14 Things You Need to Know About Obama Heckler, Rep. Joe Wilson

He was mentored by notorious racist Strom Thurmond, he's taken hundreds of thousands from the health industry, and "Joe" isn't even his real name.

South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson was pretty much a nobody until his outburst Wednesday during President Barack Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress and the American people on the subject of health care. Here are some things worth knowing about Mr. Wilson, including his most recent video appeal, at the end of this list, where he continues to characterize the Democrats' health-care plans as "government-run," saying he will not "be muzzled."

1. Like his ideological counterpart known as Mr. The Plumber, his real name is not Joe. It's Addison. His middle name is Graves. That makes him Addison Graves Wilson.

2. Wilson is a member of the organization, Sons of Confederate Veterans, reports Dave Niewert of Crooks and Liars, which "as the Southern Poverty Law Center has detailed assiduously, has been taken over in the past decade by radical neo-Confederates who favor secession and defend slavery as a benign institution." (Not that Wilson's affiliation has anything to do with his unprecedented heckling, during a presidential address before a joint session of Congress, of our first African-American president.)

3. Wilson served as an aide to the late segregationist Senator Strom Thurmond, who is credited with conducting the longest filibuster in Senate history -- against the 1957 civil rights bill.

4. When Thurmond's bi-racial daughter, fathered out of wedlock with an African-American teenage girl, came forward in 2003 -- after Thurmond's death -- Wilson castigated Thurmond's daughter, saying he did not believe her story. Essie Mae Washington-Williams was conceived of a union Thurmond had with his family's 16-year-old maid. Thurmond was 22 at the time. "It's a smear on the image that [Thurmond] has as a person of high integrity who has been so loyal to the people of South Carolina," Wilson said, according to TPM. Wilson later apologized to Washington-Williams.

5. A large percentage of Wilson's campaign contributions come from the health sector, according to OpenSecrets.org. Over the course of his eight-year congressional career, Wilson has collected $414,000 from the health sector, topped only by contribution from what OpenSecrets calls the "finance, insurance & real estate" sector, from which he has gleaned $455,000.

6. According to his congressional Web site (which has crashed thanks to a rush of traffic after the president's speech), "Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) announced today that his office will be open on Saturday, September 12, 2009 to host constituents traveling to Washington for this weekend’s 9/12 March on Washington." The September 12 march is sponsored by the astroturfing group FreedomWorks, and widely publicized by the 912 Project launched by FOX New personality Glenn Beck, who, in an apparent fit of what the psychologist call "projection," called Obama a "racist."

7. Wilson is an adamant opponent of health care reform. As reported by The Hill, his last Tweet before his heckling performance at Obama's speech read, "Happy Labor Day! Wonderful parade at Chapin, many people called out to oppose Obamacare which I assured them would be relayed tomorrow to DC." (Wilson is currently the top trending topic on Twitter, and has nearly doubled his number of followers since his outburst.)

8. A military veteran whose health-care coverage is set for life, even after he retires from Congress, Wilson has "voted 11 times against health care for veterans in eight years, even as he voted 'aye' for the Iraq War..., " according to Adam Weinstein, an uninsured Iraq-war veteran, writing at Newsweek's The Gaggle. "He voted to cut veterans' benefits─not his own─to make room for President George W. Bush's tax cuts," Weinstein says. "He repeatedly voted for budgets that slashed funding to the Veterans Administration and TRICARE. And perhaps most bizarrely, he refused -- repeatedly -- to approve Democratic-led initiatives that would have extended TRICARE coverage to all reservists and National Guard members, even though a disproportionate number of them have served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan -- and many lost access to their civilian work benefits when they did so."

9. In 2002, the Washington Post reports, Wilson attacked Rep. Bob Filner, D-Calif., on national television, calling him "viscerally un-American" and accusing him of "hatred of America" because the Democrat suggested that the United States had once provided Iraq dictator Saddam Hussein with the wherewithal to acquire nuclear and biological weapons technoligies. Hussein was an ally of the United States during the war he waged on Iran. (The Post has the video.)

10. Wilson served in the Reagan administration as deputy counsel in the energy department.

11. Sen. Lindsay Graham, R-S.C., hearts Joe Wilson; calls Obama "combative." "The president’s combative tone did not justify a member of Congress shouting out 'you lie,'" Graham told the South Carolina newspaper, The State. ''Our nation’s president deserves to be treated with respect. It was an inappropriate remark, and I am glad an apology has been made.'' He then attributed Wilson's behavior to the president's remarks.

"I was incredibly disappointed in the tone of his speech," Graham said. "At times I found his tone to be overly combative and believe he behaved in a manner beneath the dignity of the office. I fear his speech tonight has made it more difficult -- not less -- to find common ground."

12. Wilson's heckling is raising funds for both him and his opponent in his upcoming congressional race. The Washington Post reports:
One clear beneficiary of Wilson's intemperance was his Democrat opponent, Rob Miller, who garnered 46 percent of the vote in a 2008 matchup with the congressman. By midday, Miller had received more than 10,000 new contributions, totaling more than $350,000, according to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which hailed the "groundswell of support." Miller, a former Marine, still faces a fierce fight in a firmly Republican stronghold.

