How to Have Sex Like a Virgin for Only 30 Bucks

By Tana Ganeva, AlterNet. Posted October 16, 2009.

Who doesn't want to have sex with virgins?

Upcoming AlterNet stories on Digg

Purity has its price: it's $29.90. At least that's how much it costs to obtain the "artificial virginity hymen," a plastic baggie filled with mysterious red crap meant to resemble the chaste secretions of a recently deflowered virgin.

"No more worry about losing your virginity," reads the Web site of Gigimo, the Chinese sex-toy company that distributes the product. (Whew!) "With this product, you can have your first night back anytime."

To bring back that magic, all you have to do is:

Insert this artificial hymen into your vagina carefully. It will expand a little and make you feel tight. When your lover penetrate, it will ooze out a liquid that look like blood not too much but just the right amount. Add in a few moans and groans, you will pass through undetectable.

On the site's landing page, a very young-looking woman in a pink nighty, her bare breast partially covered by a digitally imposed pink heart, appears to be really looking forward to having her fake virginity taken.

Another enticing illustration helpfully shows the end result; unsurprisingly, it looks like someone splattered some fake blood on something. That fake blood, according to the site, is "clinically proven nontoxic to human" and has "No side effects, no pain to use, no allergic reaction." The clinical studies aren’t cited.

Another thing the movie prop has going for it is the low price, at least compared to the cost of a hymenoplasty, the hymen-reconstructive procedure brightly referred to as "revirgination." Those cost between $2,500 and $4,500 a (non)pop, according to a Web site that compiles useful hymen-related information and is sponsored, of course, by doctors who perform the procedure.

While there is no hard data on the prevalence of hymenoplasties, the Wall Street Journal reported in 2005 that plastic surgeons have noticed a sizable uptick in requests for the procedure.  Most doctors don't perform the surgery, but many plastic surgeons who do are upping their advertising on billboards, magazines and on the radio.

Revirgination.net, a Web site devoted to a variety of weird things women can do to their vaginas for lots of money -- designer vagina, vaginal rejuvination -- sings the praises of surgical "revirgination" thusly:

The virginity of a woman is valued for religious, social and even economic reasons. Hymen gets disrupted after the first intercourse or even after strenuous physical activity or tampon use. Anyway, you wouldn't want your boyfriend/future husband feel ashamed because your hymen no longer existed.

Indeed!

So, shoving a pouch filled with strange chemicals in your vagina isn't the worst thing you can do to it?

Gigimo did not reply to AlterNet's queries about where and how much of the product is sold, so it's hard to know how popular the artificial hymen is in the U.S. The rise in vaginal procedures though, would point to a pretty good potential market.

Its no small wonder as a Country we're suffering from low self-esteem.

The finest sex is ultimately a personal, private expression of consensual passion that you'll know was 'the finest' when one reflects on it well after the act.

Because sex can be the first and most fertile activity where people are rarely truthful to themselves, let alone their partner.

Lord knows that Chinese sex toy companies have never produced anything silly and gross before. Consequently, this must be evidence of some sick trend. No, that's silly, but let's post it anyway; we can offer readers sex with a virgin in the headline. Hey, it sells advertising.

since purity is so important in the Islam faith, why not send 1.000.000 of these toys to Afghanistan instead of bombs and mines.????

For our jaded, hypocritical society its a gimmick, a joke. For other cultures it can be a matter of shame at the least and death at the most extreme. Whats ironic is that both cultures are reducing women to objects with or without a real or artificial hymen. Fools! Virginity is a state of mind!

72 Virgins Are Waiting

Religious devotees do not need artificial virgins. But patience is rewarded. Allah will supply 72 of them in paradise. Infidels and dissidents will be sent to the pits of hell and have their penises turned into flaming torches for eternity.

Virginity Fetish = Sexual Sadism?

Beyond the Judeo-Christian notions of purity, I've suspected that much of the fascination with hymens comes with the pain, bleeding and sense of conquest that comes from taking a woman's virginity. Why exactly aren't we supposed to knock anyone's fetish? I thought sexual sadism (and masochism and other related misogynist perversions) was a fetish that needed to be knocked into oblivion? There's such a thing as too much tolerance, y'know.

Who does want to have sex with virgins?

Have you not in a chimney seen
A sullen faggot wet and green,
How coyly it received the heat,
And at both ends does fume and sweat?

So goes it with the harmless maid
When first upon her back she’s laid:
But the kind experienced dame
Cracks and rejoices in the flame.

