Illegal refrigerants and fire-suppressants rank so close to cocaine as the most profitable contraband coming into the US, it's a wonder no one has written a Hollywood thriller about them. Between 1994 and 1997, 6,367 tons were smuggled across the U.S. border, valuing $43 million in lost tax revenue alone.