ThinkProgress reveals attempts by Republicans to use the incident to raise funds for Wilson:
Republican activist Patrick Ruffini encouraged his Twitter followers to contribute to Wilson. Calling the South Carolina congressman a "great American hero," RedState.com’s Erick Erickson posted this fundraising solicitation on his site:

Joe Wilson has been identified as the Republican who yelled out that Barack Obama was a liar.

He gets a drink on me!

CONTRIBUTE TO JOE WILSON HERE. Joe Wilson’s opponent raised $11,000.00 in an hour after Joe Wilson stood up to Barack Obama. We must help Joe Wilson.

13. Joe Wilson's BFFs in Congress, according to McClatchy Newspapers: Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., and Delegate Madeliene Z. Bordallo, D-Guam.

14. Joe Wilson continues to lie. In a YouTube video released Thursday, Wilson, who apologized to the president Wednesday night via White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, seems hardly contrite. He now says that "liberals who want to give health care to illegals are using my opposition as a distraction..." "They want to silence anyone who's against" the Democrats' health-care plan. Wilson continues to refer to the health-care plan as "government run," and attributes his outburst to having spent a month in town-hall meetings with emotional constituents who oppose a "government takeover" of health care.

and working for the wife and political party swapping Reagan administration that lied about the Treason fomenting Iran-Contra weapons for cocaine scandle.

I would say the media needs to dip deep in this mans personal dirt, since he replaced the pre-martial sex resulting in pregnancy Strum Thurmond is it possible he has skeletons in his closet too. Many of the southern GOP have been multiple adulterers like Newt Gingrich, Bob Barr, and John Livingston just to name a few. There is even the perverted sexual escapades of Congressional Pages Mr. Foley.

These types are old men who can't keep their pants up, their stories straight and are nothing but scum, which is too nice of a word to describe their past actions.

2005 the last year the GOP ran the House Addison Graves "Joe" Wilson earned a big fat ZERO when it came to voting on Veterans issues.

How the GOP convince the military that they love the soldiers makes me speechless.

HOW DID YOUR CONGRESSPERSON VOTE ON VETERANS' ISSUES?

Obama Lied: No Health Insurance for Illegal Aliens
Posted by: bcainw on Sep 11, 2009 2:20 AM
Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Let's get clear on a few things. Alternet is funded by the Ford Foundation which has long been a proponent of globalization and open borders: both of which are bad news for honest hardworking Americans.

If Obama and his corporate shills were really interested in insuring that no "illegals" get health insurance they would have E-Verified all of the applicants to determine citizenship. But they didn't. In fact they struck down 2 amendments on E-Verify.

So among reasonable people Obama lied. Just like he has lied about so many other things. Frankly I wouldn't care if he were purple and walked around with a feathered butt plug . . . as long as he was representing the interests of the American People. But he has not done this. In fact with each passing day there is yet another betrayal by Obama against those that put him in office. This is not merely sad, it is downright tragic.

The American People have been betrayed and unless we rise up soon the country we have known all of our lives will no longer exist, except as a memory.

While Representative Wilson's remark was not polite, not politically correct, and out of place in the setting, it was, nonetheless, correct. Obama lied like a dog.

The Implosion of the GOP

Isn't Joe Wilson an hoot and a half? It truly is an amusing thing to behold. The extreme right wing is having a collective, massive nervous breakdown. They just can't come to terms with the nasty little fact that a black guy is the most powerful human being on the planet. It really is kind of funny - to a point.

Here's what's happening, boys and girls: The so-called "party of Lincoln" has been forever exposed as ideologically bankrupt and they are in the process of implementing their "scorched earth policy". In other words, if they have to go down (and down they are going) they're going to bring the rest of the country down with them. That is what is happening. If you think the right wing has lost its collected marbles, as Al Jolson used to say, "You ain't seen nothin' yet". There is violence down the road. Count on it.

Sound paranoid? Stay tuned.

Hey Kids, Meet The Beatles!

No heckling the Sacred Cow

Look at this from objectively and it's a tempest in a teapot. Bush got boos and catcalls during the '05 State of the Union address, Clinton got the same a couple of times too. Nothing special here except Barry is President and Barry is sacred.

While nothing now circulating under the guise of Health Insurance Reform allows illegals insurance, there certainly isn't any strict effort to prevent it either. Obama said in Mexico City that he would reform the immigration problem by providing a path to citizenship and that means a path to ObamaCare.

Joe may have been a bit rude, but I really wish 50 more had joined him when President Urkel said that his plan wouldn't add a dime to the deficit and he could fund this though savings in waste, fraud and abuse. That's a bold/bald-faced lie and such a steaming pile of BS that I wish every opponent had stood up and thrown a shoe at BO.

It seems to me that President Obama has become a Sacred Cow. To oppose him is to be racist, fascist, mean, thug and a dozen other things when in fact we are just not buying his Communitarian values and want to keep our rights and keep gov't small and cheap.

I don't see anything unusual about politicians shouting at each other. Of course, maybe because Obama is head of state, things are different. The Democrats could have returned the favour by shouting back at Ol' Addison.

