US dismisses latest N. Korea threat as 'unhelpful'
The United States on Tuesday dismissed as "unhelpful" North Korea's warning that foreigners should consider leaving the South because a "thermo-nuclear" war on the peninsula was possible.
White House spokesman Jay Carney criticized Pyongyang for more "unhelpful rhetoric that serves only to escalate tensions."
Earlier Tuesday, North Korea said the peninsula was "inching close to a thermo-nuclear war," in a statement carried by its official Korean Central News Agency.
Saying it did not want to see foreigners in South Korea "fall victim," the statement requested all foreign institutions, enterprises and tourists "to take measures for shelter and evacuation."
