As Obama Moves Out J.P. Morgan-Connected Aide, Bank Mistakenly Robs Couple's Home

Marcy Wheeler aka emptywheel at FireDogLake is not impressed with the latest round of administrative reshuffling at the White House, which saw the Obama administration moving Chief-of-Staff Bill Daley, who has ties to J.P. Morgan & Chase and has been viewed with suspicion by many progressives, away from his operational duties and towards being more of a social wheeler and dealer.

As you recall, Daley was hired as a sop to the banks, who thought endless bailouts weren’t enough bounty from this and the prior Administration and successfully demanded having one of their own in the White House gatekeeper position. And so, after fucking up the debt ceiling, and fucking up the introduction of Obama’s jobs push (and overseeing the passage of three trade agreements that will send jobs overseas), Daley has been moved into a figurehead role....

So at a time when Obama’s campaign wants to pretend he’s taking a tough line with the 1%, he’s refusing to fire 1%er Bill Daley when he proves to be incompetent. Does this mean the banksters will effectively retain their own personal gate-keeper?

Let's not forget that it's this J.P. Morgan & Chase we're talking about, the one that just accidentally broke and entered into a couple's home, thinking it was someone else's:

A major Wall Street bank is apologizing to a Maine couple who allege that the bank wrongfully claimed ownership of their second home on Green Mountain Road in Effingham. But the apology rings hollow for the Drew family.

Apparently, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. confused a little red house, owned by Travis and Paula Drew, at 529 Green Mountain Road, for a no-longer-existent mobile home at 519 Green Mountain Road.

The structures were owned by different people even though they once shared the same lot. The confusion led the bank's agents to change the locks on the Drews' home and remove $14,000 worth of belongings from the property.

Stay classy, banks!