Addison Graves Wilson (ha,ha,ha)is in the military reserve, this makes the president his commander in chief. He should be courtmartialed for doing what he did. These people are still pissed they lost the civil war. Get over it. The north should have given them the south so they could have run it into the ground like they are doing with this country right now.

Yes, the Republican Party is imploding, and as it does we see some (but not all) of the racist passions that drive it and the corporate structure that supports it.

While Republicans are in the minority, they are still dangerous. Let us not forget that 9/11 is also the anniversary of the coup that ended the Chilean government of Salvadore Allende, with the tacit support of the Nixon administration. As long as Dick Cheney breathes, the whiff of insurrection is in the air, fanned by blowhards like Limbaugh and Beck and Colmes and Hannity. Note the post called Obama Lied.

Strom Thurmond was no more a racist than Van Jones or Michelle Obama or maybe even Barack Obama for that matter. Racism by anyone is unacceptable!

As for Wilson, he was dead wrong to treat the president like that (he dropped to the level of the democrats and the way they treated Bush).. even though he was right, the President wasn't telling the truth - the democrats blocked GOP amendments prohibiting illegals from participating among other issues.

Why do we have to rely on Beck or Wilson to bring out what this administration is trying to hide from us!

Until we separate the politicians from corporate money,i.e. campaign finance reform, there is no logic in continuing debates over healthcare, or any other substantive issue. Whatever happened to discussions over campaign finance reform? Or have I been dreaming that it was once a hot topic?

for the whole gaggle of white, over-privileged, corporate-sponsored, egotistic, racists that have been screaming on the radio, keeping their kids home from school if the President is going to speak, and dripping rage-induced spittle at Town Halls.

They could all care less about health care reform. Heck, they don't even understand that Medicare is a government-run program or that if they have health insurance it is most likely costing them 300% more than did 10 years ago. All these people really care about is the maintenance of their ability to blame someone else for the anxiety, the sense of impotence, and their failure to succeed in life.

Screaming at the President is a childlike cry for help from a sad soul.

Just because a worthless political whore calls the president a liar doesn't mean the president is honest. Wilson is a GOP apologist who selectively recognizes only Democratic dishonesty. Obama's handlers are making a power grab under the guise of health care reform - just like Bush exploited the 911 incident for the anti Patriot Act. I guarantee any Republican successor will leave Obama Care intact just as Obama left the anti Patriot Act intact. Can you say "suckers"?

"Joe" Wilson, much like the other bloviating, prostitutes for the Corporate Oligarchy, are chicken-shit obstructionists! They all have lied to their constituents even as they pad their own coffers with the money and "perks" delivered to them by Corporate America! Their only ideas are continued tax cutting for the rich and Corporate, these "ideas" which should by now be thoroughly discredited for the sham that it really is - massive transfers of public wealth to private hands - isn't that welfare for the already entitled?!!?!? These people desperately need to be voted out of office, not because they are rethugnikans, but because they are selling out real Americans to keep their Corporate pimps happy!

These rabid old white men that pine for the days where not just people of color needed to be extremely deferential to them, and let's be honest "white women" were seen and not heard are a throw-back to another era! It's not that there aren't those out there with that same mentality, but these people are supposed to be "objectively" representing the "best interests" of the nation!

His outburst would never have been tolerated under the previous mis-administration that has totally bankrupted this nation, both economically and morally! Far from having "family values" unless your "family is a pack of sharks" these people are evil and their atrocious behavior left unchecked will ruin this nation!

Don't care about Joe
Posted by: james108 on Sep 11, 2009 6:59 AM
Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
How is he screwing the public? Is it as bad as smoke-screening the Afghanistan mass murder all to get a puppet government that central asian oil suppliers can trust?

Is it as bad as being in bed with the health care industry that's bleeding us dry, silencing public option supporters or painting anybody who doesn't agree with Obama's plans, which is a large number of people, as fringe right or fringe left wing?

Maybe Joe does all those things, or would if he could, but it's Obama that's screwing us and Alternet that gives us useful distractions to sidetrack the corruption of what the democratic party is doing.

So, Joe really isn't worth my time right now. We got bigger fish to fry. Ways & means voted down verification of citizenship status twice, so the one liner they put in on citizen status was fluff without it. At best, it makes illegals presumptively eligible and worse criminals. At worse, they voted verification down so they could pretend they were letting illegals get through to push this through and will close the gap later. There's no other reason they would be so disingenuous that I can think of at the moment. They lost the right to call those calling them out liars when they tried to make the bill both ways and neither. It's like Obama being pro AIPAC or pro-Palestine, depending on which speech you're paying attention to.

Just like the silly birther deriders. How would you like everyone who believes there's more to the story to 911, and that the government lied about some things, to be compared and lumped with crazies who wear tin hats? It's not true. There is reason to question. So, with the birther deal, Obama is the one that made it a contraversy when him and the DNC blocked access to his actual birth certificate, spread "grasroots" lies that the original didn't exist since Hawaii went electronic, and then published an obviously incorrect one that listed him as the first "African American" by race, in US history. I'm not saying he's from Kenya, just that his actions gave right wingers a point of truth, which is he hid it and slipped around it. What does it really say, don't know don't care. My guess it it just said Arab or Negro, and like many things Obama, carefully staged PR decided on a feelgood story instead of reality.

