts while he and Gonzales hid his harvesting of protected fish and sharks off the coast of California. The elder Bush has been paid huge sums of money to influence peddle in foreign countries attempting to change popular opinion and widely endorse Moon and his mission to take over the world and turn it into a theocracy with he or his flock being the true Messiahs. The list of Moon atrocities and the fact that the Republican and democratic party members have long taken funds from this cancerous entity is horrendous. Expose Moon and you solve America's biggest problems. Moons children who are soon to take over his kingdom are also crazed. One is a gun manufacturer and the other a drug addict. Even if Moon sells the Post his intention is to take over the US and to hasten its end. This is all public information written his many diatribes against Christ and against the US. Enter Koch and his lunatic friends and you have two streams flowing into the same muddy river. The best way to get rid of the Christian Fascist National Socialist Movement is to expose these people and to get Moon the hell out of America on money laundering. This will, at this moment that Moon is nearly dead and his House of Cards is falling - put the nail in their coffins. This fall out of the Moon Man kingdom could be his own end, or ours, for in a time such as this -his even crazier decendents could be the one's to finish America off.
