The good folks at ColorOfChange.org, the nation's largest online African-American advocacy group, need your help in protecting people facing unemployment:

A group of Republican governors is refusing to accept federal stimulus funds that are intended to expand and extend unemployment benefits. Most of these governors are in states where Black unemployment is more than two times that of Whites, and all of them are doing it to score political points.

Please join us in telling these governors to put the country's economic recovery and the well-being of their states' most vulnerable residents above their own political posturing.

Update: [Editor's Note: The following is a press release from ColorofChange.org.]

Gov. Sanford Flooded with Calls as Citizens Claim Rejecting Funds Reckless, Irresponsible

Hundreds of phone calls are streaming into Governor Sanford's office this week from angry citizens decrying his plan to reject desperately needed funds from the federal stimulus bill. More than 600 calls were made to the Governor on Monday by members of ColorOfChange.org, demanding that he accept the full amount of federal stimulus funding intended to buoy his struggling state's economy.
