White Supremacists Freak Out Over Idris Elba Cast as Norse God in Upcoming Thor Movie

The trailer for the big screen adaptation of the Marvel Comic Thor hit the Internet last week to rave reviews and overwhelming excitement. The Council for Conservative Citizens (CoCC), though, is calling for a boycott of the film due to the fact that one of the Nordic gods is being played by Idris Elba. The CoCC released this statement:

"Norse mythology gets a multi-cultural remake in the upcoming movie titled 'Thor,' by Marvel studios. It’s not enough that Marvel attacks conservative values and promotes the left-wing, now mythological Gods must be re-invented with black skin.

It seems that Marvel Studios believes that white people should have nothing that is unique to themselves. An upcoming movie, based on the comic book Thor, will give Norse mythology an insulting multi-cultural make-over. One of the Gods will be played by Hip-Hop DJ Idris Elba.

Besides being a “Hip-Hop DJ,” Elba is quite renowned for his acting in shows like "The Wire" and "The Office" and movies like "Takers" and "American Gangster." He spoke to TV Times about the role earlier this year:

"I was cast in 'Thor' and I'm cast as a Nordic god. If you know anything about the Nords, they don't look like me but there you go. I think that's a sign of the times for the future. I think we will see multi-level casting. I think we will see that, and I think that's good."

Apparently there have not been any objections to the casting of Australian actor Chris Hemsworth or British screen great Sir Anthony Hopkins. Thor is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2011.