So no, I don't care about a .1% of racists or right wingers, or if Joe gets VA or has a license. I'm more concerned with what progressives and liberals are doing to themselves rationalizing for Obama and redirecting us from dealing with how the democrats are selling us out. That makes them bigger liars in my book, since the republicans were obvious to us, like the democrats are obvious to conservatives, and both are obvious to those that know this is more important than rooting for your favorite football team.

Who Should I Believe, the President or My Lying Eyes

People resort to name calling when they can not substantiate their position with facts. Please show where in any of the bills either in the House or Senate prevent illegal aliens from continuing to get free healthcare. I would not put my money in a bank that didn't check to make sure those who would withdraw money were the same as those who made deposits. I also do not trust an administration or a congress that wants to legalize unknown millions of illegal aliens to make sure that those illegal aliens will stop getting free healthcare that I have to help pay for through my taxes and higher insurance premiums.

I fault the President and the Democrats in Congress who want to provide healthcare for illegal aliens for trying to flim flam American citizens instead making the business interests who benefit from illegal aliens pay for their healthcare costs.

I'm a life-long liberal Democrat but I'm not a fool, and neither am I unable to read. Who should I believe, the President and the Democrats, or my lying eyes?

You can add coward to the list since he's obviously in no hurry to get his site back up. If this "throwback" had actually read the bill and hadn't sucked down so many drinks prior to the address,(Compliments of the healthcare industry) maybe he could have mustered some self control. He may be FOXNews' little darling for a moment but he showed arrogant contempt and disrespect not only to the President but to every American Citizen.

I have little respect for any politician in Congress. Most in both parties are working for corporate America and listen to us only long enough to get us to vote them back to the trough.

But Wilson is showing how truly useless Republican politicians are becoming...more so than Democrats. It is not so much that he takes money in exchange for special considerations...they all do that.

It is really about spouting out-right lies as if no one knows when he does so. Worse for us is that so many people will choose to believe those lies in his support simply because they hold a hatred for anyone who would do something moral for another American citizen, or for someone who is black and successful.

Home of bigots, NASScar and general purpose rednecks. What is going on is certainly the end of Republican politics, but they are going down hard. I do believe there will be violence, but at the end, their brand of patriotism will die an ignoble death, along with their pathetic interpretation of the second amendment. You can't forever pretend to live in the 18th century and get away with it. Poor babies...

And so on. The crackers are fit to be tied we have a black President. As for the horrible "illegals," you mean the human beings who do all that dirty work for you all? The ones your precious corporations exploit for cheap labor, who work in places like meat processing plants (like the hog farms that have ruined NC's environment) where you fat bastards get the dead animals you stuff your faces with so that you resemble the creatures more each day (though not as cute).

Them. Some more "other." So when they drop sick we should let them lie in the street and bulldoze their bodies? Yeah, I bet most of Yahoo's fans are born again "good" Christian folk too.

The dreaded word even Addison Graves Wilson will not speak
Posted by: Gregory Kruse on Sep 11, 2009 8:48 AM
Current rating: 5    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Not only Wilson, but Beck, Rush, Savage, Bachmann, Palin and all the other hate speechifiers, will not utter the dreaded word "nigger", but they sure would love to. They can't find another word, no matter how they try, which matches the visceral hatred they carry for all things African, except if they happen to be their own slaves, of course. They've tried calling Obama "Hitler; Lenin; communist; fascist; liar; racist; Satan; Anti-Christ, and Liberal", but even thought they are safe, none of these words and names express their abysmal revulsion that an African decendant is president of the U.S., (and an African-American middle-class woman lives in the White House) in a way that satisfies. They can't use the word "nigger" because it is hate speech when used to threaten a person of African heritage or person of color. It is because the people who hate Obama and call him unsavory names are melanin-challenged that I can say with little trepidation, that Addison Graves Wilson is a nigger. Glenn Beck is a nigger. Rush Limbaugh is a nigger. Sarah Palin is a nigger. Michelle Bachmann is a nigger. Michael Steele is an African-American, but he's stupid. So Alternet can take my comment privileges away for using the "n" word even for purposes of exposition, and all those people I called niggers can sue me, but it will only result in my becomming famous and rich, just like they are.

What does one honestly expect from a South Carolina Republican?

Look at what has resulted from this dumb show.
It has energized support for the Obama-Demopublican Regime policies of war, corporatism and his proposed gift to Big Pharma and the Insurance swindlers.

This is how they keep you polarized. You don't have to pick the lesser of two evils...Wilson or Obama to support...REJECT THEM BOTH! And, reject the policies of tax, spend, steal and lie that they both have so ably represented.

Sure, the hypocritical Wilson makes the liar O'bomb'em look good. But does that help us? No! It helps to continue the war. It helps to empty the treasury and indebt us to the corporatists.

The important things is...to bring the

TROOPS HOME NOW!! DOWN WITH THE DEMOPUBLICAN REGIME!!...Now, there is change you can beleive in!!

I can't believe the people in USA are fighting against having a fair, affordable Health Care.
If this Health Care plan does not go through the people who are losing their homes, dying because their Insurance does not cover their illness because of a technicality will realize that life in USA is not that 'Golden'.

