Chris Matthews Breaks Down GOP Candidates' Reaction to OWS: Knowing When There's a Force to Be Reckoned With
President Obama has been resolute in pushing back on Republicans opposing his jobs bill, and he and his team know they can use OWS to their advantage. But what about the Republican candidates, who essentially support all the points Occupy Wall Street are protesting? The most serious contenders are trying to appear sympathetic, or at least cautious to vilify the movement.
Chris Matthews held a panel on the topic, and made at least two points: Romney does not want to be seen as not supporting a middle class, and Newt Gingrich does not like it when people do not pick up after themselves. (The latter's comments are hilariously, and typically, curmudgeonly.) But he also notes that if Obama had agreed with OWS, he never would have appointed Geithner. Watch, via Mediaite:
