Urge Verizon to Stop Sponsoring Right-Wing Agendas
Few of Verizon Wireless’ millions of users know that the company has staunchly supported numerous right wing causes. In addition to blocking text messages from NARAL Pro-Choice, a women’s advocacy organization, the cell-phone giant sponsored an anti-global warming rally this Labor Day.
Verizon has claimed that its actions are not political. But can we comfortably assert that such actions amount to anything less than a high-five sponsorship of anti-choice, anti-environment zealots? This is what the CEO of Massey Energy, had to say about the Labor Day event. "Hello I'm Don Blankenship and I'd like to invite you to a Labor Day rally in West Virginia. We're going to have Hank Williams and have a good time but we're also going to learn how environmental extremists and corporate America are both trying to destroy your jobs."