I am over 65 and live in Canada. After 65 we get a card saying that now our Health Care is
covered. I fell and broke 2 femors and an arm.
Ended up in the hospital and Rehab facility from August till April. Do you know what I paid? ZERO

The Health Insurance is paid by the amount of Income you have. For most people it is very minimal.

Sure, I wait to see my doctor (any doctor I chose) for a couple of weeks with an appointment and there are Emergency Services available if needed. Our medications are also very low in cost and after you spend $200 on medicine you pay almost nothing. Seniors get a better deal even.

So you call it Socialized Hospital Plan. Countries like France, England, Germany and others have it. It helps the average citizens and people like Mr. Joe have a good insurance, have enough money to cover a dozen private nurses and doctors and they are happy.

President Obama is trying to help the average man but if you don't want this, then you don't deserve it and when your time comes to sell your house for a prostate operation you can just shut up and live under the bridge.

Did the President lie?

Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
All the posts here don't analyze that. This is irrespective of the inappropriateness of yelling it out.

Here are the facts:

There is nothng in the bill that covers illegals. But in addition there is nothing in the bill that stops illegals from getting the benefits. When an amendment was proposed that one should have to show proof of citizenship to obtain the benefits, it was voted down on a straight party vote with the dems voting agaist. This is a matter of record.
So, in effect at the present time the bill would allow illegals to obtain the benefits since no one is required to show citizenship.

Hence, Obama was deceptive. IS that lying? Regardless it is deceiving.

None of the posts above even attempted to discover the facts. IS this
typical of progressives. All we have is ad homs on Wilson which obscure the essence of the problems.

OF course, progressives might favor covering illegals, but do they also favor lying about it? Apparantly so.

Conservatives would migrate to Texas in droves. I would love to see what happens when conservatives actually run something without interference from liberals. It would be worse than a third world country. Just a bunch of racists running around with guns with nothing else to do. No businesses would go there because even though they would not have to pay taxes they would have no educated workers as Conservatives would refuse to pay for education. They would just have Bible Class everyday instead.

If Obama had the mind and heart to bravely put single payer on the table and force both parties to pick between privilege and right, none of this silly madness would have occurred. I cannot believe that even most progressive Democrats, save a few such as Dennis Kucinich, are pushing this rotten bill. I just did another lookup on what will happen to Medicare and Medicaid should this pass and it appears that Obama is more than ready to concede into robbing it to pay for this scam. So this is how the "party of people" treats the elderly ?!? God ! Maybe Sarah Palin, much as I can't stand that creep, and that oldie shouting against government not to touch his medicare at a town hall meeting know something more sinister than even the gullible electorate. Wilson or Obama, we the people will pay dearly for this wretched bill disguised as "reform". Enjoy your chump "change" you can believe in if you are lucky to even get it starting in 2013 !

How does that change the truth? The truth is that ways & means TWICE voted down the ammendments to actually use the IEVS or SAVE verification systems, leaving a huge reason for people to question what their intentions are.

Racism, or race baiting, is portraying almost every issue in terms of what racists think about it. So what? If we want illegals to have care, than have the guts to argue it honestly, and condemn lies and tricks for loopholes. By downplaying the tricky move, the left can only call republicans FELLOW LIARS and aren't really helping immigrants, except to cause further racial tension. So making a legal loophole and pretending it's not there will make the "right" right when they criticize that. That's a bad thing.

Are people really unwilling or unable to pull up their own links to verify that the Ways & Means committee actually did this?

I've heard the argument that subsidies will only be available as tax credits, and that doesn't make sense from a practical standpoint. You're saying poor Americans will have to shell out full price, and then get a tax return credit? That will hurt the people who actually need the care and don't have the money in their pocket then.

Ignorance can be changed by education but stupidity goes to the bone. There are a lot of stupid people who won't take the time to learn the truth.
FactCheck has posted the truth: "Obama was correct when he said his plan wouldn’t insure illegal immigrants; the House bill expressly forbids giving subsidies to those who are in the country illegally. Conservative critics complain that the bill lacks an enforcement mechanism, but that hardly makes the president a liar." http://factcheck.org/2009/09/obamas-health-care-speech/

Battle? Only the beginning on illegal immigration.
Posted by: Brittanicus on Sep 11, 2009 2:27 PM
Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The incident that occurred in Congress by Rep. Joe Wilson R-NC, illustrates the consequences of a blurring line between illegal immigration and health care. Our politicians have been alerted to the angry voices of the American people. For once they have disregarded the business campaign contributors and all the cloaked gifts given for services rendered by special interest lobbyists. Millions of US citizens are enraged with the status quo buying favors from our representatives that has led to our wilting economy. Today speaking on behalf of Washington committees on health care, the lawmaking emphasized that illegal aliens cannot access the new health reform package, that any person applying will be checked through government databases.

