AZ Minuteman Gets Death Penalty for Killing 9-Year-Old Mexican-American Girl
Arizona Minuteman Shawna Forde, who brutally murdered nine-year-old Brisenia Flores and her father Raul Flores in a robbery attempt to fund her vigilante border-patrol crew, was sentenced to death yesterday by a Pima County jury. The jury deliberated for four hours over the sentence for the first-degree murders. Part of the trial hinged on the after hearing the wrought testimony of Brisenia's mother, Gina Gonzalez, who narrowly escaped death in the incident herself. But prosecutors also played a tape of an unrepentant Forde apparently plotting more murders while speaking to an informant:
During the trial, prosecutors played a taped conversation between Forde and an FBI informant that took place days after the slaying. Forde tells the man she’d like his help on some “ops” saying she’s got more “targets” in mind.
In that conversation, Forde brags about both cops and drug smugglers not liking her. She tells the informant, "I'm the one person they know is willing to take it to the next level and that scares a lot of people."
Two accomplices, Jason Bush and Albert Gaxiola, also face the death penalty. Read more at the Arizona Daily Star.
