Just when you thought Republicans couldn't get any more tone-deaf about the state of the country: Rep. Paul Ryan, the self-appointed "budget czar" whose hallucinatory visions of austerity apply to everyone in the country except the super-wealthy, appeared on Fox News Sunday yesterday. And it just so happened to be his birthday. So, while he was talking about the 2012 elections and "reclaiming an idea," a staff member presented a cake to him with a dollar-sign frosted upon it.