E-Verify might be implemented for this very issue, that it has shown in the majority of cases remarkable successes in remove illegal alien workers from the working environment. E-Verify can solve this problem and bring sanity back to immigration enforcement. E-VERIFICATION OF EACH AND EVERY AMERICAN WORKER MUST BE MADE PERMANENT? NOT JUST VOLUNTARY POLICY, BUT AS A FULL FORCE OF OPERATION CARRYING STRICT PENALTIES. This operation will work under federal policies? But what about state laws? California as an example is a Sanctuary state for millions of illegal immigrants and their families? Other border states are also occupied by large proportions of unlawful populations of foreign nationals?

This last year has culminated in huge financial losses in California caused by millions of low income illegal aliens, which has created a third world community within the United States. There must be federal measures to bring under control, massive spending benefits for people who have no right from benefiting from those who come here legally or were born here. How can any public health care option work at a state level, when states like California ignore federal law, regarding financial refuge to indigent people? Our own people remain homeless and in many cases without hope, when legislators have prioritized, health care, education an overloaded jail system and easy welfare money for illegal immigrants?

The once golden state has been using taxpayer money, to support illegal aliens, when the same expenditures should have been adopted for a collapsing infrastructure. Highways, schools, tunnels, bridges and dams in a dangerous state of disrepair? Our legislators in many cases have been seduced by lobbyists and should be banned from any contact with our politicians. This will never happen, but something must be done? Millions have been spent on derailing the health care reform currently and in the past, as has immigration enforcement. Rescinding 287(g) federal training for local police enforcement of immigration laws, the NO MATCH LETTER and the cutting back on ICE raids on obnoxious businesses using foreign workers.

The order to crush E-verify was given to Sen.Harry Reid, Speaker Pelosi, Janet Napolitano, but narrowly survived in the Senate chambers. Both political parties are equally to blame for not enforcing the 1986 Immigration Control & Reform Act that was inundated with fraud and a desire to weaken the laws. Now they want to rescind that law, offering yet another reform package that will never function? Let’s not kid ourselves! Huge veiled forces are at work to import as much cheap labor as possible with no restraints, lowering wages and an unconscionable burden on taxpayers.

DON'T LET THE POWERS IN WASHINGTON WHITEWASH THE FACTS! DEMAND THE ORIGINAL DESIGNED FENCE AND THE FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF E-VERIFY, 287 (g), THE SAVE ACT AND AS WRITTEN, THE 1986 SIMPSON/MAZZOLI BILL AND AMEND THEM IF NEED BE? NO MORE IMMIGRATION REFORM? DO THE JOB THEY WERE VOTED FOR? CALL YOUR POLITICIANS AT 202-224-3121 AND DEMAND THESE LAWS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE? MORE ANSWERS FOUND AT NUMBERSUSA & JUDICIAL WATCH.

And it'll never end. It won't matter what comes to pass or does NOT come to pass. There will always be a diversion. It doesn't matter that Americans die, suffer, go bankrupt because of no health care. These louts don't care about them.

The Birther movement died out, as all their tactics do. This is the next in line. They'll never end, and probably the next tactic is all ready to use when this one loses steam or is proven to not be the end of the world after all.

With his given name and middle name being names of diseases, it is no wonder he calls himself Joe. However he still is stuck with a diseased mind.

So what is horribly wrong about calling one out if Obama is lying through his teeth, which he was. Don't we Americans deserve the truth from a President for once?

Rep."Joe" Wilson doesn't let those pesky things called facts get in the way of his version of the "truth".

Olbermann ripped him a new one last night, along with the rest of the neotard-wingnut-teabaggin'-deather-birthers like him...

"Joe" Wilson is an obnoxious pinheaded dipshit, and his outburst was disrespectful and unseemly. He has dishonored the office of the President, the Congress, his own position as Representative, his constituents, the government of which he is a part, and, above all, himself.

Nevertheless, we ought to consider whether his blowhard exclamation might have some basis in reality. The President claimed that illegals would not be covered under his healthcare reform plan. That may be technically true. However, earlier in his speech he commented upon how much the cost of healthcare is exacerbated by providing services to the uninsured via emergency rooms and such. That certainly is true. And it would continue to be true under his reform plan. The millions of illegals who are in this country would continue to receive services from emergency rooms, meaning that the rest of us would continue to pay for these expensive services, whether in the form of higher private insurance premiums or higher taxes. That would not change under the President's plan. The point being that if we want to reduce healthcare expenses as part of reform, we need to address openly the issue of what to do about providing services to illegals. They're either going to have to have health care, or they're going to have to return to their countries of origin. Having millions of illegal immigrants in our country with no healthcare services is not a good option. How are we supposed to control an epidemic like swine flu, for instance, when there are millions of people without access to health care services?

Joe NOT the problem -- Barack is a fuckin' LIAR and DECEIVER - and I am as liberal as they come!!!
Posted by: mattnrva on Sep 12, 2009 6:19 AM
Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The problem is NOT this dumb-ass Congressman -- shit, he called a spade a spade -- Barack is a motherfuckin' LIAR and PROMISE BREAKER !! You know it, I know it -- no one can deny it!!! What is so bad about some booing and yelling?? Hell, in England THEIR Parliament is loud as HELL -- and fun to watch -- and Barack DESERVES to be heckled --

Look -- as I've said here many times before, the Republicans and Democrats are ONE AND THE SAME! Makes no difference who you vote for -- once the cameras cut off and the fake, scumbag corporate "journalists" leave to go write their propaganda for the Controllers, and the doors close for private conversation, the Democrats AND Republicans are best of friends and laugh hysterically at us chumps, the regular people of America, for once again believing what they told us they would do during campaigning...

