Today, discussing a celebrity blogger's tirade against some wannabe beauty queen who favors state-sanctioned discrimination against gay and lesbian couples -- probably the least serious political story in years -- she offers up a stunningly vapid commentary on the WaPo's blog (if you're fortunate enough to have no idea what this non-story is about, go read the post).

Check out her lead:

It's a wonder that even supporters of same-sex marriage don't reconsider their position after hearing the embarrassing, infuriating, self-absorbed rantings of quasi-celebrity Perez Hilton.

Got that? It's a "wonder" that supporters of same-sex marriage don't revise their views because some famously mean gay blogger was really mean. (Wikipedia's description of Perez Hilton's blog: "On his website, Lavandeira posts gossip items about musicians, actors and celebrities. Why stop there -- perhaps gay and lesbian couples themselves should give up the fight.

It's the height of hypocrisy, not to mention counterproductive, that people such as Hilton demand rights and respect for their beliefs and lifestyles and yet try to pulverize those who express a different point of view.

Actually, it's the United States Constitution that demands equal treatment from the state for all citizens, and neither the opinions of a beauty pageant contestant nor an aging celebrity-obsessed hipster matter even the tiniest bit.
