RNC Chairman Michael Steele Has a New, Stupid Blog

Steele began his foray into blogging today with a cringe-worthy post.

In what must be an attempt to initiate the "Republican Renaissance" he promised last week, RNC Chairman Michael Steele has started a blog on the recently revamped GOP.com. Steele, who seems to be searching all the time for new ways to prove he is agonizingly out of touch with everyone (constituents, young people, the human race etc…), has named the blog "What Up?"

A good question indeed. In a delightfully anachronistic twist, the blog appears below a graphic on the site that replaces the "O" in "GOP" with the head of an old-timey Republican every minute or so. First there’s Joseph Rainey, then Frederick Douglass, then Hiram Rhodes. Like flipping through an old photo album of grandma’s suitors.

Steele’s first post, which is peppered with unnecessary commas and vague paeans to modern technology, reads sort of like group therapy session for the GOP:

The Internet has been around a while, now. But, I still find it an amazing platform for innovation, not just in technology, but in life. Beyond admiring the way it powers so many inventions and businesses, it has become a personal thing for me. I love the fact that, wherever I might be, I can use technology to see my family and chat with them, and Social Media to tap into what my friends are doing.

Dangling modifier alert! Steele continues:

How can we better serve you so you can help propel the Republican movement? I have instructed my Senior Staff to spend time, not only keeping you informed through their blogs on the new GOP.com but, relating with people in OurGOP: The Republican Action Network. Everyone from my Political Director, who works with our amazing State Parties to elect Republicans, to my Director of Coalitions, who is creating exciting strategies to reach new voters, to my Chief Administrative Officer, who makes sure your donations are treated as the kind gift they are, will spend time in that network.