Barack & the other Democrats are now bending us over and are in the process of fucking us -- hell - not just regular fucking -- this time they're fucking us DRY -- they're ripping our assholes to pieces!!

This time Barack has told more lies in the 1st 7-8 months than any other Democrat politician I can remember-- the same for the trash scumbag fake Democrat "progressives" in Congress-- they said they would do single payer, stop the war, all of that shit, ONLY IF they had the wet dream "supermajority". Well, they got their dream!! Now, they claim they can't rally the troops to support any of the liberal agenda -- or that they have to be "bipartisan" in whatever they do -- more lies!! You and I know they never intended to pass any kind of progressive agenda, no matter how big a majority they have. Shit, they could have a 4-1 or better majority, and I bet they STILL would come up with BS excuses not to implement progressive plans!!

I sure hope you guys aren't fooled anymore by Democrats -- by now, I hope you realize that no matter how many times you vote for them, or what they promise, they will not follow through.

So DO NOT vote for a Democrat ever again -- Only vote Socialist or maybe Green Party. I don't give a shit if Republicans win in the meantime, because having them in power is just the same as the worthless Democratic Party in power -- they take their fucking bribes, and do what their masters want -- never what the "people" want or need...

Take a look at The Obama Deception if you haven't already -- you might not believe everything in it about the New World Order -- but the parts in it about all of Barack's lies and broken promises -- You NEED TO HEAR AND SEE that part - Barack breaks more promises he made us EVERY GODDAMN WEEK !!!

Barack sure as hell as deceived us...and the world...

S.C.'s Wilson Rakes In $750,000 in Less Than 48 Hours; Opponent Tops $1 Million
Updated 7:50 p.m.
By Paul Kane
With a political arms race in full force, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) has raised almost $750,000 in less than 48 hours since his shout of "You lie!" to President Obama during the Wednesday address to Congress, almost matching the Internet-fueled haul of his likely Democratic opponent.

What I Need To Know About Addison Graves Wilson

Current rating: Not yet rated    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
He's a Republican.

I know, that makes me a b-a-a-a-ad hypocritical liberal, but I've never claimed to be universally tolerant. I could add that he's from South Carolina, or that he's just Southern, which would make me a worse liberal. Most of the time, though, I avoid the people for whom my tolerance level is low rather than actively try to denigrate them.

If I were a conservative and felt the same way about Mr. Wilson, what I'd need to know about him would only consist of one item (echoing Vazquez [Jenette Goldstein] in the movie Aliens): "Where he is".

nice reporting. unfortunately, as long as stories like this are kept on the "fringe" they effect no change.

as long as "news" outlets are locked up by powers that don't want news, only outbursts, reporting remains a fringe activity.

somehow we need to shame news agencies to actually perform research and stop regurgitating pre-digested stories from right-wing activists.

until then, my friends, we're virtually silent and ineffective.

When S.C. Representative Addison Graves (Joe the Rude) Wilson spoke out in Congress on Wednesday night, he was just showing where the Republican Party has gone over the past 20 years. It really started during the Clinton Administration but has grown to full fruition during the Bush years. Just watch the reaction of his fellow Republicans since his outburst. They may have forced him to give a weak apology but they are also saying he was right when he himself lied. With the Republicans: black is white, up is down, and the only thing that is important is destroying this administration, even if it means destroying this country. So much for "Country First." His attack wasn't the first and it won't be the last and it will just grow more strident whenever the Democrats appease the right. They see blood and like sharks they attack even more in a frenzy of destruction.

Millions of people think JUST LIKE this guy and it is largely due to a complete monopoly on the information market of vast segments of this nation that we have allowed to happen. The owners of these media empires are sympathetic with those right wing, anti everything ever mentioned by Obama or any Democrat ever proposes viewpoints and hire on air "personallities" that espouse those views 24/7. Then the call goes out and like the brainwashed legions they've become, they turn out in droves to disrupt and further confuse. Meanwhile we on the left wring our hands, write blogs, send e-mails, eat, plan vacations, get fat and make proposals most of these undereducated crackers can barely understand the basics of. We are losing it badly, boys and girls and there is no one to blame but ourselves.

WHAT IS A CONSERVATIVE?

I saved this from a previous poster on Alternet and thought it applies to Joe "Graves" Wilson. I think we should email Joe a copy of "A Day in the Life of Joe Republican", just to remind him what a hypocrite he is.

What is a conservative.
Posted by: EinMD on Apr 23, 2009 7:57 AM

Conservatives are people who believe in small government - as long as Democrats are in power.

Conservatives are people who believe in family values - just ask Reverend Gary Aldritch, Ted Haggard, John McCain, Rudy Guiliani, Newt Gingrich and David Vitter.

Conservatives are people who believes in the sanctity of marriage - yet have the highest divorce rates in the nation.

Conservatives are people who believe that the government should stay out of their business - except of course for their desired regulation of the sex lives of other people.