Even from a viewpoint of bodily greed like Lord Rochester's, there is no sexual satisfaction in ending someone's virginity. Taking pleasure in that is all about power and purity fetishes, and not everybody has those hangups. Conversely, to hang onto virginity is put an ad out for partners who do have those hangups, which seems a strategy for finding people who will exploit rather than share.

traditional reasons for valuing virginity
Posted by: drosera on Oct 16, 2009 5:24 AM
Current rating: 4    [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Virginity has its attractions, especially in certain traditional cultures. First, it is assurance that, if the woman gets pregnant in the first nine or so months after consummation, the baby will be the groom's.

Second, there are economic considerations. Money is exchanged, sometimes both ways. That money has to pay for something, something verifiable. Virginity is like the seal on the contract.

Third, in many cultures virginity signifies purity, piety, and sobriety, qualities seen desirable in a woman. It might indicate the woman would be less inclined to play around after marriage.

None of this is to say that virginity is to be highly valued now. A focus on maintaining virginity points to regarding a woman as property, either of the groom or the groom's family generally. It will continue to be important as long as fundamentalist, misogynist cultures thrive (as they seem to be doing now).

Who doesn't want to have sex with virgins?

Me! Me! Me!

Virgins are boring.

Okay, my first time was with another virgin - neither of us knew what we were doing & that was pretty cool.

However, as soon as I gathered a little experience I found that I preferred experienced women.

I was a girl's first lover twice - neither of them "popped," so I can't speak from experience on that issue. But it sure doesn't sound stimulating to me! Bleh!

People are just plain nutzo on this issue...

I've had sex with two virgins in my entire life (one of those times I was too). Um, never again.

These sorts of obsessions and toys (?!WTF?!) are just looney. Wanna tighter fit? Jeebus, do some Kegles [sic] and quit messin' around. Virginity is meaningless other than a lot of damned hard work that thankfully is over once it's done.

Sex is great, it's fun, it's NORMAL and no one needs all the fuckin' damned freakouts of virginity chastity and all that stoopit shit.

I gotta stop reading these stories... just gets ma all nutty... nuttier.

I REALLY don't

Why is it preferable to have sex with a virgin?
Because it enhances a feeling of male domination, because the male gets to plant their conqueror flag on the peak first?
That is for baboons and for conservative right wingers of various belief systems.
Sex is best among sensitive people with experience and intelligence.
Sex intelligence is acquired through practice and information.
Virginity is such an overrated, ridiculous chauvinist "virtue".
Women are being lured into this, it is pretty sad...

Faking it

Just a step further in faking it but then that just leads to more suspicion and then better faking. I think sticking with faking orgasm is a better option. If you like someone with fake boobs and all the trimings it starts becoming a better option to just get a plastic doll. If you want to get all dolled up then you stand to get in less trouble whatever you do with a doll. I don't know if doing it in public with a doll qualifies as sex but someone could see about that or manual stimulation clubs. Orbital clubs would produce so much space pollution along woth other space tourism that I's be afraid of ruining our ozone layer maybe someone could open a Polluters Clubs on earth instead.

After all, we have boob jobs, nose jobs, nip and tucks, vaginal enchancements, labia reductions, tummy tucks, lipo suction, bikini waxes, lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, lip gloss, lift-up bras, thongs, girdles, lies about paternity, lies about rape, lies about love, lies about values, lies about equality, lies about discrimination, lies about spousal abuse, lies about age, lies about weight, --what's one more lie added to the list? Hey if you wanted honesty you should have married a man!!!!

A fetish is "any object or non-genital part of the body that causes a habitual erotic response or fixation.
(dictionary.com)

So by definition virginity can't be fetishized, as the author repeatedly claims -- like that would be a Bad Thing if it were.

One always wonders after reading such stories on AlterNet "whatever happened to progressive ideals about diversity?". I suppose the new double standard is that if a woman wants to be a virgin that's her choice and thus okay, but if a man wants (chooses) to marry one then he's some sort of chauvinist pig.

The male desire for marrying a virgin is an aspect of male erotic desire favoring monogamy (not that I'd expect anyone around here to comprehend that), which many if not most women out in the real world are rather strongly in favor of. So it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that men's desire for marrying a virgin can be pro-woman.

Fact is, once a woman has had 5 sexual partners the probability of her pulling off an intact marriage dips under 30%; it is under 20% when the number of sexual partners reaches the upper teens. If marriage is no concern of yours, then no big deal. But for those for whom having a stable marriage is a primary concern, if would be foolish to ignore the implications of such data.

Considering how men routinely get totally a$$-raped in divorce, it would only be sensible for them to prefer women who, if maybe not quite perfect virgins, at least don't have more than a couple notches on their bedposts. This "re-virgining" kit is an attempt to thwart men's considered choices by deceiving them, but I wouldn't expect it to be criticized on that count around here, where men are second class sub-humans.

I'll take pleasure over conquest any day.
