A Heaping Scoop of Crazy: Obama Will Make Your Health Care Gay!

Recently an acquaintance of mine -- a liberal contrarian -- wondered whether at some point we'd have to acknowledge that while all this health care  Tea-baggery is being promoted by corporate lobbyists, it does represent real populist anger.

I'd find the argument more persuasive if that anger -- no matter how genuine -- were based on what's actually being debated in Congress. The reality, of course, is that the conservative establishment is filling these folks' heads with outrageous distortions, and it's those distortions, rather than some very moderate, centrist fixes to the health care system, against which they're railing.

Case in point, via Suzy Khimm at TNR:

Reader JP just alerted me to an email blast from a group called "The Pray In Jesus Name Project." It suggests that ObamaCare will not only pull the plug on grandma, but also result in a gay and transgendered takeover of the entire health care system.

You might have guessed this already, but it's not really true!

This is one of those double-scoops of crazy, and I've been having a hard time deciding on a quip with which to leave you. I was thinking about, 'How all this squares with Obama's other key domestic priority -- imposing Shar'ia law on Greenwich Village -- is unclear.'

But I think I'm going with:

Once they've achieved their evil take-over of our health care industry, can fashion and interior design be far behind?
