Operation Burn Notice, Pro-Walker Site Urging Burning of Recall Petitions, Disappears
Operation Burn Notice, a Facebook page that for weeks has urged Wisconsinites to burn petitions for the recall of Gov. Scott Walker, appears to have disappeared from Facebook.
The indefatigable Bill Schmalfeldt of the Examiner.com may just have brought them down with his relentless reporting on the anonymous faces behind the Facebook campaign's, and Facebook's negligence in allowing OBN to operate for as long as it did, advocating the commission of a Class 1 felony, according to Schmalfeldt.
Yesterday, Wisconsin's Government Accountability Board and the state Department of Justice announced that it would be joining with district attorneys from around the state to investigate claims of "to investigate allegations of recall petition fraud and acts of aggression by or against people involved in the recall process."
And, poof, Operation Burn Notice was suddenly gone. However a page called "Operation Burn Notice 2" does still exist, sporting a single post:
Just so everyone knows. Burning recall petitions is a serious crime, and can result in a $10,000 fine and 3 1/2 years in prison.
But, as Schmalfeldt notes, OBN has a curious way of disappearing and popping back up again.
