Asian Americans Overtake Hispanics as Fastest-Growing Immigrant Group
According to the Pew Research Center, Asian Americans now outnumber Hispanics as the fastest-growing immigrant group in the U.S. Since 2000, Asian American immigration rates steadily climbed from 20% to nearly 40%, while the percentage of Hispanic immigrants dropped from 60% to about 30% of all American immigrants.
Asian Americans come from a long history of low-wage, low-skilled labor. Today, they are the best-educated and highest-income racial group in the U.S. Pew surveys report:
They are more satisfied than the general public with their lives, finances and the direction of the country, and they place more value than other Americans do on marriage, parenthood, hard work and career success, according to a comprehensive new nationwide survey by the Pew Research Center.
