Which police departments want drones?

Following a FOIA request from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released an updated list of bodies, both public and private, which have applied for permission to fly surveillance drones in U.S. airspace. The FAA lists 81 entities altogether including police departments, government agencies and universities such as Cornell and Penn State.

HuffPo noted that "universities are likely to fly drones for academic and research purposes, some police departments have said they want to use drones for law enforcement, including for surveillance and crowd control."