Conservatives are people who believe in fiscal responsibility - even though every Republican controlled Congress and Administration including Saint Reagan has raised taxes and spent like drunken sailors.

Conservatives are people who believe in national pride and patriotism - Unless of course you're gay, a decorated war veteraln like John Kerry or speak out against the war like Max Cleland.

Conservatives are people who believe in strong national defense - even when their President's policy of pre-emptive war has exhausted our military and his policy on torture has become a recruitment tool for our enemies.

Conservatives are people who believe in the separation of church and state - any church that isn't a flavor of conservative Christianity.

Conservatives are people who believe in the rule of law - except when a covert CIA agent gets outed for political reasons, the Republican President violates dozens of Federal laws and suspends any portion of the Constitution he doesn't like.

Conservatives are people who believe in free speech and free expression - unless of course you're a liberal. Then we've got a Free Speech Zone waiting for you and should be happy you're not sent off to Gitmo.

Over and over, when I point out that the Democrats have totally and utterly betrayed us -- over and over again -- and this time -- Barack's lies have reached a new level -- "progressives" here rush out to attack me, and robotically defend the political party that is using them, and laughing hysterically behind their backs. They just want to blame Republicans!! They're just more Democratic Party ass-kissers, robots, "Barack-bots", who would let the fake "progressives" in Congress and in the oval office "rape" them politically as often as they want -- in fact I think they'd happily let the Democratic party bend 'em over and fuck 'em dry -- as I said before our supposed Democrat "progressive" "leaders" are ripping our assholes to pieces!! -- The people here on Alternet who cover their eyes and ears when another democratic socialist (me), dares to question whether the people who we elected really follow our demands...these fake commenters have no understanding of the true realities...

All these fake liberals here at Alternet (well, Alternet USED to be a good site- around 2001-2002), just sit around blaming Republicans for the lack of passage of liberal agendas -- when the real problem is the Democrats!! Hell, the motherfuckers have a supermajority -- and all the POS's can come up with is excuses!! They are one and the same as the Republicans!!

Excuse me, but I am THROUGH with these worthless motherfuckers !! Defend them all you want, but they are laughing at your dumb ass when the cameras switch off!!

It's just not done on the floor of the senate during a joint session of congress, especially when the heckler is accusing any sitting president of being a liar. Did you see any Dems heckle Bush and call him a liar during eight years of the worst confabulation by any president in history?

Lets not end a legacy of racist hypocrisy that goes back almost two hundred years. Should the Confederacy succeed again, Wilson will rank with Jefferson Davis-.Notice that the Red states now comprise the old Confederate traitor-ocracy.

They are both the property of Wall Street. This slap fight just polarizes the public instead of uniting them against the Wall Street hyenas. Which is exactly what they want. Joe gets some Kibble from the right had of the Oligarchy, Barry gets his Kibble from the left hand of Oligarchy. Its just like having the FOX dirtbag, Beck, being foisted up as a leader of the tea party people. The Oligarchs are trying to co-opt the leadership and when they do that they will just accomplishing what they have accomplished in the past with conservatives...putting the FBI informer, Reagan, into the head of the Conservative movement--which he sold out to the same people to whom Obama is selling the Progressive Movement.

Like Obama, Reagan talked a good game, but, iin the end, he was just a grade B actor playing the biggest role of his career. Citibank gave us Reagan...Goldman Sachs gave us Obama. Both Right and Left have been deceived.

I completely agree with everything you just said...except that the conservative movement was always the tool of the oligarchy. It feeds on nostalgia and the desire for stability which to an extent are natural emotions (although for ordinary individuals, the latter is better fulfilled progressive policies which among other things contribute to food on the table every day and a bed to sleep in every night), but it's driven by the corporate media body and soul.

Being someone with no dog in this hunt ... I really don't care that some fool called another fool a liar. These two ego-maniacs (and all politicians are) could tear each others eyes out in the middle of the congressional floor for all I care.

Current rating: 2    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]

I have little respect for any politician in Congress. Most in both parties are working for corporate America and listen to us only long enough to get us to vote them back to the trough.

But Wilson is showing how truly useless Republican politicians are becoming...more so than Democrats. It is not so much that he takes money in exchange for special considerations...they all do that.

It is really about spouting out-right lies as if no one knows when he does so. Worse for us is that so many people will choose to believe those lies in his support simply because they hold a hatred for anyone who would do something moral for another American citizen, or for someone who is black and successful.

It helps to empty the treasury and indebt us to the corporatists.

how every time there is overwhelming support for something the Republican representatives are opposed to, they play victim and scream that people want to silence their lone opinions. "Poor us! These people with their damn opinions won't let us get our way!! Weahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!"

Joe Wilson and all of those creeps who are supported by health insurance corruption are a disgrace!

To three things.
Wilson's an asshole
Wilson's a scumbag
Wilson's a neocon stooge
Wilson is a disgrace to his office a traitor to democracy, and an embarassment to our nation and the world. Congress would be far better off WITHOUT him.

Actually, there is health condition called Addison's Disease. It effects the adrenaline glands, and effects their anger management. My recently late mother had it. Maybe the whole Republican party has this, not that my mother was a Republican, mind you.
