Some of y’all jumped all over me when I suggested that cheese-eater Roland Burris was not worthy of the nomination to take Barack Obama’s Senate seat. That his presence would tarnish the seat, Illinois, Obama and all black people.

Burris has since changed his story numerous times about his fundraising for, and his connections with, impeached former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. It’s disgusting. Now the new governor is joining calls for Burris to resign and trying to change the law to give him the boot. From local blog Progress Illinois:

At an ongoing press conference, Gov. Pat Quinn just asked Sen. Roland Burris to put the needs of Illinois residents before his own and step aside.  Quinn reprised his support for legislation to change state law to fill U.S. Senate vacancies by special election and give the governor the power to appoint a temporary senator in the interim.
