Now theyre sending lobbyists to Washington, DC to twist the arms of lawmakers to oppose reform of the status quo. Why? Because the status quo pays.

Catch-22

My neighbor retired early because she was so knocked out by a long serious illness involving her kidney. Her company, a household name from Corporate America, then informed her that they would be making a slight change in her medical insurance: it would no longer cover anything having to do with the kidneys.

GROSS

This is really gross. Everyone always talks about the CEO salaries which are ridiculous, but what about the cost of advertising? Curiously, medicare never needs to advertise.

We already cover the elderly, the REALLY poor, veterans and congress people. Why can't all those people be in ONE program that anyone can buy into on a sliding scale? Anyone who wants to keep what they have can do so. That way the for-profit side will eventually be phased out instead of eliminated immediately. Meaning we have time to divest before the fall. I should be in Congress!

The other baffling aspect of this is why don't corporations DEMAND that the goverment provide health care so they don't have to? Do they really think the taxes would be more than they currently pay for insurance? Seems unlikely. The corp. I work for is struggling and this would really help them. It also helps small business owners and it says, hey, we value everyone...but of course, we don't :(
