Italy taking legal action over wrecked cruise ship
Italy Thursday said it was taking legal action against the company of the capsized Costa Concordia cruise ship to pay for possible environmental damage and the cost of dealing with the wreckage.

The environment ministry said it was taking legal action "in view of a possible claim for damages to the environment" from the luxury liner which ran aground on a reef off a Tuscan island on January 13, killing 32."
Operations to pump out the fuel from the giant cruise ship began earlier this month, but are expected to take up to four weeks.
The government is also concerned about the cost of moving the half submerged wreck -- which lies just outside the Giglio island harbour entrance -- an operation which could take from seven to 10 months.
The liner carried 4,229 people from 60 countries when it ran aground and capsized in a maritime reserve.
