Rick Santorum dings Ted Cruz for government shutdown

In what could be a very early preview of the GOP's 2016 presidential primary, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum appeared on "Meet the Press" and took a swipe at Texas Senator Ted Cruz for the recent government shutdown.

"I would say that in the end he did more harm [than good]," Santorum said, according to the Huffington Post. "I think it was not his objective. I think his objective was a laudable one."

Santorum initially supported the shutdown gambit, but said on Sunday that Cruz failed to adequately communicate its ultimate goal. "I think he didn't do a very good job in pointing [it] out," Santorum said. "It's one thing to have a goal, and another thing to have a plan to get you to that goal, and he didn't figure that out."
