Cory Booker Hits Up Rachel Maddow for Some Damage Control
Clearly, the Cory Booker Bain flap has been a hot mess: he criticized Obama for criticizing Bain (who donated large sums to his 2002 campaign), making himself look like a sell-out one-percenter, clouding the good things he's done for the troubled city of Newark, and giving the GOP ammo to use a top Dem's image against the President. Mayor Booker had refused all interviews on the topic, but when the Republicans twisted his words to their own ends, he decided to hit up Maddow and set it straight. "Anyone in the GOP who wants to stand with me," said Booker, "please stand with me. Stand with me for marriage equality... stand with me for not turning back the clock on women... stand with me on making health care more accessible to all..." Touche, Cory Booker. Unfortunately, Maddow did not question him on his Bain Capital backers, which is at the heart of the issue, but she did ask the usual good questions about what Booker thinks should happen, campaign-wise.
